There both canon actually when you connected to the hots. If you chose tosh in hots the dialogue will say that tosh will willing to help Jim get out of prison. If you chose Nova in hots she will not save you on the first mission and she was lying and in the mission where you need to save jim in prison Matt honor will say that Ghost protocol is ready instead of tosh. So yes both are canon

Blizzard has stablish something called A cannon as a reference to this optional siding missions, basically if ever need or want to have a timeline you want to use as a reference for the story, just asume that all the A options on the siding missions are the general cannon. Basically the canon is. Raynor helps Tosh and he and his Spectres remain with the Riders permanently. Raynor helps Ariel to protrct the colony of New Heaven and Ariel creates a vacine (Not a cure) That prevents the infestation from spreading any further and Ariel remain in Heaven. Raynor chose to destroy the Zerg aerial support on Char Blizzard also specified that this canon is not an absolute canon because if you want to side with a diferent character you have all the right to choose another canon and stick to that canon. The A canon is basically a guide to establish a timeline

As far as I understood it Dr Ariel was using the colonist as guinea pigs for her experiment as Tosh mentioned it is strange that her colony is constantly being infested Also afaik there is no cure for the zerg virus as it mutates really fast and is constantly evolving in a celular level as mentioned by Dr Ariel herself ln the previous mision and by stepmans analysis of the zerg samples

@@RexMK- I doubt she actually made it tho Due to the reasons I explained we never heard again from her in the expansion as far as I remember Also in game dialog were refering it to a zerg cure, not a zerg vaccine I sided with the protoss here , hell it took an ancient Xelnaga artifact and Narud's intervention to revert Kerrigan back to human form. I sincerely doubt a zerg cure or vaccine could actually be made

Spectres are more unstable than ghosts. They can have a different skillset too. If a Ghost is a Psychic assasin , the specres are psychic infiltrators their skillset isn't to kill one person , but to debilitate forces and crush small units. Also Ghosts have better senses than spectres. (Tosh didn't notice Nova , when she killed him) Btw I still think Nova is the better choice , siding with Tosh Raynor gets a bit depressed and gets accociated with terrorists , rightly I might add.

I had an idea if starcraft 3 is ever going to happen one day, new hero units aside from the main characters. The new heroes will be stationed at your base every mission. One of my examples is a unit that will become available if you maxed out the terran research in the laboratory. Ajax-12 - a hybrid supersoldier that was freshly crossbred between a spectre and a ghost. He was designed to be better than every other soldier in raynor's arsenal. No one in the regiment is quite sure if he is a spectre or a ghost, but what is certain Is that he is very loyal and a very expert tactician with the sole purpose of taking on small armies Solo whilst also completing the most crucial of missions when things are getting desperate. He excels in long range & close combat (particularly rifles, explosives, & throwing knives). Being half spectre means that he also has the psionic abilities that a spectre has while He has the professional stealth & great range of a ghost. Overall, he is a deadly fighter on the front lines that is willing to accept any mission No matter the severity of the campaign.

My favorite way of beating them when you have to fight against the flyers is mass ghosts. The ghosts in upgraded bunkers outrange broodlords. The final mission on brutal is too easy when you take out the flyers IMO, you just need mass tanks and you win no matter what.

I used spectres to AoE stun enemy units on brutal.

Psionic lash against an Ultralisk mate.. it could now down a bunker with 6 marines defending it

nah man, psionic blast deal 200 damage to take down kerrigan before she even touch my marines in the bunker, ghost snipe only 45, but still snipe is alot faster
