Lebanon Under Attack: U.S., Saudi & Israeli Attempts To Destroy Resistance, w/ As'ad AbuKhalil

Lebanon can’t catch a break. Amidst the worst economic collapse in the modern era, the Saudis and their regional allies are punishing the tiny country over comments criticizing the war on Yemen. To make matters worse, October saw clashes in Beirut on a front line that dates back to the civil war of the 1980s, with a Saudi and U.S.-backed Christian militia opening fire on Shia protesters affiliated with Hezbollah.
Why is all this happening now? Does it have anything to do with the Lebanese civil war? What was that war even about? Was it really just a sectarian bloodbath or an international attack on the Arab left? And how does it relate to the economic collapse and ongoing foreign meddling wreaking havoc on Lebanon today?
Here to put it all in its historical context is As’ad AbuKhalil, a professor of political science at California State University Stanislaus.

At Breakthrough News we believe in the power of independent media. Five mega-corporations dominate the media landscape - controlling 90% of what we read, watch and listen to. They control the news cycle, to which social media and even most “alternative” media is forced to respond. We are breaking through that cycle.
We tell the untold stories of resistance from poor and working-class communities - because out of these stories we will construct a different narrative of the world, as it is and in real time.
People’s movements in every corner of the globe are changing history and shifting consciousness. But these movements barely receive any coverage from the corporate media. They need visibility. They need amplification. They need a media arm to break through.
We can be that media arm, but only with your help. Become a Patron and join us on the front lines in the battle of ideas.

Do you know what lets Iran have more friends/allies in the region, than its adversaries or anyone else, even amongst the Sunnis, Christians and others? Iran does not treat its friends like clients or vassals. Iran knows the value of respect, dignity and sincerity. Something that its adversaries will never learn. Another important point is that Iran never abandons its allies. Because Iranian allies are real allies, not "strategic partners".

@@ramzilabban2392 voluntary slaves? Excuse me, did Hezbollah and Hamas not inflict humiliating defeats on Israel all because of the Iranian-Hezbollah-Hamas alliance? Did Syria not overcome the conspiracy to overthrow its government and avoid becoming a failed state like Libya? Did Baghdad defend itself and not fall when ISIS was at its gates? Is the axis of resistance not growing by day and gaining more allies and support not just from Shias but from Sunnis, Christians and freedom loving people from all over the world? My friend, there's no enslavement or overlord rule imposed by Iran. Enslavement and overlord rule is the hallmark of Western Imperialism and Colonialism. You really have to read history and accurate news sources to understand what's going on in the world.
@likemike6107
@likemike6107 2 жыл бұрын
@@JustAnotherHappyGuy Iran has been voted out of Iraq and no longer have a say in Syria. The resistance is fading and is basically just left in Lebanon. It will eventually fail like it did in Iraq, because at the end of the day, people want to live and have jobs. The resistance does not know how to do that.
@JustAnotherHappyGuy
@JustAnotherHappyGuy 2 жыл бұрын
@@likemike6107 unfortunately the conclusion you have come to is reflective of delusion rather than the reality on the ground. Iran will pour money and help into Iraq regardless of whether Iraqis vote Iran in or out. Just go to Iraq during Arbaeen and you will see how much money Iran has put in the Holy Shrines. In the time of conflict, you will see the weapons, training and logistics Iran provides to their Iraqi Brothers. Iraq's latest round of elections reflects the fact that they don't want Iran's influence in their internal political matters which is correct. No nation should depend on another when it comes to their internal political and domestic issues. These latest round of elections are actually a show of strength and unity amongst Iraqis. In fact, I would be concerned had they not as it signals additional foreign dependence which Iran should not have to bear (long term). A strong and secure Iraq means a strong and secure Iran therefore, this benefits both countries to be more sustainable and be able to grow. With regards to Syria, Iran has been upgrading their air defense systems to improve older Russian systems such that Syria ranks in the top 10 countries when it comes to air defense. The targets Israel keep bombing are Iranian and allied activity which is proof Iran has more than a say in Syria, they are a presence that Israel fears. Jordan resumed relations with Syria and Saudi Arabia has opened up talks with Iran. This is a major shift from these anti-resistance regimes and only benefits the resistance and its supporters. The future of the Resistance is very promising as it is quickly replacing the falling Western influence and hegemony. With regards to your last comment, people want to live free and will die for it, that is why people join the Resistance. Jobs are secondary to let time pass, its happiness they want. The capitalistic system has proven its not sustainable. Its so toxic that mental health issues in capitalistic societies are through the roof. The Resistance, the idea that we are all one unified community, the practice of helping and giving is the remedy to ones own dissatisfaction.

Very good knowledge and facts about Lebanon's politics by Mr. Khalil. Political corruption is almost in same in third world countries, since the advent of forced Neoliberalism by US and West. Communists in all the countries except China/Cuba are as corrupt as other parties and have indirect ties with right wing parties. In India also we experience similar economic political conditions as Lebanon except war with neighbors. Very soon India may face similar economical conditions as that of Lebanon in few years.

Rania,, your guess keep repeating the "Golf"!! What "golf" is he referring to??! Golf of Mexico, golf of Tankin, or 5 thousands years old Persian Golf?! I found it amazing that a so called social scientist professor has never taken a Geography 101!! Or is he simply ignoring the truth that most 'golf-Arab' states are American local gas stations and American military junk-yard! This is not Arab nationalism! This history ignorance. The true 'Arab-nationalism' is on 'life-support' if not dead!
