In this video, I take a trip for the first time ever to a place where history has been made in the past years. Santee Cooper is known for its giant fish and literally one of the best places to fish in the world. The combination of two lakes of Moultrie and Marion which is the largest lake in South Carolina feeds to form Santee Cooper. Endless amount of structure for these fish to be in but my main focus was the shellcracker and bream. Knowing how big they get in the spring, it was definitely a trip that had to be made. Basically fishing in a jungle and dipping bobbers with worms near cypress trees was the way to go.

Go back the first full moon in April. Night crawlers will be the trick. 3-4 days before and after the full moon. You want be able to get your hand around them they're so big

Most of the fish you are catching are what we refer to as bream. Shellcracker are darker in color and have that same big black dot as the bream but no red/yellow on the breast.

Let the worm hang off a little bit more. It's a trick that works down there. Also they like green worms

Note the red pvc-type pipes at 3:46. They’re also down lake from Low Falls in Stumphole. Anyone know why they’re there or what they mark. I assumed a “safe” area devoid of stumps just below the surface but no one has ever been able to tell me for sure.

They mark all known stumps especially in openings used by the majority. To get back around to Stumphole when the lake is low you’re better to go around to Stumphole to put in and go straight out and you’ll get there just as quick and easy. It’s called Stumphole for a reason so you better be careful running wide open or going over idle at all.
