@@Clark-shoots-bricks i thought she played ok enough the first half last. Im not sayin shes perfect, she does have a lot of turnovers, however, if you watch the games, shes getting blitzed and her teammates are not a true threat like the USA Roster players have on their teams, making the defense soften. But even with that her stats are right there with all those guards on USA roster, including fg% you mention(all those guards except Sabrina are shooting well short of 40% including the 3) while on a stretch of 11 games in 20 nights, playing playoff level defenses in which 9 of the 13 games were against literal contenders(and 5 of them were on the road) Put any of those USA guards in that situation and they probably don't look much better. This includes questionable coaching(remember Sides has never been a head coach on any level before this,) Is she likely as good or better than them right now? Prolly not but this notion it's that big a gap right now I think is shortsighted.

(5:48) One of the best in the game points out that Caitlin "Where ever she is" has to be guarded, usually by the best defensive player on a team. And yet the talking heads from ESPN claim she "Struggles" that she needs to grow and earn the right to be in the Olympics. Clearly, the reason for keeping Clark off the team is not about basketball but rather social, political and gender demands.

The crazy thing is that the analyst continue to lean on her "marketability" argument. But if you really actually stop. Today. Go through all the statistics of the guards currently on the Olympics team. Look at Caitlin's. They she matches them pretty much one by one. It's a very close call. Their only argument that they have to go on is defensive strategy, and as they said experience with the team. The youngest player is 26 years old. But it looks insanely bad as there were so many other rookies that were previously taken. It really does look like she's being singled out. 😮

HERE ARE THE FACTS. Rookies have been on the Olympic team before : REBECCA LOBO IN 1996, DIANA TAURASI IN 2004, CANDACE PARKER IN 2008 AND BREANNA STEWART IN 2016. Here is the average list of their first 12 games rookie year (in fairness to Clark who played 12 games so far). YEAR HEIGHT FG% 3P% FT% TRB AST STL BLK PTS REBECCA LOBO 1997 6'4 0,33 0,21 0,68 8,17 1,92 1,08 1,67 11,83 DIANA TAURASI 2004 6'0 0,45 0,42 0,81 3,42 3,83 1,25 0,75 18,25 CANDACE PARKER 2008 6'4 0,47 0,38 0,74 9,58 4,08 1,58 2,25 16,75 BREANNA STEWART 2016 6'4 0,42 0,19 0,84 9,75 2,92 1,08 2,08 16,33 CAITLIN CLARK 2024 6'0 0,36 0,32 0,90 5,33 6,33 1,50 0,92 16,83 As you can see Caitlin Clark is a better free throw shooter, highest in assist, 2nd in PTS, 2nd in STL, 3rd in 3P%, and a better rebounder and shotblocker than Taurasi at the same height. A way better than Rebecca Lobo (who had 0 game in WNBA during the 1996 Olympic) in all categories except TRB.

When SAS said what he said, it left them speechless. Now she's trying to defend herself, make rebuttal and it's getting worse. Caitlin Clark has Mamba Mentality. She knows how to play. The US women's team has blown out their competition. You can grow the sport and win. Those things are not mutually exclusive. All women should support Caitlin Clark; if they want more money. The best player in the league makes a little over $250K. A NFL kicker's starting average salary is more than 2X that to put things into perspective. They should be paid millions per year. For that to happen, they need to grown the league, which will in turn growth their revenue, revenue streams through TV deals...More players will get brand sponsorships, sneaker deals....... This is just sad and pathetic to listen to. Not to mention, Diana Taurasi is way past her prime. She had a HOF career. But she's not on the team because of her play and will most likely play limited minutes.

So let me get this straight. The USA has sent the best 12 female basketball players and have won the gold medal for several consecutive Olympics now. Did that bring new and unprecedented viewership after they won each time? Now, the WNBA has been gifted someone that attracts more eyes to the women's game and the more eyes watching, the more money to their pockets supposedly. But no, they want to send the best players who have no mass appeal and no pull to the average Joe even if they were much better and more deserving skill-wise. It doesn't matter if CC has to come off the bench and play a few minutes but the new fans she brings to watch them, no matter how annoying they are, are still gonna make them money with viewership, attendance and merchandise sales. That's the problem with women hating other women, they put emotions/feelings/jealousy first before a good business decision.

They have won 9 straight gold medals, while having a young up and comer, on the probably every roster! They are breaking tradition! On this season's all around stats, Caitlin ranks in the middle of the 5 guards picked, and how many of them are being picked up from their own goal line? How many of them are constantly double teamed in the scoring half. How many of their goals have been open shots? And she has been setting rookie records anyway. I agree, having a rest would be great for her, but if you had actually thought about it, that was obvious for the last month. How come quite a few of those on the team, had 'their time' come a lot earlier?

You want the eyes and windfall she brings but you dont want her on the team because thats really what theyre saying. She wont do it as wnba is her dream but just to give these players a dose of reality, i hope CC leaves for cube's 3 on 3 or europe. A league that can rival the wnba. See where the money goes. Points to ponder: its the fans that keep the wheel turning. Its the fans that pay for everything. You play, we pay. You talk non sense, we pay. If shes leans into the popularity instead of develping her skills, she will end up being the 3-point 1/2 time entertainment at games. Saying ppl are jealous of caitlyn is mentally feebleminded and lazy.

Right Decision + Wrong Target = Wrong Decision. Contrary to Andraya Carter, according to USA Basketball, the National Governing Body for the sport of basketball in the United States. The mission (TARGET) is “promoting, growing and elevating the game at all levels” NOT the myopic view of just winning the gold. What’s the use of winning gold if no one is there watching? Won’t including Caitlin Clark on the roster help to promote, grow and elevate the game? We’ve already seen how it’s been WITHOUT CC, why not try it with CC? We need to do better ladies!

for some reason, the media is OBSESSED with asking stewie about caitlin all the time. enough of this stewie and caitlin narrative. it’s so disrespectful to stewie who’s one of the best in the world.

@@billeh60 Stewie was just in the finals last year and actually won a championship in college and the pros. The Liberty routinely sells out. If some want to see the media hype with the worst team in the league, your words, they're welcome to. But Breanna was known. Sabrina went against Steph at the all star game and almost won but somehow yall expect people to believe nobody watched these players.

I’m a new viewer of the wnba. I never paid any attention until Caitlin. It appears to me it’s an ugly product. I’m not talking about the basketball, many of the people. Maybe it’s like the NBA before Magic and Bird. It may take the younger crowd like Caitlin to class it up because she certainly is classy.

How many times will the announcers during the women's Olympic basketball pre-game mention Clark's name. Doesn't matter no one will watch those games again anyway.
