Cryoablation kills the breast tumors by freezing them at -140 to-160 degrees. We do this treatment by putting a cryo needle into the breast tumor under ultrasound guidance, similar to a breast biopsy. Cryoablation has the following advantages over the traditional surgery
1. It is done with local anesthesia and mild sedation in centers outside the hospital.
2. The procedure is practically painless and the patient return to normal life immediately.
3. Since no tissue is removed and no skin incision is made cosmetic appearance of the breast is perfectly preserved.
4. For this reason, it may be a better choice in multicentric/multifocal breast cancers.
5. In case of recurrence, it can be repeated in the same region with no adverse effects.
6. It can be done in the lymph node metastases of the breast cancer.
