A Faerie's Cancer Journey

A Faerie's Cancer Journey

Күн бұрын

Hi Friends! In this video I reveal which breast cancer surgery I decided to do and why. I also discuss the things that you need to do to prepare for breast surgery and reconstruction.
Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers during my journey. Most especially on my surgery date. I appreciate it so much! 🙏🏻
I hope this video (and all of my vlog videos) helps you in some way on your journey. I truly appreciate all of your comments and reading your breast cancer survivor stories, experiences and tips. I am so grateful for YOU!
If you are sharing my KZfaq videos - THANK YOU!! My goal is to spread awareness and help others through my journey as much as I can. Cancer is silent, sneaky and scary. When I found out that I had stage 2 breast cancer, the first thing I did was go on KZfaq and search what to expect & what am I going to look like on chemo, how am I even going to survive this treatment plan, etc…so I truly hope that my journey helps someone who feels scared, lost, or has “fear of the unknown”, whatever they’re looking for to find inner peace, I hope they can find it through me and my journey. We are all in this together, we are family, we are fighters and we will WIN this battle together. 🙏🏻💕😊
Love You All,
Bri

Thank you for this educational video. Now I know what to prepare for. I have chosen to have a unilateral mastectomy without reconstruction. I wasn't able to get my chemotherapy treatment yesterday (#3) because my neutrophil count was only 0.75. Didn't even dawn on me that could happen. What a year this will be. May God continue to cover you with His healing hand.

Very well said!Thank you for this informational video - I think a lot of us are overwhelmed by all the decisions that need to be made after diagnosis, without fully understanding all of the ramifications. I had bilateral mastectomy to aesthetic flat closure and I couldn’t be happier. Life without boobs is very freeing for me, but I realize that everyone is different and must make their own very personal decision. I will be thinking of you on Valentine’s Day, knowing that you are well educated and will be fine :-).

I love how knowledgable you are going into your surgery. And on Valentine's Day! Too funny but actually good to have loving energy all around you! It does sound like you made the best decision for you. One good thing about not having nipples is that they aren't there to be sensitive in the cold weather! I have enjoyed the perks- no pun intended- of that personally lol! Being I stayed flat I am interested too in your reconstruction journey. Cancer sucks but it is really amazing what potential the protocols offer. Also taking care of a plant has been proven to help w recovery after surgery. I got a cactus and now I have a whole cactus garden! It felt nice to have plant life near me and was a gentle joy in it all. 😊💕🌵oh and something good happened the other day and I said to myself that I'd put it in my win bank. It felt good so thank you!

Love your videos. I just want you to know that even though we all comment how positive you are, it's going to be okay to not be okay after the surgeries. It will be real and we all know the issues behind the scenes, like not being able to wipe yourself properly, not being able to drive for a long time and maybe even needing someone to physically pull you out of bed or off of the couch. We don't realize all the things we use our arms for, until we can't. It's okay to be sad over the loss of your chest, it's okay for you to not sleep properly, and okay to just be upset for a while. You won't stay down for long, but those obstacles are part of it, and we are here for you to vent if you want. We'll still admire your strength!!!!!!🥀🌻

Hi!! Aww thank you!!! You are absolutely right. It’s funny bc I asked my plastic surgeon “will I be able to wipe myself??” And she said yes (slowly) lol!! But we shall see!! I joked and said I should just get a bidet installed before surgery so I won’t have to wipe much at all 😂 But all jokes aside, I do expect some days to be tough. And I took photos of my breasts (recently) as sort of a “farewell/memoir” for when they are gone. Something to look back to…I’m sure that I will have days here and there where I miss them or feel sad about losing them. But, what will help to keep me happy is knowing that the cancer was removed and I did everything that I could to prevent future occurrences from happening 🙏🏻😊💕Thank you for your kind words and for being here with me on my journey. I appreciate you a lot! 🥰

I’m in year 2 of every 3 months seeing my surgeon, oncologist and radiation oncologist. They do a physical exam, check my healing skin following radiation (all healed now!) and check how I’m doing on Anastrazole (well - very few side effects thank goodness!) I do annual MRI. It was offered and I said yes for the peace of mind.

Hi Bri, I'm 9 days post surgery (bilateral mastectomy) I really haven't had much in the way of pain ( just taking a combo of Tylenol and Advil) I have 4 drains ( hoping to have them removed tomorrow). I have a pouch belt but actually found it easier to just put them in my sweatpants pocket. I highly recommend a mastectomy pillow. I tried wearing the compression bra right after surgery but found that it "rode up" and sat on my incision. I ordered a chest wrap with Velcro closure on Amazon and found it to be much more comfortable. I haven't really looked at my incision, it is a very strange feeling. Sending prayers and positive energy to you on the 14th !!

Hi!!! Oh wow these are great tips, thank you!!! Also thank you for sharing your experience! I actually do have a mastectomy pillow and a wedge pillow (from my same friend who gave me the drains/belt). I’m glad to hear that you are managing pain with Tylenol and Advil. That give me encouragement & hope that mine will be the same or similar! Yay! The chest wrap sounds like a great option too! Did you have expanders put in, too? If so, how do they feel so far? Also, how is your range of motion doing? Thanks again for sharing your experience. I appreciate it so much & I’m happy that you are recovering well!! 🙏🏻💕

So, your keeping the skin on your Rt breast with the cancer being so close and what you explained at the beginning of the video? I’m a bit confused as in not being free of the skin due to the cancer being right under the skin?
@AFaeriesCancerJourney
@AFaeriesCancerJourney 5 ай бұрын
Yes and no, the surgeon will be removing the skin on the right side where the cancer is close to my exterior skin (about 2-3” of skin will be completely removed/taken off my body) and then all of my tissue inside my right breast will be removed as well. Then the remaining skin that’s left will be “spared” and stitched together (where he removed that 2-3” piece) and left flat (until I’m ready for reconstruction) I apologize for the confusion - I should’ve been more clear on that part! 😊💕

Brie, I've been hoping and praying that you were going to do a double mastectomy because you're so young and you have the gene. This makes me very happy so you can be around a long time. As for the nipples, you can always get nipples tattooed on if it really bothers you. My daughter had radiation first then a lumpectomy. Then she went back for rearrangement and lift of both breasts. The radiation changed the skin on her breasts so much but now it's been almost 3 months and the skin is fairly normal now and the swelling is finally gone. It is such a long process. If I'm not mistaken, I think they took 6 lymph nodes. That was the worst part of the entire process for her. She would get a buildup of fluid in that area because your body has to learn a new way to drain without those lymph nodes. That area was always swollen. If that happens to you, go get lymphatic massages if you can. That helped her tremendously. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing your journey. You explain things in a way that it's easy to understand. Most women (including my daughter) didn't even know where to begin once she found out she had cancer. It's so much to learn in a short time so this really helps women that are just going through this now. You are the best!!!!
