Discovering we have a breast mass or being told we have an anomaly on our mammogram is always panic inducing. We always think of the worst. However, in the majority of cases, the diagnosis will be benign.
In this week’s video, we go over the benign pathologies we most commonly encounter in our daily practice.

Very helpful I’m going thru menopause and I found all of a sudden a lump or a cyst on my left breast exactly the way you described doesn’t bother me! Thank you for putting my mind at ease, I panicked when I felted! I will keep an eye if it does gets any biger😅

I had to go for an ultrasound for my right breast thank God it's not cancer, it can be scary tho when they want you to come back and then you hear the news, and it was all kind of thoughts going through my head!

She said not to self diagnose and to get all breast concerns checked by a doctor. Early detection and treatment is the very best chance of breast survival, so it's really not worth it to self monitor. You can go to a doctor and either get complete peace of mind or early care for something more serious. If you delay you'll have nagging worries that surface and need advanced treatment is its serious and you delayed treatment. I pray you are well and have gotten care and have peace of mind since you posted this.

Thank you for somewhat putting my mind at ease. Out of nowhere, I noticed a lump in my right breast a few weeks back. I was alarmed because I just had a normal mammogram earlier this year. I have an appointment on Tuesday with my GYN, and based on your very clear description, I believe the lump is likely a cyst. I am 43 and within the perimenopause age range.

Same here! I feel so much better too after seeing this! I’m 49, perimenopausal, and noticed a painful lump on the left side of my breast a few months ago but the tenderness comes and goes. My mammo didn’t show any concerns but the ultrasound came back showing irregularities over the lump. I’m literally waiting now for the prescription to be faxed so I can make a biopsy appt. I was panicking a bit. I also think it’s mostly likely a cyst. I pray yours is too. Something simple and benign.

@Dr. Michael Wow! How thoughtful of you to check up on me🤗🤗! I had the appointment, and the radiologist initially assumed it was a cyst too. Her first question was if I drank a lot of coffee. However, I was diagnosed with Fibroadenoma. I was offered a biopsy. However, the doctor said the tumors were benign and didn't think the biopsy was necessary. He instructed me to have a follow-up mamo in 6 months. My mom died of breast cancer at 67 six years ago, so I am leaning on the side of getting the biopsy. I have a phone appointment scheduled with my gynecologist to discuss with her further. I am mostly relieved and optimistic but still proceeding with caution. Thank you for having this channel. I just subscribed and look forward to more videos.

@@Learningvideos421 hi yes it’s all normal! The biopsy was a little painful because the lump is close to my bone but it was benign. It wasn’t even something they felt needed to be removed. All I. All not so bad but was uncomfortable. And the technicians were so kind and talked to me and made me not so nervous. Are you going for one soon?

I have a lump presently investigating it , l had a mamogram & ultrasound last yr Oct but was not told l had a lump , but in early around August l began to have itching under my breast with little bottons , so l went to my area health office to check with the doc , he sent me to repeat my ultrasound so am awaiting for the report , in the meantime l developed pain near my under arm & in the breast as well , am praying for it to be ok when l get the report next month

Hello good day ma thank you for teaching two weeks ago I felt a tiny lumps on my right breast so i went to do ultrasound scan and this the results there is ipsilateral benign looking lymph node. There is traglandular hypoechoic mass of size 0.5 x 0.3cm in the 11 0' clock (upper outer quadrant) and am worried please and solution thanks.

I previously had positive mammogram for calcium deposits looked like 5 dots in a row left outer breast went every 6 months for 2 years than cleared to do yearly mammogram well I did not go last year and I received a reminder I had missed fast forward this past Thursday I knew she got another view of my left breast and it took until the next day for my results something was up and it’s a 5mm mass ? It’s 1/4 inch circumference left upper outer breast why call it a mass ???? Well I have to follow up Thursday 3/17 with a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound it being round with no weird edges is a good sign I read anyone have any comments there is absolutely no breast cancer in my family

After biopsy path report I was told I have benign Atypical lobular hyperplasia cells that needs to be removed surgically .My question is surgery 100% absolutely necessary? Thanks so much for sharing, I am over 35 and seems like I have a cyst like at the lower rim of my breast , last year when I had my mammogram they said the mass was under the skin, my then medical doctor said try warm compresses that hasn’t helped much; now I have to get a new doctor since my former one is no longer in business; the round mass is sensitive right now and causes pain with movement since I am on my period, I am waiting too see if there will be any changes after my period goes off, I do have a discoloration in the area and it’s very sore to touch, it is o the bottom right inner breast area under the rim of the breast, should my next step be trying to consult a breast specialist?

I have a big mass in my breast that I had checked 8yrs ago and was told it was lymph nodes and this past year I have lost a lot of weight and not sure if the mass is bigger or if I can now feel and see it when I lay on my left side because my breast are way smaller. I don’t have any big signs of cancer, the breast with the mass is a little bigger but I’m pretty’s use it’s always been a bit bigger my whole life. I can move the mass back and forth with my fingers. In a situation where I have done MRI after that I did ultrasound every six months for two years, and it's remains the same size. Black beauty, I'm not a doctor but all I can tell you is that you shouldn't have mammograms that often. I dare to say, almost never. Do some research yourself about mammograms. Also, research signs or symptoms of breast cancer instead of doing mammograms. It may have its place in people with cancer or high risk but not just everyone.

And they also said probably no benign probably not cancer.... What up with these doctors!?!!..... Only biopsy can determine if it is a cancer, just find out that I have a mess of 1cm and they want me to get a biopsy but I choose to wait six months and get it checked again, I am praying that it's not cancer...

I just went through this. They found 2 masses. Very close to each other. They did a biopsy today for both of them. Monday I get the results. Freaking out. Saw the images, 1 looks not as scary the other, larger one, looks scary its over 5mm long its not looking good. I'm 43, I'm scared to death.

@@hajareli7597 it did, thank you for asking. What they found is nothing to worry about but, I go back in 6 months for a follow up. Now, I get to pay all the bills from it. So far, we're up to 7 grand, I've paid a little over 3 grand. I blame the vaccine, I didn't have any health issues until I got it. 😕

i've got 15 lumps overall. One breast has one lump that just keeps growing and growing. I'm 19 so breast cancer chances are super low. I've got to get a biopsy, but I just want to know what is causing all this mess.

Same! But mine are small lumps that moves around when i pinch them with my two fingers. Pls give us an update after your biopsy result come out :’) should i worry n get mine checked too?

I have these big lump on my right breast measuring 4.02 cm and my bi-Rad reads as category 4A that says low suspicion of malignancy. However my surgeon advise me to undergo a surgery., Im scared of needle. Do i have to worry about this because as of now im hesitant to undergo a biopsy😔

Paulo, contact your local county hospital and explain your financial situation… I’m sure they can still do the mammogram under some grant… don’t let this go. Please have your wife see someone.

If a patient has a fibroadenoma in each breast, could it be possible that one is painful and the other is not? I learned 6 months ago that I have one fibroadenoma super close to the surface on one side, and one that is a little less palpable on the other. I feel like the one closer to the surface aches most of the time, but I barely notice the other. Also, would it make any sense to remove one surgically, but not the other? My diagnosing provider offered no additional information after the biopsy results came back. I'm finally going to ask my PCP these questions when I see him in a couple weeks, but was curious if you had any additional input.

Thank you for the response! The surface one is visible to me, but most likely nobody else would know it's there. It doesn't take much pressure to feel it though. I think that's more disturbing than the fact I can see it. I have a surgery consult coming up in less than a week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will at least take the more noticeable one. Wish me luck!

This is very helpful, I had a mammogram a week and half ago. They called today, I do not know why it took long to call... but anyway, the nurse assistant said I had a 6mm massin my right breast. The word mass scares me. she set up a diagnostic test and ultrasound for next Monday. I already get anxiety this is not helping, The report she read to me, is category 0? For further testing, I Just you tube and found this clip. Can you maybe help me understand the 0 part? I moved from NY to Cali, 5 years ago, and not have had a mammogram in 8 years or so.. when they say mass it is just causing stress. I would think they would set my appointment sooner? Maybe help understand for me, what category zero means

I previously had positive for calcium deposits looked like 5 dots in a row left outer breast went every 6 months for 2 years than cleared to do yearly mammogram well I did not go last year and I received a reminder I had missed fast forward I knew she got another view of my left breast and it took until the next day for my results something was up 5mm mass ? It’s 1/4 inch circumference why call it a mass I have to follow up Thursday with a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound
