Breeding the Most Peaceful Fish in the World

After discussing breeding fish in a live stream a few weeks ago. I got the bug to start breeding again. Something besides bushynose plecos and guppies that is. The Paracyprichromis Nigripinnis could quite possibly be the most friendly and docile fish in the world.

Hi Bob, those are stunning. I've never seen them before. I have reef tanks but these have tempted me to get a freshwater tank set up. What size tank would you suggest for a pair? What lights do you have over their tank?

I heard that if you keep these guys with a breeding colony of substrate spawners like Lamprologus brichardi or Altolamprologus types that the Cyprichromis will naturally spit near the rock piles and the Lamps will often 'adopt' the babies on accident. Have you ever heard of or experienced this?

Interesting project. What size tank for the combo with shell dwellers? What are your parameters and pH mgmt strategy? Btw...I've never "farted on a butterfly" either. Does that make me peaceful?

Bob, you do know that Rubber Lip Plecos will eat that black bear algae. If they can take your ph that is. Just 1 Rubber Lip will put a nice dent in that bba, might take a couple weeks to notice.

I'm not a cichlid person, unles they are nano, shellies, etc, but I am always about picking up knowledge, and somebody making me laugh. Wouldn't fart on a butterfly, still sniggling.

Love the paracyps. I wish i didnt have them with cypichromis and multies. I wish i had a tank all to themselves. I feel they survive ok with multies and cyps. leptosoma just fine, but havent been able to get them to breed, and im guessing thats why.

Does anyone think a group of 12 cyprichromis leptosoma would do fine in a 40b with a pair of telmatochromis temporalis sp. shell? I've heard the temporalis are incredibly agressive.

My 30 gallon has two pieces of wood I can no longer see due to them being covered in black algae. I, like you, love it. My other tank is growing god algae also as it gets an hour of sun a day soon to disappear though due to winter.
