Hey guys, welcome back to this weeks video! This is always a top request from you guys, and I couldn't be more excited to share all about my hair routine! Over the last 6 years I transformed my hair routine. In my early 20's I was a hair dresser, until I became highly allergic to hair color. This lead me to damaged hair, a hair chop, and relearning everything I knew about hair. That experience changed my life, and everything I do in my hair routine. Enjoy!

I am an Arab woman from Iraq. Specifically, we women in Iraq have very long and dark hair as well. I always wanted to change its color to copper, but after seeing this clip and you talking about your hair with great love and its color, I changed my mind and decided to keep it dark brown. Thank you, girl.

Im 60 and I have very dark dark hair ,from My Grandmother whom I adored with all my heart and I would never chance my hair color just because of that ,I thought about once years ago but I never did and I'm so glad I didn't .I'm 60 years old and I still have long dark hair and it's pretty thick still also .I think to many girls always want to chance to much about themselves and I wish they wouldn't and would love what God and their family gave them.

In case y'all don't know, blonde hair as an adult is almost as rare as red hair. Unless you live somewhere like Norway. Being blonde myself, and having white blonde hair as a child, I was just grateful my hair didn't turn light brown as both my parents did. I'm glad I never hated my own shade of blonde just because it got darker with age. Obviously not the first person to say this but your natural color is gorgeous and compliments your eyes so well!

For Germanic descended peoples this is an age marker. The Scandinavian peoples are unique in that their blonde doesn’t darken.

Your natural hair colour is beautiful, I'm so glad you managed to give up the dye and recover from the allergic reaction. I have what other people call "mousy brown" hair, and I was so self conscious about it when I was younger (I'm now mid thirties). I've had people describe their natural hair colour to me as an explanation for why they dye their own hair, and they always just end up pointing to my hair. I've never dyed mine though, I've just grown to accept it. When I was younger I always wanted to be either blonde or a dark brunette. Thanks for sharing your hair care tips, they're really helpful. I'm already using a wooden hairbrush but probably need to be more careful with my ends to maintain my length.

I have not tried a turban but my hair is also straight, fine and kinks in a braid. One way I like to sleep is to separate my hair into two sections and twist each in the same direction and then twist the two sections around each other in the opposite direction and tie the end with scrunchie. You must twist the 2 smaller twists in the opposite direction or it will fall out. It keeps the hair together like a braid but gives more of a several day old curled look than the kinks I get with braid waves. I hope this may be helpful to someone!

guys...air is a chemical. everything is a chemical. you're not allergic to chemicals, you're allergic to specific ingredients that irritate your skin personally. some people are allergic to peanuts, but that doesn't mean theyre bad for everyone. dont fear-monger "chemicals." natural doesn't have a standardized definition. hair dye is not simply a chemical on its own, it's just an irritant. it's a harsh substance, not chemical. i left peppermint essential oil on my scalp on accident and it gave me blisters and burns...and it's "natural." stop calling things "chemicals," and start calling them, "irritants," and that usually will only apply to you and some other people. loved the video, though :)

I am a former cosmetologist (for about 2 years, now I'm an accountant) I am also into natural ways to care for my hair. I wash mine only twice a week and I also do the split end trimming. But I do still color my hair (just the roots to cover the grey, I'm 55) and its only the roots, I don't run it through the rest of it, whatever trickles down, trickles down and thats good enough. Thank you for a wonderfuly informational video, and I love the gardening. Have a wonderful planting season.

So, I'm Scandinavian. I have platinum blonde hair even as an adult in my early 30s. In winter my hair tends to turn reddish golden blonde with platinum highlights. So darker. What always helped.is about once a month put peroxide on my roots and either sit out in the sun or blowdry. Don't do it too often though. Lightens the hair a a few shades. Then once spring comes my hair lightens naturally anyway. Peroxide works beautifully on natural blonde hair. Just make sure you use a hair mask and condition very well after. Oh my hair is very healthy and soft and shiny. It's also down to my butt.

I'm early into your video and already it resonated with me. I have your same hair colour, bothkid and adult. Getting called "Dirty blonde" or such term made me not really value my own natural colour, like it was "not pretty anymore". I liked black/dark, esp as my mother was dark haired and has since gone a beautiful silver. I think healthy hair beats any colour and I'm a few months back into my natural hair transition. I remember my husband's family (Hispanic) shocked me by telling me my 2-3 inches of roots were blonde, and I realised I was comparing my natural blonde to bottle blondes and ruining it with heat/dye in the process. Your vid is inspiring.

I spent all of my teens - early 30s dying my hair darker. Finally grew out all the dye and am learning to love the natural color, including the random white hairs. I actually like the way they sparkle. Oh and something great for shine and hydration is to use a small amount of all-natural body butter on damp hair after showering (maybe half a pea size on bra strap length hair.) No greasy look like with oils, but leaves it so soft and manageable.

Don't agree with going as long as you can between washes. I go about 3-4 days, and while living in Alaska if I go out a lot in the summer (hiking or fishing or camping) I wash my hair even if it's before the 3-4 days. Scalp health is so important & getting any allergens & things that contribute to flakes or itching off the scalp is so important.

Ah thanks so much for sharing about oil dispersion, this is the first time I've ever heard this! PS have you ever thought to make your own shampoo bars? It's pretty much the same process as Cold Process Soap making, just you do 20% castor oil for shampoo bars instead of the usual 5% for soap. Simple, cheap (mine come out to $2-3/bar but you can save more if you buy in greater bulk) and totally addicting making shampoo bars, soaps, shaving bars, etc as gifts for friends/family and the best part is you have 100% total control over your formula. You can even use rice water to make them :)

I’m hitting a similar wall without the allergy. I’ve been coloring my hair for 25 years I am EXHAUSTED. Im growing out my natural color and using some semi permanents in the meantime so it’s not so obvious but I’m ready to embrace the gray and natural color! I appreciate this video!!

Honestly i want to add that it's sad how we never seem to be happy with what we have. She used to dye her hair almost black even if most people believe "blonde hair" is what everyone wants. Rather, it seems we always want the other thing 😢

Thank you for this video so many good pieces of info! As someone who has a lot of breakage, super curly hair and takes forever to see length, I want to soon invest in a wooden brush and turban or case. I will try trimming my hair like this! Do you have any thoughts on heat protectants before styling?

thanks for sharing! I have similar hair to you and have been using oils. After seeing you only apply a small amount I realised I was using waaaay too much and as a result I have been adding too much protein to my hair causing it to break at the roots (The oil blend I use has olive oil and coconut oil in it) I am going to try the less is more approach now!

It's crazy I went through something so similar except I didn't go to cosmetology school I just dyed my hair until I got allergic to it I went to the hospital with blisters and chemical burn for the longest time the only thing I used was baby shampoo I was scared of everything else I just recently started using different shampoos/ conditioner and my hair has grown out all natural to the middle of my back and I'll never dye it again I have very fragile hair so it's been difficult to grow out but I'm finally getting a routine Thank you for sharing your story

well, it is easy for a blonde person to keep that natural color and live with it :D and i am not talking about her and the people who is allergic to the ingredients in the hair dye. I am talking generally. It is ok to be natural and everyone who wants it should do it cause it is awesome! But not easy for a person who has a brown hair which gets orange (and the ugly orange) in every damn summer :D

Hey a similar thing happened to me. I started dying my hair age 15 and I allways bleached dyed or toned it every 2-3 months. In spring 2021 my sculp and body started to react differently, I had a constant itch but no dandruff redness or rashes. I was showering 2x a day and washing my hair every day (I sweat so much from working, also I did sports... and showered to long and to often) I can't use shower gels anymore. My dermatologist just gave me a re-fatting shampoo. My sculp is very sensitive. I took medicine for a year against my acne and now my skin and sculp is even more sensitive. I can only shower every other day and not with hot water, I still can use only very mild sensitive shampoos, and my head allways itches. If I use the wrong shampoo my body itches for a couple of days (I assume cause the water runs over the body) I don't know if this is an allergy like contact dermatitis but I think it is cause certain ingredients I can no longer use. Even in skincare products some just make my face feel burning.

This video has shown me that my pet peeve is when you say you want to eliminate chemicals from your body and hair care and people act like you’re an idiot who doesn’t know water is a chemical when you are talking about eliminating harsh and carcinogenic and damaging ingredients from your lifestyle. Like guys why are you being this stuff up and fighting when you know what people are actually saying. Please find happiness and peace and stop commenting if it is not positive and just destructive!

FYI- I looked into the same silk turban & realized it was NOT cruelty free, so I returned it. Looking into cruelty free silk material for pillow cases or bamboo which apparently is a great alternative for hair/skin. Just wanted to share, as I didn't know this & had to do research to find out. So cruelty free silk uses the cocoons after the worms have come out where as normal silk fabric is created by boiling the cocoons with worms still inside. Idk why they choose this method over waiting for worms to come out... Anyway I vote for cruelty free all the way! 100%

Have you trie Viori? I started using them back in October and it has completely changed my hair. I used to have crazy fallout and slow growth. Ever since I started using them my hair feels thicker cuz it’s not falling out by the fist-full. I didn’t know I have a problem with my scalp 😂 but it fixed it and it shows.

Hi, I want to get out of a hair coloring horror loop. I just color it to bring it back to my natural hair color but of course it doesn’t last, any tips? Will I just have to suck it up and let it brown and cut them off slowly? Also, does the apple cider vinegar change your natural hair color? Thanks!

I’m growing my hair out. I’m having trouble with really dry ends. I’m trying to find a shampoo and conditioner that works well but I can’t seem to figure it out. I’m currently trying apple cider vinegar for a rinse and it’s ok. I have curly hair and it makes it so much more difficult.
