The DJ at our Sugaring-off party this afternoon played Brenda singing Vulindlela at my request. He found it on Spotify. People LOVED it! I live in Montréal, #Canada. An ex-pat Japie! I love her music and spirit. So sad about her death. She lived her life to the fullest and did not cause harm.

They're songs that really catch you, the rhythm hypnotizes you and can't stop enjoying it... Definitely you're lucky people to be born and raised with this rhythms, they're the best and catchiest in the world, in important part of Western's modern Pop, R&B, Soul, Hip Hop, Rock or Reggae draws a lot from the African musical tradition. I grew up listening to Brenda’s Vuli. Her music travelled wide and far and was well known in Ghana. I really miss those innocent days. And I literally burst into tears when I saw Mandela. The world has really changed. I pray God heals the world.

She died at 39. So sad. I miss her. I lived my childhood listening to her. Miriam Makeba. Angelique Kidjo. Yvonne Chaka Chaka. I lived in Ghana but I heard them all the way from their countries. Brenda has no idea what her music has done to me.
