However, today you can also enjoy a good life by establishing realistic goals for yourself, moral standards you feel good about, and exercise that "gut feeling" you have about major issues that come your way. Do what you think is right, not what others say or do. Be your own person. Maintain these standards and you will like yourself and other will respect you for it. Good luck to you..

These days, there are many people absorbed with their cellphones (before that [especially in the 1990s or before] they regularly gossiped; children these days are self-absorbed, obsessive and constantly selfish; department stores are going out of business these days; and I prefer the times when we had fewer things stuck in our heads. Also, I was born to parents who failed to handle me or my younger brother properly, especially without realizing it; alas, my brother and I were two of the fewest children who had poor obedience, serial misbehaviors and frequent complaints, which seems to have made me a friendless and lonesome adult. Well I hope that you didn't have parents like mine, or parents who frequently ignored or abused you. Besides, what was it like during ~your~ childhood? In my opinion, a childhood at that time would be classic. Now I've said it.😉

@@benspalding3370 Hi Ben: I totally agree with your assessment of today's lifestyle. I, too, disapprove of it as it is not what I am familiar with. Technology is eradicating "socializing" as I once knew it. People go out to dinner and events but never talk. They ignore each other while punching letters on their phone's keypad. I am sorry to hear about your unhappy childhood. I was quite disturbed by it because I know of others who have had similar childhoods. Lacking a degree on psychology, I was not equipped to give appropriate advice; however, they knew I was always there for them which did help. Parents are not given a course in how to rear a child so the parents and the child end up teaching each other. Fortunately, I had a happy childhood and am very grateful I did. Some of my friends who were not as fortunate, have a lot of hate, anger, resentment, etc., toward self and parents. Both made mistakes and can't seem to forgive those mistakes. That is difficult to do; however, when one can forgive, they can move forward. It is so important to love yourself and take care of yourself. You deserve it. I had better sign off before "youtube" sends me a notice telling me that my time is up.
