Transcriptions have their place in learning boogie woogie, but relying on them alone is a mistake. BK

Brenden, thanks so much for all you do here on "the tube"! Yes, the excruciatingly slow breakdown of the riffs helps tremendously! Thanks much!

Thank you!! Getting to see these more elaborate riffs at slow speed and repeatedly is VERY helpful!

Hi Brendan, I'm a new subscriber. I haven't played piano in 27 yrs! I have wanted to learn boogie, blues/rock my entire life! My uncle used to play and gave me 2 lessons and then moved across the country. My piano lessons consisted of classical music from little old ladies. I'm not knocking classical. It's great and it really gives a good knowledge base for music. But what I wanted and still want is to PLAY boogie/blues! So THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and being SO INCREDIBLY PATIENT with all of us newbies! I replay and replay your videos. But sometimes, I just can't get something you play because you go over it bit fast for my slow mind. So THANK YOU for SLOWING THIS WAY DOWN!! I know its difficult and tedious for someone who had played most of his life. But we are forever in your debt AND you are helping keep this genre ALIVE!

lol - Absolutely excellent!! I've been working on your earlier slowed-down version of this (which is also superb) and have got the 1 & 4 chord sections but am still working out the 5. I was going to ask for another vid just on this...and here it is!! Many thanks again Brendan. Great job!

Brendan Kavanagh Hi Brendan. Well, I've now been working on this for 5 days and have now got it to where Les Dawson would be real proud of me :) Although I got the right hand alone pretty quickly, my problem is putting them together. In fact more than that, it is also trying to figure out exactly which beat of the chop each part goes with. To practice it, I've broken the right hand into 5 or 6 pieces and then just work on each bit to try and nail them individually before trying to stitch them together. I start the chop first and then come in with the right hand bit very naturally with no locking up of the hands. Funnily enough, the last bar was the biggest help in this regard, playing it over and over again. Many thanks again for your help Brendan :)

Hi Brendan, I found your channel about a month ago and have been working on the first 4 lessons of the How to play amazing boogie woogie piano. I have been playing my own, simple and rather boring boogie woogie since I was a teenager, (I'm 54 now), and have always wanted to do more. Your you tube videos are wonderful for me to learn to do this. I also got the free pages for the first 4 lessons and have been working with that and the videos almost daily. I am hoping to get the sheet music files for Christmas, (it's on my list). So I have the right hand down on Hammy's Boogie, not counting the quick little rifts you showed in this video, and I have the left hand chop down but putting them together is excruciating. Not physically painful but putting the two hands together is something my brain has not wrapped around yet. I figure if I keep going at it, one day it will click. But this video was very helpful for where I am now because you are showing me exactly what I need to do to make it a bit snazzier. I probably won't try to add the quick rifts in yet as I just now getting proficient with the basic notes but will keep watching this one over and over until they are burned into my brain. Thanks so much for being there to help my boogie woogie piano dreams come true.

+Roger Courser Hi Roger, good to hear about your progress. Study the Hands Together Lessons: kzfaq.info/sun/PLiqPOxHnrY0wqy3P5287w10wfIXzZgdrM&action_edit=1 Also, your progress will speed up 10x with the sheet music transcriptions and other stuff which comes with the Badass Boogie Bundles. See it more as an investment rather than a Christmas Present! Cheers, Dr K.

Dr. K I have been asked to riff for about 8 bars or so on Sing For Your Supper. Chords are F7, G minor 7, 2nd measure: F7, 3rd measure B flat 6, D minor 7, 4th measure: G minor 7, C 9, repeat. It's in a kind of Andrews Sisters upbeat boogie style. Can you help?
