Oh my gosh same! It’s because it was on adult swim laaaaaate at night so when I was a kid and would stay up watching tv with friends we would watch Cartoon Network and then go to sleep with it on and sometimes I’d wake up or barely be awake and I’d see this. Didn’t even know this was a real show!!

The dialogue from this show just flows in such a human way. You could see these conversations happening in real life, and that's what makes me love this show. You could just give me the audio files and I'd be set.

For the first two seasons they used a writing technique called retroscripting. Essentially giving the voice actors a basic layout of how a scene was supposed to begin and end, letting them improvise a fair chunk of the dialogue and give it a more conversational quality.

This was back when adult swim had those weird intermission screens of old people at public swimming pools and good shows like Mission Hill and The Oblongs. Now it's about psychedelic vaporware and stupidly awkward live action shows.

I'm pretty sure most of the folks that remember and liked those shows back then are in their mid 20's early 30's right now.

@@bloodruststaples Boomer isn't an age anymore, it's a mindset, you could be 17 and still think like a Boomer. Also, it's just funny to me how people always go *Oh this was so much better before* on the literal best moments of anything, sure, I can say that about Steven Universe or The Amazing World of Gumball and I'd still feel right, enjoy your old cartoons like the Boomer of your mind demands, but please leave your condescending attitude for yourself, there's people who didn't stop living after the 2010. Vaporwave is also not really a thing, it's a meme that got pretentious enough to fake it as a style, you're just thinking New Age Psychedelic art, which is quite honestly some of the best work there's ever been in Adult Swim. Their videos with Chamber of Reflection by Mac DeMarco are hauntingly beautiful. Thank you for misunderstanding basically everything I meant with my comment, I forgot people on the internet need things explained in paragraphs and even then they'll keep arguing.
