@@petermalkovic8635 I don't know much about David Rappaport and only learned about him very recently as I've been rewatching some Star Trek. It doesn't seem Brent was well acquainted with David the way he's telling the story, it seems they met on set. If that's the case he only would have know him the 2 days they worked together. Yea it's a shame he's making mistakes but this occurred almost 30 years before this interview and he's attempting to recollect on a colleague he only knew for 2 days. It was a failed suicide attempt over that weekend by David causing the recasting of Fajo. David would then die by suicide a few days later. Unfortunate mistakes yes they certainly are, but I don't think Brent is being malicious or intentionally getting his facts wrong.

Yeah, Brent named David as Michael Rappaport. But to me, what he got right was two points: Saul Rubinek is a great actor, and Warehouse 13 was a great show that was taken off the air too soon. Also, David Rappaport didn't kill himself at that time, it was an attempted suicide. He soon succeeded on May 2, 1990. I can forgive Brent for not knowing the details, as he only worked with David for two days almost 30 years ago.

@@tessdurberville711 Really? Tell me exactly where you were and what you were doing 6/11/2010 at ten in the morning. Unless someone you know really deeply was dying, there was a birth, a birthday, you got fired, you bought a house, you got married... Unless there is a big touch stone the likelihood is you don't remember that specific day at all. The further back you go, the more true that becomes true, until you hit childhood, where memories are often the strongest. Brent Spiner worked with a guest actor for two days back 30 some odd years ago. He worked with a lot of guest actors for a couple days for seven seasons of TV. WHY would he remember the details of that one in particular anymore than any other ones?

I firmly believe that he did not in fact shoot, because it would have been ignoring his programming for rage, since he could keep the guy in check, AND he would have lied to his friend and commanding officer, since he said "maybe something occurred during transport". So either data is a homicidal rogue android betraying his friends, or he didn't actually shoot the gun.

Spiner was fantastic as always, and it's a testament to Mr Rubinek's talent as an actor that he was brought on so late in production yet somehow managed to pull off one of the best Trek guest roles ever. One thing I find interesting about the episode as it was filmed, is that when Fajo reveals the location of the forbidden disruptors, they were in a drawer style wall safe at a height which Rappaport would not have been able to reach without standing on something. I wonder how they would have shot that particular scene or would they have used a different container down at a lower level.

I wish they would have done a follow-up movie of this episode instead of Insurrection. Fajo escapes prison and competes with Picard and the Enterprise to hunt down a powerful artifact from an ancient galactic civilization. It’s strange they only just released those originally filmed episodes now…cuz if that’s the case I don’t see how he did acting in the 2000s since the original episode was filmed in 1994 and the “original actor” killed himself at that time, but still went on to do acting starting in 2001… still something fishy about this story…

He was recast, and then he killed himself a couple months later...I just found out about it on youtube and now I have multiple videos popping up about the recast. does he actually think hes data? You know when people are a bit unhinged when they say me instead of the character name. Mark Hamil knew he wasn't Luke, I know method acting is a thing, but not usually after they are no longer in the part.
