I was living in Green Bay when Favre came to town. The Packers had been a terrible team for most of the years following the Lombardi era. When Favre came in for an injured Magic Man, no one really knew what to expect. Who is this, "Favray" guy? Most of us didn't even know how to say his name correctly. He came in, and things didn't look good, but in the end he threw the game winning pass. The excitement began to grow as he and the Packers just kept getting better. It was Favre that reignited the Packer Nation and helped to bring back the Lombardi trophy to Green Bay. Unless you were there, I mean actually there, as all this unfolded, it's nearly impossible to understand what Brett brought back to the fans of Green Bay. As the years went by both good and bad, it was those years in the mid 90's, that cemented his place in Packer History. He admittedly made a mistake at the end of his career and was going to retire, then not retire. But in the end, who are we to fault someone for their decision to continue to play and continue to make money in his profession. His stats are what they are but as the sold out stadium in July can attest to, those of us who understand, realize that we loved watching that kid from a small town, Kiln Mississippi, play the game he loved with the passion and energy that put Packer Football, back on the map.

He showed flashes from that Cincy game on...never a dull play, it was always dramatic. Threading the needle, rocket balls, overthrows, interceptions, touchdowns, fumble, etc. it was a special time until ‘94, 95, 96, 97...he really came into his own. Holmgren was on him...I wonder if his coaches had stayed firm or “Parcells” - like coach would have kept him at that level of accountability.

Thanks for posting. I grew up in Green Bay and obviously a a fan of the Packers.. This is one of the most prolific times in the franchises history. Right after Favre gives Starr a hug, they (NBC) had to cut to commercial breaks. That pissed me off. There's enough advertising already, who gives a shit Toyota has a sale on their cars or Burger King has dollar burgers. Why don't the networks start just advertising every other play in games, ridiculous.

Many guys, including greats like Marino, Montana etc, have played the position - but Favre was one cool customer, no doubt about it, he still is a cool dude..... :) Others may throw for more tds, less interceptions etc etc, but I see noone surpassing his consecutive starts EVER ! That speaks volumes about number 4's heart...... which is all that really matters at the end of the day.

+Mikeilivesthelife Coming from a die-hard Packers fan, you're mostly correct. While I do believe Favre had at least one season that was better in his pro career, he did do an amazing job in 2009 and led the the Vikings to a 12-4 season (overall 13-5 with adding post-season), not to mention winning almost every NFC North division game (the one loss being their week 16 game against the Bears). He was a great QB no matter what team he played for.

In what way do you think Rodgers deserves to be anywhere near the same level as Start and Favre? He's a miserable egotistical diva who never hesitates to throw any and EVERYONE under the bus to avoid blame and I don't mean his little half hearted "oh I probably couldve made a couple throws better" any qb worth anything will act somewhat as a shield for other players allowing them time to develop and get better or work with them on WHAT went wrong but Rodgers just gives a go to hell look and pouts nine times out of ten

I enjoyed seeing starr make it back to lambeau more then seeing Favre. Favre was great in his own right but pales in comparison to bart starr. Starr never got this kind of luxurious welcome and celebrations like favre did. Also you cant hear it in this clip but in another one you can starr tells Favre he loves him very much and Favre didnt answer. Bart starr embodies and epitomizes what a football player and human should be. Brady might be consider the goat of this 20th century for quarterbacks thanks to social media but bart starr is truly the GOAT.

I know Green Bay fans know and realize how fortunate they have been for over 60 years at the QB position while all the other teams struggle or are cursed at the QB position (exa: Chicago Bears)!!
