Brett Favre was drafted into a situation where half of the front office loved him, and the other half did not. That led to a miserable Rookie season. #BrettFavre #Packers #NFLDraft

Why don't you ask the poor people of Alabama how happy they are that he stole millions of dollars from government funds for his own use? He's hardly a fucking Christian is he? You should be embarrassed for supporting such a slimeball

Wolf & Holmgren knew quarterbacks. In 1994, they had Brett Favre, Mark Brunell, Ty Detmer, & Kurt Warner in camp.

Ron Wolf was a genius. Glanville left tickets for Elvis at the will call booth for home games. That explains a lot...

There's a story that when the then unknown Favre first walked onto the Packer practice field, one of the older veterans asked who the new linebacker was. Someone answered that he was not a linebacker but was instead their new quarterback! The old vet thought that he was pulling his leg. Favre's image of toughness and determination stood out early in his career at Green Bay and helped revitalize the storied Packer franchise.

I was at a high school basketball game when a friend told me the Packers traded a 1st round draft choice for a Falcons QB. My first thought was "sweet, we're getting Chris Chandler."

As a falcons fan and UGA season ticket holder I was excited when the falcons drafted him because I saw what he could do when he played against us in Athens not long after his accident and surgery. Then they trade him? I was so pissed, and I knew why.

As a diehard Cincinnati fan, no one lights off a rookie QBs career like the Bengals.

Glanville used that line on all the rookies. And Farve did himself in at Atlanta.

He sure did. When he was drafted, he was an immature drunk who was developing a painkiller addiction after nearly dying in a drunk driving accident in college.

@williamhermann6635Ай бұрын
@@Milto21 Well yeah eventually he quit the drinking and pills but it took him a while to turn the corner on the field. A combined 37 interceptions his first 2 years starting in Green Bay speaks for itself. My first comment was speaking about where he was at as a rookie. He was an absolute mess and 3rd string on the Falcons for a reason.

No, the Ron Wolf story is absolutely true. Why do you think Wolf gave up a 1st round pick for a 2nd round player that wasnt even starting?
@cutehumorАй бұрын
Jerry Glanville is still alive! Jerry Glanville would have been a hall of fame coach if he kept Brett Favre. Jerry Glanville regrets on his deathbed "I should have never traded Brett Favre!!"
@verlongates2279Ай бұрын
Just a tiny bit of perspective could be added here. Glanville's version of this story is just a little bit different. Glanville says that they wanted to teach Favre to be an NFL quarterback, but they could never get him sober. He's not the only one who says that Favre had a problem with alcohol, and never gave himself a chance until he confronted that problem and got sober. So, there is a possibility that Favre's version is self serving.
@MightyAvengingLeoАй бұрын
Billy Joe Tolliver tells a story about getting Favre drunk every night of training camp. Tolliver was the backup QB but knew Favre had a cannon for an arm, so he decided to trick Favre into screwing up in training camp. Not sure if the story is true, false, or half-true. Wherever I heard it, Tolliver told it as a humorous anecdote.

I remember a story Kevin Greene told about when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers against the Packers. He said he was tackling Brett and got up to celebrate and saw Ahman Green in the end zone with the ball. He said, "I had him we were going down". He laughed when he told the story because he was now a Packer! Brett never gave up. He might throw an interception but he never gave up. We don't know how lucky we are to have had Brett and then Rodgers and now a shot with Love.
