1816 Brevard Place, known as Brevard Springs, is one of Camden’s most significant Estates. The grand Greek Revival was built in 1827 by Dr. Alfred Brevard, a cousin of the Mexican War hero, James Polk Dickinson. The estate exchanged hands many times among several prominent families. The current owners bought the house in the early 1990’s and brought it back to its current condition and glory. The main house has 5 bedrooms, 4 full baths and is impeccably decorated. The traditional four-over-four architecture offers a large central hall and grand staircase to the second story. The manicured grounds include more than three acres with a Tea House, tennis court, large greenhouse, fruit orchard, brick walkways and secret gardens. The home features heart pine floors, soaring 14-foot ceilings, six original fireplaces and dramatic interior moldings. Homes like this stand the test of time.
