The Brexit is probably being postponed - but why? Even with a second referendum, the whole thing would start again from the beginning.

England: We want to postpone Brexit. Random Anglo: The tyrannical EU is trying to stop us from leaving!!!
@TheAngrySaxon15 жыл бұрын
Most British people don't blame the EU for this, at least not directly, however you have to admit that there's obviously a personal financial motivator for British politicians involved somewhere. We were given a vote, we voted, and then we trusted our elected officials to respect the vote. This isn't happening, and it's a very big problem for British politics, possibly the most serious crisis Parliament has faced since the English Civil War. The worst of it is that - short of an armed uprising - there's not a lot we can do about it, we have to hope the Leave camp outmanoeuvres the Remain camp, otherwise we're stuck for another year or more.
@ilovecoffee76235 жыл бұрын
The point of my comment was to make fun of the unbelievable and indescribable mindset that so many people in your country have. Your own governmetn asks the EU, even begs the EU for delay, and yet the entire media empire starts blaming the EU that they are trying to stop the UK from leaving. I have no words to describe your media. I am a Libertarian and against any state controls over the press, but in your case, jesus chirst, that's not press as we all know it, that's more like a paper-blog or something like that. If it's OK to make it illegal to scream fire in a cinema or incite violence, then it should be also be illegal to deceit millions of people every day. There is a difference between having an opinion and maliciously deceiving people. People in your country have extremely distorted perception of reality. Another thing i can't understand is why on Earth is someone who was against Brexit made the PM? Why didn't the consv. party elect someone who was in favor of brexit? My personal interpretation is that this very much conforms to what i would describe as English culture, which is to avoid responsibility at all cost. All the pro-brexit people ran away and nobody wanted to become a PM, instead they pushed someone who never wanted brexit, and then gang on her and started blaming her for everything instead of taking the lead themselves.
@TheAngrySaxon15 жыл бұрын
@@ilovecoffee7623 The media are propagandists, they all have an agenda, and so their 'news' reflects the narrative they want to spin. The pro EU media are just as bad as the ones blaming the EU for this fiasco, not to mention all of the baseless fear mongering we have been subjected to for nearly three years. They exist only to serve their political overlords, and ceased being relevant as true journalists many years ago. The ordinary man on the street is sick and tired of the whole sorry charade, we just want it over and done with so that we can move on to solving the very real issues in our society, issues not being addressed because the political elite are too busy trying to secure their obvious financial interests in the EU. We all know that's why their so desperate to stay in, it's a club where the rich get richer, and we all pay for it. As for the PM, she is probably the worst we have seen since Neville Chamberlain. Not only did she vote remain, but she simply wasn't qualified for the job, as we can see by the absolute shambles she has made of proceedings. How did she get it? The usual backstabbing, intimidation, and media smear campaigns against her rivals. It was never about who was best, and that's the problem with British politics, too many useless tools making their way to the top. If they cannot or will not deliver on the people's vote, then perhaps Parliament is in need of replacement, with something that actually stands for - rather than against - the country it is supposed to govern. It's an outdated institution, and has gained far too much independence from the voters in the last few decades.

@@TheAngrySaxon1 You cannot talk of "Most British People" in anything regarding Brexit. The UK referendum was split roughly in half on the decision, with 28% of the electorate NOT EVEN VOTING in the referendum. UK Parliament is MORE representative of the complex opinions of the British public than the non-binding binairy unsubstantial referendum, yet is being accosted for not following the will of the British people by brexiteers. Brexiteers are, by the referendum, 51.9% of 72% (= 37,368%) of the British electorate. This is all simple maths and there is no counter to my arguement. Brexiteers don't understand basic democracy yet they yell that the EU is undemocratic. Utterly hilarious. -a Dutch EU citizen.

@David Bowman If you are trying to say, that rich countries would like to educate their own citizens and give them the best jobs, and then give the worst, dirtiest and hardest jobs to the immigrants, then you are right. But, EU citizens have been living in The UK for decades now, and The British are starting to become somewhat envy, because we (EU immigrants) are growing into the British culture, we start to buy homes, make businesses, get good jobs, etc. But it's been predicted by knowledgeable people in The UK, that if all the EU immigrants suddenly left the country, it would have disastrous effects on the British people. EU citizens in The UK, are thought to be 'stealing' benefits+social funding, but we actually make incomparably more money to this country, than we take out via child benefit, house benefits, etc. Many polish people work in the factories, on the farms, etc. Other polish, graduate British universities, then they work in the offices, take different prestigious jobs, etc. One thing can be said about most of the immigrants - They have better lives here than they had in their homelands, so, it does not greatly matter, what social position you have as an immigrant. That's why I think, that British need to have some ice cold water poured over their heads. Well, it would be the only good thing, from the Brexit, so far.

Please don't put all British people in the same bag, most of my friends wanted to remain, but they clerverly targeted the elderly and people who barely travel the world and all they know about the world is the tip of their toes. What we are living here looks like a bad joke. A campaign full of lies, the leaders of that campaign resigning the day after they won (lighting the fire and running away), and a Parliament full of people who don't know how to get to agreements, even when they are paid for that. Theresa May was a remainer, now she is delivering Brexit, if you can call this "deliver". In general, British people are very arrogant, they still think that they are the Great British Empire and the terror of the seven seas, and everyone is going to bow before then. That's why they can't understand that EU doesn't want their deal, because in their minds it's reasonable that they should have all the privileges (like how spoiled they were in Europe, driving on the other side, having a different currency and using miles per hour and non-metric systems (pounds, stones, inches....). It's a bit of a shock for them that people don't want to do what they ask them for, so please forgive them. British people will get their sovereignty back, even if it means using it as a blanket for the growing numbers of homeless people and for the ones with jobs but still using the food banks.

@Slobodan Petrovic the problem with the referendum is that it wasn't as simple as vote 1 or vote 2. While people voting remain all wanted the same (things staying as they were), people voting leave wanted different things. Some wanted a hard brexit, some wanted a Canada plus or Norway style, some wanted a soft brexit..., so people who voted leave to have a Canada plus deal would be disappointed if there's a hard Brexit or viceversa. I just hope that children and people in need don't end up paying for all of this.

I like sharing, meeting people from different cultures, build a future together. So yes, I'm disappointed at the results

Instead, the next day David Cameron announced that Scottish MPs would be losing their voting rights, the question was settled for a generation (this from a party that wants to bring the same ‘deal’ back to Parliament over and over and over) and announced an EU referendum where Scottish voices were ignored. Scotland is one of the richest countries in the world and has the same oil reserves and population as the actual richest country in the world, Norway. @TyroKitsune5 жыл бұрын
@Slobodan Petrovic Actually, I would prefer revoking Article 50 entirely as it's clear no one has a clear answer over what parlement wants to do. Government wants to push their deal; most MPs don't want a No Deal, don't want May's deal, can't agree on a definite way forward enough for majority and seem actively agreeing to avoid agreeing to anything to ensure they keep their jobs rather than get something done. But if we must leave, fine; would you at least agree that parliament is arsing it up royally? Remember that the majority your parading around was only very roughly 4%. There's still a decent chunk of the country terrified of what's going on and likely thoroughly angry it's being arsed up. If MPs will hold the referendum result to heart and act on it, then let's get the facts straight before we pull the plug on security, financial viability, regulatory oversight and cooperation when it comes to immigration. Please, I'd like to speak amicably. Why do you have such confidence leaving will work? Even now?
@TyroKitsune5 жыл бұрын
@Slobodan Petrovic OK, I feel your just throwing rhetoric at me. I wish I could share your confidence but frankly: no, I don't think we could rule well outside of the E.U. For one, we'd still be cutting out a massive and convenient trade area and pissing off our allies. If we want to have any further trade relations, we have to follow E.U rules on stuff or they're not allowed. The genie is out of the bottle and we're dealing massive damage to useful, invaluable systems, like SIS; the security network that helps boarders catch crooks. Also, there's the catastrophic damage to the UK's Soft Power this has done. The video we are discussing this on is a good indication that Europe want the UK to just do something. That's damage for decades to come. Also, we do elect our own MEPs, I believe. Its part of a broader democratic process. We had a voice. This seems like getting angry at Liverpool because their MP voted for something you didn't like. Its supposed to be a larger scale parliament that governs generally so we can work with our allies overseas. If anything has impoverished public services and poorer areas, I'd sooner point a finger at a about a decade of Tory rule. What with pointless Austerity measures that gut our services and impoverish those in need. Food bank usage has gone up since they took over. And with the incompetence on display in how they're handling the divorce as well as the underhanded attempts to get a majority on May's deal, I can't say I share your optimism.
@TyroKitsune5 жыл бұрын
@Slobodan Petrovic I feel your still just throwing rhetoric at me rather than just talking with me here. Soft Power is the UK's brand that allows it to influence other countries without anything but their reputation. Its a powerful thing if well maintained. All this 'umming and aaaahing' is making us look inept. If we are going to go global, then all we have between us and being screwed over by, say, China or Russia, is the WTO rules, as I understand it. Do you not think we'd look desperate for anything once we do actually leave? Two years and the government has done seemingly nothing but badger the E.U negotiation committee with weak platitudes bound in red lines that have meant nothing could be agreed on. The evidence to backup the experts seems apparent to me. I'll stick to critical thinking and the word of people who's career is to understand the processes and give their better educated perspective. The UK hasn't earned blind patriotism from me. Furthermore, I cannot let that last comment slide unchallenged. Have you looked outside lately? Cities are showing the increase in homelessness all over. You've got to have noticed more people sleeping rough. They're there because automation and recent, massive shifts are more likely to blame. Don't call people 'lazy' when poverty in this country has visibly increased. Its hateful and dispassionate about your own homeland.

@SabuPtolemy It was the UK under Thatcher that wanted the Single Market, she figured out it is nicer for her mates to exploit more countries than just her own. That the EU has become a success also for the citicens (on the continent) who could start travelling freeling from Holland to Spain by car without being checked several time when entering another country. In the UK unless you have travelled from NI to Ireland or back you never experienced being pulled out at the side, fully packed with kids and your car was taken apart, leaving you stand in the rain and having to put it back together without help. We enjoy our EUwide health care and that we are allowed to move somewhere else, set up a business or buy a house. Things which were not easy before laws were passed. You either needed lots of money more or knowing who to bribe to get an exception. The EEC was for the businesses and it would not have worked nowadays unless you expect them to be sheep and not question why business has all freedoms and people not. I am happy that there is no roaming anymore and moreso that the landline fees have dropped to Zero when 20 years ago a minute to the UK from Germany cost 80 Pfennige (40+cents) when flights cost 400 DM instead of 50 Euros, with food, health and workers' rights being improved. And the UK opted out especially on these last subjects, you have Zero-hour-contracts and people work not one hour a week and are not recognised as being unemployed. etc etc etc
@brigold33525 жыл бұрын
@SabuPtolemy Of course everyone wanted the single market after it was proposed by Thatcher and the advantages for every of the member states became clear after years of discussing it. I and many people I know give a fuck of being checked on the borders again. Having to pay custom fees or VAT for anything of value being imported i.e. touring bands to only claim the taxes back at the next border they have to pass and same again. This will cut out especially many of the small touring bands as they will not have the funds to deposit everywhere the VAT for their instruments and gear. Cultural exchange through music and other arts will be hampered. The structure of markets changed through history, it used to be the romans who collected the taxes throughout Europe and parts of Africa. Everywhere on the globe markets have been build by countries entering into closer trade arrangements instead of solely trading via WTO, some form or another a EUbody would have formed and evolved to more closeness. It is funny for someone living on the continent to hear that the EU27 bully the UK and the EU28 (incl. UK) are bullying Switzerland. Look closely which country is the most demanding and with the most exceptions to their partnership. You have an EU+++ membership opposed to everyone else who has a EU membership and you feel bullied by having the best deal. You are aware that there are different education and training systems within the EU nations. They are legislated by their own governments and not the EU. The only thing regulated by the EU is that to be able to work in other countries as skilled or highly skilled workers or else (electrician or doctor, uni level entries etc.) these skills have to be at a minimum level to be allowed i.e. to be an electrician in France when you were trained in the UK or else. Internal affairs on how you handle your system is not interfered with and especially the UK has been a lazy fart and relied on trained people from the EU and elsewhere to fill their open jobs. Nurses in most of the EU countries are trained and paid for training by their governments. The UK has changed this so that to become a nurse you need to fork out 9000 Pounds a year. That is sucking resources out of other countries to safe some bucks and deny your own people filling these jobs in being trained at least free of charge if not paid for it. The EU has started some years ago programs to help with the unemployment problem for the young. It takes time until they can show big success, so far the progress is there. On the other hand you will deny your young these fundings from the EU, also Erasmus comes to mind and I doubt the Tory or a UKIP government will pay less to the top 1% if Brexit hits but they will put austerity back and much worse than after the banking crash in 2008. On top of it it is weird you blame it on the religion of people instead of individuals if you think they are a problem. The least muslim people in the UK come via the EU. You were the "homeland" of the commonwealth and you had granted them to be welcome forgetting that many of these countries were muslim origin. You received the least refugees since the Syria crisis started. Your country participated in the problem there and you do not want responsibility for this.
