Boitano was definitely an "adult" skater. I didn't understand his appeal when I was younger. He bored me. Now I realize the complexity in the simplicity of how he constructs everything. I find this program to be the best showcase for his abilities. Really, very striking.

now that I see it again I think you might be right. I think the judges stopped judging Scott after he did the second triple axel, that was phenomenal, and the crowd was on his side and it was exciting to see, but watching it again, he popped two jumps after it and had kind of a wobbly triple loop. I remember it was very close though, had Boitano not skated first it might have ended up being differnt

For some reason they usually did not all grade him fairly. I've seen him wipe the floor with some others but they got better marks. Always a gentleman, Brian would still be out there smiling and the first one to shake hands or hug the friend. God bless him.

This is how the skating should be,,,,with the new system, they wonder why no one watches skating anymore

The popped 3Axel cost him dearly, that and he skated first...

This type of program would be difficult to craft in this day & age due to the somewhat manic and overly busy footwork required under code of points. It's unfortunate because this program, particularly in the middle section, is beautifuly simplistic in its form, yet challenging in its choreographic execution.

Sorry Scott Davis, but Brian should have won this one. But I think Brian pissed off too many judges and officials with all his bitching and bickering about wanting to come back. He shot himself in the skate...

Progressed? I'd say not. Under the current judging system, I feel like I'm watching an ISI competion--everyone does the same tricks, in different sequence and to different music. How ugly is the cannonball spin that's worth so many points? Give me one of Boitanno's spread eagles any day! I'd much rather see something beautiful. Save the "difficult" tricks for gymnastics!

Scott Davis was the worst US champion ever. He had no business being on the top of that podium, and proved that internationally he sucked and never once medalled for the US
