Brian Downey ist Schlagzeuger und Gründungsmitglied der legendären Dubliner Rockband Thin Lizzy. Gemeinsam mit alten und neuen Weggefährten aus der irischen Rockszene hat er 2016 Brian Downey's Alive And Dangerous gegründet, um dem Rocksound der Siebziger zu huldigen.
Brian Downey war zusammen mit Sänger und Gitarrist Phil Lynott das einzige konstante Mitglied von Thin Lizzy, bis zu deren Auflösung im Jahr 1983. Danach spielte Downey weiter in Lynotts Soloprojekten und mit Gary Moore, live und unter anderem auch auf Moores weltbekanntem "Still Got The Blues"-Album.
Gemeinsam mit den Gitarrenvirtuosen Brian Grace und Phil Edgar sowie dem Bassisten und Sänger Matt Wilson aus Belfast, der Phil Lynott würdig vertreten kann, performt Brian Downey die Hits von Thin Lizzy vor Rockfans in ganz Europa.

As a lifelong Thin Lizzy fan. They are absolutely brilliant. Spot on. Brian is arguably one of the best Rock drummers of all time. Just give a good listen to his drumming on Emerald and Chinatown to name but a few, what a great style he has.

Brian Downey is one of the greatest rock drummers of all time. His sound is unique. He contributed so much to the way thin Lizzy songs sounded. My favourite album is Johnny the fox

Mine, too!! Downey has been my favorite drummer since Nightlife was released. I was ten and an older buddy turned me on to Lizzy with that album. Man, this is probably the best Lizzy cover band ever!! GO, BRIAN, GO!!!

Came across this purely by chance. What a band - grew up with Lizzy throughout the 70's and this is as close as it gets. Astounding musicianship there and the vocalist is up there with some of the best. Even watching this at home on computer you can feel the atmosphere from the crowd.

Brilliant, Brian Downey has put together a band that is more Thin Lizzy than any of the previous incarnations.the drums, back beat , its Brian,can't get any more thin Lizzy . sound , guitars and the singer,hes got a great voice ,just hope it coincidental on the look😂 Superb hope Brian brings this to the UK 10/10

I've always liked Phil's voice. A deeper, warmer voice than most singers, hard rock and heavy metal. This singer has the same tone of voice as him. His performance is remarkable.

Brian Downey’s drumming was so integral to Lizzy’s style and arrangements, I’ve always said he should have co-writing credit on every Lizzy original. And he’s still crushing at 72. Just incredible!!

Drummers often do not get their credit. Ginger Baker did a LOT for Cream and Bonzo did even more, and no credit.

Yes, Bonzo gets credit as Led Zeps drummer, but he contributed to a lot of the riffs. Jimmy would listen to him warm up etc. Lots of anecdotes, but Bonzo was a rhythm riff master. Out on the Tiles is his for example. John Paul Jones also misses credit too. He wrote the riff for Black Dog. So Jimmy did not do it all, in terms of writing, let alone the stuff he took from others and ended up in court. Bonzo rocks.@@crusheverything4449

Great songs, Warrior is insanely good! Gorham and Robertson were a hell of an act...still, these guys are damn good too. Singer retains the Lynott vibe but he's his own man...impressive. Loved Lizzy back in the day...real stylish band, and this is good, real good.

This is absolutely bang-on mid 70s Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous with Scott and Robbo on guitar. The pacing the phrasing, the solos and, of course, Brian on drums. He is such a tasty drummer. Fluid, rocking and with a real jazz swing. Just an amazing drummer. And overlooked, sadly, in the usual suspects top 20 drummers lists.

THIS IS KILLER. Best singer i heard out there singing Phil.. Not trying to be him, yet does him complete honor and justice. Downey sounds amazing for his age. Guitars doing their own thing, yet covering the live album. No weakness anywhere.. Les Pauls and Marshall stacks, killer tone. Nobody can play these songs as Downey can.. I saw Lizzy 3x in the late 70's and early 80's.. This is the best "cover" of Lizzy I've seen anywhere..

What a wonderful video! I’m blown away by just how good this band is. Brian Downey was always the unsung hero of the band back in the day and he’s drumming as well as ever. as for the rest of the band? Well, they nailed it. The two guitarists play so well together it almost felt like Robertson/Gorham. The bass player and singer has the right amount of swagger to go with the talent.

I am absolutely Speechless. I have always been hesitant to look at any incarnation of Thin Lizzy other than the original band that I grew up with and loved all my life, and a band that I still rate as the greatest live rock band of all time. But this group of musicians and the way in which they have been able to honour and recreate with such attention to detail that Brian Robertson period of Thin Lizzy which we all know was the greatest has left me speechless. I got goosebumps watching this. So much respect to the guys playing with the legend that is Brian Downey and his Alive And Dangerous. Bloody fantastic.

An utterly amazing performance of these classic Lizzy songs. Brian is and always has been a fantastic drummer, his swing and power shamefully goes unnoticed in the drumming lists of best rock drummers. This is the band he’s put together to celebrate Thin Lizzy and by the measure of the musicians he’s assembled, clearly more than just a drummer!! Absolutely fabulous on all levels, including the sound engineer for this performance. Please come to Scotland!!! You deserve to hear the joy and appreciation of what this band would bring everyone attending 🤘

The man at the back!!! "Live and Dangerous" is one of the best live albums ever. This is an excellent rendition, youve done Lizzy and Phil proud, awesome job Brian and co. I saw Thin Lizzy live at Carlisle market hall 1983. We got down near the front and had a great night.

Still in Love With You is certainly the best rock love song, if not the best rock song song, EVER. And this version is up there with Phil and Garys versions. Brilliant.

Great to Brian live again. He is such a phenomenal drummer and I'm so glad he didn't just roll out the pipe and slippers scenario and give up. The band are pretty awesome too.... They're not Thin Lizzy though giving the world of rock (especially the youngsters) a glimpse of real rock performed live. Wow! This is a breath of fresh of fresh air to all rock fans...

Rosalie and Dancing in the Moonlight gave me goosebumps so bad I had to pick up my guitar and play along. I played many Lizzy tunes in my band in college in the 1980s. I worshipped Lizzy then and still do. Damn this is good.

Truely excellent the closest I have heard to the original Thin Lizzy greatness ever. Well done Brian for keeping the TL brilliance alve and very dangerous. TL have been my fav band always.
