Whenever I hear a new Brian Eno song that I really respond to, I feel like I am creating new memories whilst living through them and at the same time looking back on them.

Very good explanation for the sensory experience of listening to Brian Eno which I have done continuously since first discovering him as a teenager in the 1970’s: the soundtrack of my meager existence here for ‘Another Day on Earth.’

I listened to this for the very first time sometime in the winter of 2012. I remember it well because as I was listening to the song i had a sudden mystical experience. My mind cleared and I felt I was a Consciousness that went deeper than my body, deeper than my mind. In that stillness of the mind I could watch my thoughts drifting by like clouds on the background of an eternally blue sky. At some point I felt the gap between my thoughts and the still Consciousness was getting narrower, and I was about to lose that state. It suddenly occurred to me that it was I who had chosen that, that I had willingly agreed (at some time that I could not quite remember) to forget that I was the eternal "I AM"... And that everything, including losing the higher consciousness state, was as it should be. With this thought came laughter because of some understanding of the irony of the Game of Life. Thank you Eno, for giving us good music conducive to such states!

The album for music for airports has lulled me to sleep on transcontinental midnight flights for years now. He truly is a genius. I started off as a Here Comes The Warm Jets fan, like most, and I'd already been a fan of The Talking Heads, but when someone brought up the connection that's when I started exploring the different faces of Eno. He's one of the major defining figures of my love of music. Keep telling people to try Eno. There's an Eno phase for everyone... :-)

Honeysucklebommie = YES. Once I began my Eno journey in 1975, he led me to 100's of bands & musicians, including Daniel Lanois and Michael Brook. "My Life..." is an extremely important album in terms of using "found sound" in music; a concept which myriad musicians from all genres in the intervening 30 years have taken and run with. Some books: "On Some Faraway Beach" (biography) "Brian Eno: His Music And The Vertical Color Of Sound" (theory) A Year with Swollen Appendices (diary and essays)

for some reason the end of a Biosphere song, Kobresia is dubbed over the original song here, around 15 seconds in. --those bells that sound like they don't belong. It's weird because I was listening to that album (Substrata) and this deeply at the same time in my life.
