First and foremost to those saying Terry Rawlings is cashing in on Brian Jones’s death nothing can be further from the truth, I know Terry personally both him and Paul Spendel haven’t earnt a bean from this project. The only reason this new addition was even written was due to Paul Spendel’s diligent research and being able to finally acquire (or should I say liberate!) new information from official Police reports, files, witness statements etc all of which are featured in the book. Add to that the fact Tom Keylock after 40 odd years finally admitted on film in an interview he was there at Cotchford the night Jones died. It’s also discovered Tom Keylocks older brother Frankie Keylock was head of Murder squad Scotland Yard, he turns up at Cotchford to essentially ‘deal’ with the incident and overrules Sussex Police who have a hunch something wasn’t quite right with Jones’s death. Frank Thorogood sustained an injured wrist allegedly caused by pulling Jones out the pool and is caught in possession of drugs the same night, he's not arrested but instead taken away in an ambulance (meant for Jones’s body). whilst Jones dead body is left all night by the side of the pool. Joan Fitzsimons (Brian’s cab driver) a key witness who had valuable information is found half dead on a beach 3 weeks later having been savagely attacked with a rock. Janet Lawson (Brian’s nurse and another witness) is pregnant with Tom Keylocks baby, after the incident she goes into hiding living on an RAF base with her brother. When Brian Jones’s body was finally taken to the morgue the autopsy quickly takes takes place, usually for example you would wait to see if any bruising appears before commencing. The coroner in return then strangely receives a couple thousand pounds worth of Dunlop shares. There’s far more information in Terry’s book then I can type and there are just too many dodgy coincidences with this case, not to mention there are still 80 pages worth of documentation stored away for another 40 years at the Home Office, why would that be? If there’s nothing to hide release all the files.....

A lot people and not just on this particular thread believe Brian Jones was murdered, and maybe he was. Maybe he had an asthma attack while swimming. Whatever happened, unfortunately we will never know the whole truth. But if he was murdered, then eventually karma will get whoever they were if it hasn’t already. What I find sad, is that from what I’ve read so far and seen in videos, was that he’d laid off being so heavy in drugs and in drinking and was starting to think about putting together a new band. I always liked The Rolling Stones songs from the 60’s best. I now know that reason is because of Brian and the amazing repertoire of sounds he brought to the songs. It’s sad that he left us to soon. Imagine what he could have done musically if he’d lived. One of my favorite songs by the Stones is Ruby Tuesday. Listening to Brian play the recorder has inspired me to want to learn to play. Thank you Brian for the inspiration and the music. Angels always be with you, Rest In Peace.

Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke has written a few things about Brian,he met him when he was a child & found him fascinating- Colemans family were friendly with Brian as they were from Cheltenham too. He says that in 1984 he talked to Astrid,Bill Wymans girlfriend when Brian died & the subject of his death & the rumours surrounding it came up. She said that this was a completely taboo subject in the Stones camp. He says" there was something weird about her response. It left me in no doubt that people higher up the food chain knew about the circumstances of Brians death well before the case was reopened". Also,an interesting incident from Genesis P Orridge who did the Psychico Tv " Godstar" tribute to Brian. The song got to no 29 in the indie charts & was played on Radio 1. So, their manager calls them up & says that Radio 1 contacted them,The Stones management had been in touch, with Radio 1,saying if they ever played the song again they wouldnt be allowed to play any Stones songs again. Apparently this was because in the video, which has footage of Brian & the Stones in it,when the line" where were your laughing friends that night" it shows Mick & Keith on the screen. P Orridge gave Bill Wyman a copy of the CD at a charity event they were both at. He looks at it,went quiet & just said"thanks". P Orridge said " would you give one to Mick?" ( brilliant,IMO!!) & Bill said" I dont think he'll take it". There are just far too many strange incidents about Brians death for it to be an accident & the way the Stones have spat on his memory( with the exception of Bill Wyman,it must be said) is completely despicable.

It came easy to Brian even with all the drugs and alcohol, where mic and keef had to work hard AND stick knives in backs in order to become better song writers and steal credit because they too were junkies and things didn't come as easy to them....well except for both being FUGLY.

I was there twice a week for months, at Stones’ gigs in Richmond and Twickenham, where everyone knew everyone. Jones conceived of and built the Stones as a blues band. That is to say, a covers band, playing Chicago R&B, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Howling Wolf, Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker et al. There was no original material. Jones (as the “leader”) held himself apart for preferential treatment: extra payment, different hotel from the others, spokesperson etc. Once Oldham got involved and saw that the band, like the Beatles, only had a future with original material, it soon emerged that Jones couldn’t write songs and that Jagger and Richards could. The power-base shifted from Jones to Jagger and Richards. That would have been extremely tough for Jones, who, whatever exotic instruments he contributed, found himself abruptly dethroned. He treated women badly - absent paternities, infidelity and violence - and when he tried it on Anita Pallenberg, she went with Richards, who’d seen quite enough bruises on her face. Jones, already heavily into booze and drugs to assuage his impotent fury at now being usurped twice, plotted to join or form another supergroup, but hung on in there anyway, increasingly incapable and with a UK drugs conviction that would prevent him (and hence, The Stones) touring the USA. Totally unreliable and either AWOL or too stoned to walk, let alone play, his distance from the band could only deepen dramatically. He lost interest in the band and was working on other projects when he was told he had to be replaced so that the Stones could tour. Whether or not he was getting clean, whether or not he was drowned as the result of a vicious prank, his days of any real involvement in the Stones had been over for some time. He was amazingly charismatic in the early sixties, but the difference between him and Richards was that Richards was a functioning junkie, strong, creative and driven, whereas Jones became a hopeless basket-case. He always looked like a fallen angel and ultimately, that’s what he was. There are no choirboys in the Stones, but as Bertolt Brecht observed “None will improve your lot, if you yourself do not”. Jones spoke German, he should have known that aphorism in its original form.

As part of Brian's severance package when he was fired he was given 100 thousand pounds immediately and 20 thousand pounds a year for as long as the band stayed together Every penny of Royalties went to Jones' estate and once his taxes , which were considerable, were paid the checks went to his parents. When they died it goes to his surviving sister to this day. As part of the agreement Jones could tell the press anything he wanted, things like they were split on artistic differences and he wanted to grow in another direction. The settlement was more than generous and protected Brian from headlines saying he was fired...which he was.

The mystery around Brian Jones death is as puzzling as Marilyn Monroe's death earlier in the 1960's. Both deaths still don't make sense even after all the scientific tests and methods to find out the full cause of what could have killed an excellent swimmer and guy in positive outlook for the future after July 3, 1969. Like Brian Jones she was also in happy spirits and looking forward to stuff she had planned in the days and weeks after her death on August 5, 1962.

Keylock was first Richards' incompetent minder ; rather than firing him ,Richards dumped the incompetent sod on Jones;with the inevitable consequences. That plus the fact he marginalised Brian in his own band and on top of that ran away with his old lady , probably caused Richards to have a strange reversed guilt complex that keeps the hypocrit bastard to this day pissing on Jones' grave.....That's not to say Brian had no selfdestruct button,...Keith just gave it that extra little push....

+PAULLONDEN - According to the movie "Stoned", Keyhole brought along Frank Thorogood the builder and his crew of labourers who did very shoddy building work at Keith's house and continued to do very shoddy work at Brian's house plus double billed both Keith and Brian and stole everything they could get their hands on at Brian's. This is another horrible thing Keith did to Brian. Keith should had told Brian not to hire this builder as he did shoddy work and stole. According to the movie, Brian use to drink and party with Thorogood quite often and then when Brian got drunk he use to make fun of Thorogood and call him a low-life and Brian use to have lots of young women drop by his house and walk by Thorogood and the workers to make them all crazy and then Brian would laugh at them and tell them that they couldn't get beautiful young women like he could because he was a rich, handsome rockstar. I read somewhere that the workers tried to rape Brian's maid who was some middle-aged woman so Brian wanted to get rid of Thorogood and these workers because he was worried about them harming his maid and because Brian was wasted so much, they all just took over his home like they all lived there and eventually they drowned Brian.

brian was self destructive,a shy quiet person who was a agood instrumentalist but not acomposer at all,and with a heavy addiction to drugs and alcohol while being asthmatic, the quickest way to death,so where is the mystery?from 1967 to 1969 he was 24/7 stoned, zero musical contribution, lawsuit without song writing of his own would earn IF he won the court some money for the name,or they would change their name and he could take the name to his grave,he was heading for there anyway, Keith stole Annita,ok, but she would leave him anyway, and maybe she was to be blamed for the drug addiction of brian and keith too,the other members could be blamed for not forcing him to rehab but in that era it was not like today how they treat the subject, and the record companiesc today keep their stars alive by all means, after all they are their money makers

The visit by Mick and Keith was to formalize his leaving the CORPORATION , not the group. and get his signature and agree on money. HE GOT A LOT .. TOO MUCH .. and that did not sit well with the manager Andrew Loog Oldham - who just happens to have contracted the "handy mandy" that was in the swimming pool when Brian drowned. If this asshole opens with "Brian was being sacked . you know the rest if 100% bullshit

***** Well a LOT of money is YOUR description because you have no idea how much it was. The work was shit , and a lot of stuff was missing from the house. The job was also a couple of months behind schedule (but that was Brian changing his mind) Considering Brian was half the size of Thorogood and told Thorogood and two of the massive workers to fuck off, that they had stolen enough shit .. shows a Brian Jones who did not take any shit. Thorogood was thoroughly embarrased this skinny little guy (sick no less) threw him out of the house was embarrassing. later Brian called Thorogood , apologized and asked him t come over that night for drinks. The TRAGIC conclusion "Come tonight for drinks.... No hard feelings"

+mickavellian - The rest of the Stones say that they sacked Brian. There is a rumour that Keith pulled a knife out of his boot and was going to kill Brian so they would not have to pay him the 100,000 pounds they were thinking of giving Brian so he would sign over his rights to the name " The Rolling Stones" which of course Brian owned. Mick told Keith "not like this" so Keith put the knife away and 3 weeks later, they have "handy mandy" as you call them take care of Brian in the swimming pool. The contract Brian signed with Andrew Loog Oldham had expired about 1967 and Andrew was fired and they signed with Allan Klein out of New York who hated Brian even more than Andrew did. I think the record company sort of forced them to sign with Allan Klein who ended up robbing Mick and Keith blind after Brian died. Robbed them to the point of almost bankrupcy. I believe that they got rid of Klein and that is when they all moved to France for awhile because they could not pay the amount of taxes they needed to pay to live in England.

I believe Frank Thorogood’s deathbed confession that he did indeed kill Brian Jones but it was not intentional; construction worker Frank, who was living at Brian’s house (hey, it was the ‘60s), harbored resentment and dislike towards overindulged, spoiled, (yet very talented ) Rock star Brian and acted on it with harassment & roughhousing gone too far in the pool that night; Brian’s unhealthy physical state probably contributed to his death

Keith Richards Had Brian Killed! Keith Richards hated Brian jones! Because of jealousy! Brian Jones is the Rolling Stones its his band. Keith has never said a good word about Brian since his death and there's no mention of Brian in Keith's autobiography! Keith Richards and mick jagger kicked Brian out the band then he's dead 3 weeks later, That seems a bit odd! Dont you think? If Brian lived he could have sued Mick and Keith and got the rights to The Rolling Stones name, As it's Brian's band he's The founder and creater so he would have definitely had a great case in court, Which is the reason I think Keith had him killed.

ItsFazsha ......Keith also claims he played all the guitars on “Aftermath” but Brian was still very much in the picture for that album, playing a whole lot more than guitar too. Jagger and Richards have done their damndest to write Brian out of the equation altogether but some of us are old enough to remember exactly what went down. It wasn’t only Brian either, Mick Taylor was promised songwriting credits but naturally, that was reneged on too. Marianne Faithfull had to sue for credit for Sister Morphine, a song she’d released long before the Stones ever did. She was finally given co-credit, something that was only acknowledged in the ‘90’s. They’ve always exploited other musicians and have twisted Brian’s entire story to best suit themselves.

If Brian was murdered it wasn't over jealousy of stardom in the band but more likely just over some drug deal. The guy was talented yes but a bit overrated. How many songs or riffs did he come up with? The Stones would have still made it without Brian but Brian would not have made it alone. He didn't have the drive that Mick and Keith had. Even if he had not done drugs he would have remained more of the 2nd guitarist like Mick and Ronnie. He lost spotlight of the band cause Mick and Keith were coming up with better material. It would be like putting Ringo ahead of Lennon or McCartney in the beatles.

Brian had his faults as we all did in the 60's, but he was quiet and well spoken and had mysterious charisma with a big C, that none of the others had, except maybe Bill, and that was the heart of the Stones image and sound that we all loved and followed, when he was unlawfully sacked and murdered ,that Stones image was never the same,I never bought a Stones record after that, and I started following them from day 1, It was hard. Jagger and Richards should have had the decency to attend his funeral, no excuses like flying to Australia ,that could have been changed. Brian made the Band from scratch, without him they would have never had the lavish lifestyle and fame they still enjoy to this day. One day they will have to account for their actions to God and Brian..

How was he cheated ???thats rubbish.by 1968 he was too wasted all the time to contribute ..so youre a Stones with Brian only fan ???No Mick T or Ronnie Wood for u....???im a Stones fan period I like or love songs from every line up my personal opinion is they were best with Mick Taylor.'69 and '72 tours they were on top of the world no one could touch em as well as '81 with Ronnie I am reading and have read many times the drug pushers book as its called here my 32 year old copy is falling apart so I got a new one.im not denying Brians mysicianship ...but he was not a nice person..these Brian only fans ..not only are they missing out on great songs with Mick T and Ronnie.but u get tired of how Brian was so innocent and Mick and Keith were so evil..im a huge Keith Richards fan
