Recruiting overseas athletes to ensure they win champs shouldn't be allowed. When these kids get the scholarship and go off to college they won't be identified as Jamaicans neither will they represent Jamaica on the international stage. I say we start cultivating our own long distance runners. Don't get me wrong I'm not fighting against the youngsters but are we conceding that Jamaica can't have representation at the elite level in long distance running?

Wrong idea. This is indeed what we need to develop talent. Exposing our youths to overseas talent from early will only improve our own pool of athletes.

American colleges have been recruiting Jamaican athletes for decades to do the same. Do you have any idea how many American college scouts flew down annually to watch champs? Besides that's called development. Look at Brianna Williams did you reject her when she decided to complete for Jamaica yet she was developed in the USA. These youngmen might just decide to stay in Jamaica for the rest of their lives and represent the nation. It's the same way with music, every Jamaican artiste wants a whiteman's Grammy but as a white person does a reggae song we accused them of stealing our culture. There are many more like you who complained when foreigners moved to Jamaica to make a life but can't wait to go to western union and moneygram month end time. Time to grow up .

Have you not seen the amount of Jamaican Athlete Rep. Colleges in the U.S., if your idea stands, it means the US should not allow our Athletes to run for colleges there then, Look at it this way, these youngsters from Kenya could bring such competition that might help us develop long distance runners, don't be a scrooge like American Carl Lewis, who echoed the same sentiment some time ago.

Your mind is too small or you’re too shortsighted, maybe even both. Better competition will force Jamaican athletes to get better over time, why do you think America readily brings in the best from outside?

Look at how we do in 1500 m on the senior level. This level of competition will assist our middle distance runner. Kenyan athletes are stellar at middle and long distance, we could learn a thing or two. And KC didn't win only because of overseas athlete so your comment is not relevant. Btw this is a good opportunity for the youngters from Kenya.
