A former police chief is weighing in on the Gabby Petito case, calling the events leading up to the discovery of human remains in a Florida reserve Wednesday, along with items belonging to Brian Laundrie, "quite strange."
Former NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce joined Eyewitness News to discuss his observations after the FBI unraveled new details in the case, including the discovery of remains and a backpack and notebook belonging to Laundrie.
Among his questions is just how Brian Laundrie's parents fit into his disappearance and what exactly they know.

Strange how the parents knew exactly where the mustang was and went straight to it, then 5 weeks later they knew exactly where Brian’s remains & backpack were, and went straight to them yesterday, yet, for the 5 weeks in between they remained silent, mowed their lawn, went shopping, met with their lawyer, ignored desperate pleas from the Petito’s and the public and sat and watched the FBI spend $millions searching in the wrong place……

Even grieve in public. But I will also say that they brought a lot of that upon themselves... bad choices... ghosting Gabby's family. Not turning their son in when they had ample opportunity. The priveledge Brian and his family got in this case by authorities is sickening, what's worst is Gabby is being treated as poorly as minority women missing, now the publicity is the only support I'm grateful she has and I'm black saying this, for the first time we are see women as minorities in whole that are victims are undermined. By privileged men and the Petitos unfortunately are the family who experienced the degradation that happens mostly to women of color and women considered not credible, that's sad. If you look on KZfaq at similar cases with men that are not privilege you will see how quickly they are addressed as suspects based on a girl missing for a day , look it up, this is handled with great injustice, in so many ways it's really sad, we are Gabby Petitos only hope, and I'm prepared to demonstrate, I'm not letting them sell me story's.

Can I suggest? If I were me, I usually start right here where I go, can you tell me again the exact area, I'm desperate to find him, can you draw me a map of the area? If that was my child, I'd be asking did u look here, under that bush, etc, when your child is missing, think about the desperation ,are you going to not double check everything? Not say look again? Just wait and go look on your own and your attorney basically calls to make sure people don't harass you, why not call yourself and say meet me I want to look here, come help me please, he's gotta be here, I'd call the police myself, threatening them that if they don't come I don't care I'm just going to be eaten by an alligator but I'm going without you them, I'm not saying it's suspect, I'm just saying I do believe they knew the cops missed the spot and probably thought he was alive and safe and then got worried and went when the reality hit them that he could be dead. How absolutely convenient that the "remains" were found by *Brian's parents* in an area that, until recently, were *under water*. The *investigative chops* on the Laundrie's are amazing! That or they got tired of waiting for the search teams/FBI to discover the "remains" and decided to lead them there by the nose. These are the same people who didn't report Gabby missing for over a week after Brian's return, snuck him out in their camper, helped him hide, fetched the car from an area opposite of the "remains" location, and stone walled law enforcement & the Petito family all to help buy him more time to get away. Never underestimate the lengths parents will go to in order to protect their child, imo. I hope they're fast tracking the DNA and making no assumptions! Has the family already provided the comparison samples or will they try to fight that in court? For at least a week, no one will be looking for Brian while the DNA is run. What a wonderful time to go to a non-extradition country! 🙂 Edit: typo

Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save? Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore, the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted….” Habakuk 1:1-4 You will find God’s answer in the next chapter. “Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” God has an appointed time and he says “I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” Jer 12:1 As Acts 17:31 states he has paid FULL PRICE to guarantee the fulfillment. It is a deep subject so I understand 2 or 3 verses will not satisfactorily answer your questions. It is a big universal issue that involves God’s sovereignty that can only be answered through time. Satan’s rebellion, initiated in Eden, brings an issue of universal importance-that of the rightfulness of God’s sovereignty over all his creatures, his right to set standards and require full obedience of them. Since the issue was not one of superiority of power but, rather, was a moral issue, it could not be settled merely by the exercise of power, as by God’s immediately crushing Satan and our first parents out of existence. This fact helps us understand why wickedness have been allowed to continue so long. Justice takes time but it comes.

This find right after Brian's father called the FBI that he was going to search at the Carlton reserve smells quite fishy to me. For all we know Brian Laundrie could be cooling off somewhere laughing his head off for outsmarting the Police and FBI. It would really surprise me if the remains turn out to actually belong to Brian. The whole scenario is just too convenient to be believed. On the other hand, if it turns out to be Brian's, theen the parents must have known for quite some time and were just playing both the public and law enforcement. Giving their antecedents, they're capable of doing that too

Myakkahatchee is a very heavily trafficked Park by hikers, bikers and horse back riders WHEN IT'S NOT FLOODED. Just a lite rain makes it an everglades. I rode my horse once at Carlton Reserve, at one point we rode a raised road about 10 ft wide literature lined with gators on both sides (laying on top of one another) for atleast a mile. Buggy, filled with hogs. As I said ONCE that was enough. And remember Carlton reserve is in Venice and myakkahatchee is in Northport. Maybe he killed someone else and planted the backpack so they would think it was him and wouldn't be looking for him. It would give him a chance to get out of the country.

The FBI is awfully sure it's him. If the DNA matches, of if they are able to get a dental records match, that will be the end of it.

Yea, and maybe he removed his teeth and skull, left it there and borrowed the other person's skull and teeth

@@jasonlo8780 Only teeth were used to identify Brian Laundrie and that is called dental records, CNN and various news outlets stated skeletal remains and did not state what parts of the skeleton. The Laundries could have easily pulled a tooth or two from Brian's mouth with a set of pliers and threw in some old dug up skeleton bones, along with his backpack and notebook for effect. Now did they do that? I dunno, but not like it's impossible, and it would be a strategy to thwart law and bounty hunters after you by convincing them you are really dead, to get the heat off of you. So it is always a possibility.
