U should unbolt trans support and tilt engine and then losen trans bolts, thats waaaaaaaaaaaaay easier. Motor probably is locked because of bolt on oil pump, its not hydrolocked because u have so much metal in oil, and your oil pressure light didnt went on because that e46 was m52, and u should connect one wire to dash to get it working when swaping m54 :) Greetings from Croatia :)

I had a ac compressor lock up and it locked the rear tires up going down the highway so I thought the engine locked up cause it was a clapped out engine anyway so i tried to start it and my dad noticed the belt was spinning on the compressor so I took the belt off and it started right up and ran fine and once I had a clutch explode and locked the tires up going down the highway but it busted the bellhousing too lol

@@bpastorb I know it's hard to believe and if it didn't happen to me I probably wouldn't believe it to be honest but I had a 1990 S-10 with the 2.5L engine and I was racing another S-10 and when I shifted into 4th gear it locked the truck rear tires up and I just got in front of the other truck and dude thought I done it on purpose and wanted to fight then I showed him what had happened and he pulled it off the highway for me with his truck and I thought the engine locked up until my dad got there and seen it was the ac compressor

My first e46 320d 'siezed', bump starting it was locking the rear wheels. amazingly it was the alternator, cut the aux belt off and it ran perfectly.

I bought an engine that sat for 7-8 years. It looked fantastic and runs great. So clean no gold on the cams. Genuine JDM low mile engine, never abused, never saw water or a drop of anything on it. The guy selling it wasn't sure about compression because it sat so long, cranking wasn't going to get the HLA's up. Is there anything on the timing end that could lock up Brian's engine?

I'm sorry, but in the m54 the shaft of the oil pump breaks off, you can order a reinforced one and before more treatment you need to warm the oil well so that it is not thick. I bet the engine is baked. Greetings from Poland Sprawdz. przez społeczność

Oil pump gear backed out I bet. Either tack weld or red thread lock the next one. They’re known to do that Bcuz it’s not a reverse thread

heres a pro tip for anyone out there.. go to walmart and buy brake cleaner and enginer degreaser please. its only $1.97 a can. I usually buy the entire case at a time.

@jimmyOakes I’ve had my alternator on my e46 make it seem like my engine was seized ! I was driving and it just locked on me, it legit locked everything felt like I slammed on the breaks and the starter couldn’t get the engine to turn over. Towed it to the bmw shop I was working at the time, Took serpentine belt and was able to spin the engine, but alternator pulley was seized. Caused engine to lock up haha
