Queen is one of the greatest bands of all time. Freddie was iconic and irreplaceable.❤❤🙏 Adam didn't want to replace him. However, he has phenomenally filled in those big shoes. World-class voice, charismatic good looks ..... ❤❤

How nice to hear Brian May talk about Freddie. I admire Brian and Roger Taylor immensely and am delighted that the wonderful Adam has been given the honor of sharing the stage with Queen. I love Queen with Adam Lambert ❤❤❤

Listening to Brian and Adam, on the "stool" is so moving, I don't know how the original with Freddie sounds, Adam's momentum in Love Kills is surperb. Beautiful song.

I could listen to you speak for hours. It still brings me to tears when you or Roger speak of losing Freddie. You truly were brothers...

What a great interview, by Brian May. I like how Brian May talks about Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. They are family, after 50 years. Not many bands can say that, they are family, after 50 years, can they ?. Brian May is a caring, loving, respectful, and intelligent guy.

If one day the ambassadors of the alien races landed on earth there is a short list of people you would want to send to meet them as being representative of the best of humanity, people possessing a balance of competence, humility, intelligence, empathy, and class. Brian May would certainly be on that list, for my part anyway.

Cut the shit you're just trying to make me feel stupid. Freddie Mercury was the original. Adam Lambert was just a substitute that Brian May picked up on the streets of London.

I did notice that Freddie rarely sang higher than Bb4 on live gigs. I've heard Adam sing an F#5 live which is actually one semitone higher than what Freddie ever sang in studio! But it makes sense. Both are awfully talented, Adam just happens to be a natural tenor whereas Freddie was a natural baritone.

Based on all what I have found about him Adam is both - tenor & baritone. That is probably why they made that insurance for his range.

Yes, absolutely. Adam does not have Freddie's strength in lower range, but he does--and then some--in upper range. I have noticed Adam's mid-range is getting more forceful, defined and gritty working with Queen, and it enhances everything. Their voices are very different, but it all works.

Brian and Adam consult the kind of his voice for each of the song of Queen because Adam is able to twist his voice in different shapes. So maybe he started to use it just the different way. You can find it in the videos of his musical beginnings.

+Irettlawaltteri Adam has sung a G5, G#5 and A5 several times. I've also seen claims of a Bb5 and a B5, but those seem to be contested and I'm not an expert so I can't confirm them. His range is *at least* up to A5, though.

sorry, but all that people are ever comparing is range which is just one minor aspect of a good voice and both of them has been over the average for that matter. but if you look at voices you have to compare also vibrato, tone, transitions, power and other stuff. freddie mercury was the whole package. it‘s the only voice i know that was worth a scientific survey by two austrian musical scientists link: www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.3109/14015439.2016.1156737 and as far as i‘ve learned freddie‘s voice had, and that‘s a big difference between freddie and adam, one outstanding fast and controlled vibrato which most singers have not. when listening to adam you can clearly hear and determine the slower kind of musical theatre vibrato like many other singers have. the other finding is freddies many tones he could sing and even partly at the same time like some singers of an ancient style somewhere in russia. so far it‘s no opinion, you can find it in some scientific research like the link above. i think there is also an older article about that issue. you can hear that versatility on so many records of so many different styles like through the very different songs „mustapha“ or „soul brother“ for instance. adam is one hell of a singer and can cover many of them, i guess. i‘ve already been at three concerts of them together. but adam by himself stated on brian may‘s soapbox he would love to have „freddies powerful midchest voice“, as he calls it. the problem with many critics of adam i guess is that freddie was also one hell of an emotional and passionate singer („in my defence“ or „time waits for no one“) together with the ability of being able of singing in a tone so almost no one could identify freddie as freddie when a song demanded that. he could also imitate instruments with his voice like on the song „lazing on a sunday afternoon“ and as a baritone he sounded a bit more manly. freddie was that one of a kind and very versatile singer and therefore it‘s not easy for many people to accept the well known songs in adam‘s style. younger people must understand that if you know these outstanding songs for a few decades sung by one of the or „the“ most versatile rock singers of the time you cannot easily switch your mind to adam. because every voice is like a fingerprint and freddies outstanding voice was a very famous fingerprint. nonetheless adam will go his way through because he‘s got one great voice and helps keeping queen‘s music alive.

I really wish Brian would talk about John a bit more. Nothing intrusive or negative....like how did John deal with losing Freddie, does anyone hear from John, did he like the movie, how was John as a bass player, is John like a brother? Things that everyone is wondering. Brian usually just glosses right over John, so the interviewer would have to ask directly.

because he wants to stay out of media's attention. He's wanted that since he left the industry. There's reporters, paparazzo and so-called fans that still harass him. That's probably why Brian and Roger aren't talking about him, because they respect his wish.

@@andreeaandreea2796 Yes, exactly. And most interviewers who have done at least a little bit of homework are aware of this, too, so they won't even ask.

Love Kills is reality - how many people commit murder, murder/suicide - in the name of love. Oh yeah, love can kill; you can derive exquisite pleasure from love, and you can experience the most gut-wrenching pain imaginable when love goes wrong. I totally agree with Brian.
