well it was planned tu get brian in his closer circle. the cop car startet chaseing, and when dom was around the corner they stopped and keep the siren running so brian can get to him , after brian passed the sidestreet the copcar followed around and chased both. thats why dom came from the right and the first pair of headlights was seen from the far end of the street

Of course it's worth mentioning it, a great exhaust system is paramount to a fast car, or bike, and in fact, if it's not a decent one, can screw your whole setup. Though I'm fairly sure they were talking about the ECU, not the exhaust system, as it was from MoTec. And well, a good ECU setup is definitely worth mentioning. You ain't racing if you ain't chipped.

Cause if they were to get caught in that spot. He has no way out. A building like that only has one or two ways in or out. He could be caught with 2 cop cars blocking both exists. Never put yourself in a situation like that. If you are running from the cops. You are running from the cops. Always keep at least two ways out of every situation when you live that life. So in short. It mide have bin a great hidding spot. (As far as a public place could be for a bright orange car. ) but it would be comparable if you where sitting on the toilet taking a dump. And on that precise moment someone opens the toilet door and pulls a gun in your face. Besides the obvious stinky situation that makes it hard to move. Your only way out of that box you are in. Is blocked by a person with a gun. Giving you very few choices about how you can handel that situation.

@@picallo1 Wrong they had probable cause to stop him. They were operating a sting to break up the illegal racing and street take over of the area. The cop was able to positively identify Toretto, ontop of this in nearly every state of the U.S cops are able to stop and request you identify yourself at the very minimum. Even w/o probable cause. The cop doesn't say "You're under arrest." He said "Stop! Toretto!" Then Dom ran. So we have a police raid taking place on an illegal street racing ring. Then a known street racer being spotted close to where the raid happened. The cop then has reasonable suspicion that Dom was involved and requests he stops. Dom runs giving probable cause to chase.

For a terry stop you have to have reasonable suspicion not probable cause and that means when a police officer has a reasonable suspicion that an individual is armed, engaged in, or about to be engaged in criminal conduct. At that moment Dom was none of those things. If Im not doing anything wrong and a cop orders me to stop I have no legal obligation to do so as Im literally doing nothing wrong. There were ALOT of plain innocent people on the block and it wasnt contained to a 'raid' area. Meaning unless Dom is a most wanted criminal with active warrants he can skip down the street waving a white flag and they cant touch him. Police do not get to do that kinda crap. Know your rights my man or lady.

After all this time, It JUST dawned on me that Brian probably didn't outdrive those pursuing officers. They almost certainly knew he was there undercover and made a show of 'trying' to stop him, but let him go. It goes a long way toward getting him closer to Dominic and can be implied to have been setup off-screen.

@@sycho5954 ALSO, look closely-er, that crash is the Volvo drivers fault. The scene shows he ran a red light from like 4 different angles, and hit that police car. That crash would have happened regardless of the chase!

1:30 this scene is one of my favs. The bait with the sirens to make you think the car behind is a police car is a perfect example of the distraction type of directing the first 2 movies had that really gave them the charm I fell in love with. They had really cool twists but were super simple.

They remind Brian that it was an $80,000 vehicle and at the race meeting they’re quite surprised to see so many expensive engine mods in the Eclipse. Back then it would have cost only a fraction of that money to get an Eclipse like that
