Күн бұрынHere you go brother. You had 3 people put there heads together on this one for you big brother. You now have one with a Delay Switch that doesnt drop your watts when you press it in and a nice PWR Wire upgrade that will allow this bad boy not to starve for power at all!

This was my friend Brian's TS. He passed away a bit ago but beofre he did we had traded amps when he got his back from Gatekeeper because I had a TS667V and we needed each others amps for our new radios, lol. I still have and I am still using this amp! Gatekeeper is good people for sure. My friend Brian swore by his work. 73's!

Nice job, love to see you getting better and better Mr. Gatekeeper. On your wire upgrade you should also install 1/2in chokes on the power cables it helps. Keep up the good work man it looks like it is becoming a passion for you. If you keep treating every box you do as yours you will make a mark in the Amp repair business. 73's from your friend Tech-Nine.

love power wire upgrade. pulling ground threw a thin wire from board to board would cause a voltage drop on 2879 dropping power. DX 400 DX 500 DX 667V all same box. I put the thermal switch for fan on heatsink where the 2290 goes for 667. heat sink gets hot fan goes on. I took out 1.8 1.9ohm bias out and put 1N5401 in place. gave me .68 bias was .5 in 13V .My bias was all over on SSB. very stedy .67 .68V now. I put SSB delay on all time. That's a outher way. or put SSB switch in back or put in where variable goes. Did 1 DX 400 like that. love your work!!

@robert meyer Hey brother...I actually did this with a Recent Texas Star and after doing the diode the Voltage was to high because of the 10ohms and 25 ohm resistor. It was like .74v or something. I had to keep playing with it and finally had to add another resistor beside each diode to get the voltage down below .7 volts. Do you mind checking this out again...one thought which I have done before is putting 2 x 7812 Voltage regulators along with this to keep the voltage Perfectly steady. That worked great. Love to hear more cauze you gave me the idea....and get ready buddy...im about to start releasing my videos that. I have done the last 2 years. Also can we work out a deal to get mt most prized 16 pill back...forgive me if your not the one with it lol. I believe it is you. Threemanpro (at) gmail.com

What I did to check diode voltage is put 25 ohm on board with diode and check voltage . different diodes have different drop . want to try voltage reg like 7810 or 7808 before 25 ohm or 10 ohm . both me and girlfriend a healthcare workers and ben very busy with all going on. I only work on my own stuff for now. I am mostly a SSB user. I found stedy bias cleans up audio . my station is IC 7300 with AL 572 tube amp. I have RCI 2950 also . I did the same as BBI left it stock and turned down power . I got old amps ! 73's

@@1883GotDown When I do repairs I do not list the owner or anything about them. I don't have any 16 pill I own myself any more. have some personal amps I keep' like hot plate . dx 400 dx 500 .4 pill ab bias MRF 453A . I did buy in past a NXP 65V LD mos pills. NXP does not make them anymore. have 2 boards . 3 to 30 Mhz and 6 Meters. have not had time to build . I won't use switching supplies . it will be iron ! may do video . I took out keying on hot plate and use foot pedal . SSB ! next project is foot pedal with 2 switches ! 73's

I run a Texas star 500 v in my mobile and I was curious as to how I can wire up a remote switch because it is a pain reaching behind the seat to shut it off or turn it on..

I have designed a Remote Mod for the 400 to 667s but I need for someone to send me one that wants one done. There is a bit you have to do since the PWR Button needs to be pressed. So I am adding 2 relays in the circuit. I could do 1 relay 3pdt but I don't have enough room. So I will use a miniature relay for the B+ for the lamps..relay..and bias..then a DPDT Relay for the Main part of the Remote. The remote will then be used to turn these relays on or off. Still interested? Wanna be the first to have one done that I know of. My normal price for this would be $80 minimum cause of the labor that needs to be done. The removing of the board..etc....for the first person to send me one I will do it for $60

You can actually hit those 500Vs with 100 watts? I was worried about hitting it with 40!!

I Personally wouldn't. This was back when Toshibas wernt 200 each lol and 140 for red dots...but if you think about it...a older 667 with a 2290 driver..that 2290 can do up to 100w no prb. Probably 60+ nominal. This was just to show the maximum output of the amp and that it was finished up right. I no longer hit them this hard in my videos. I got done with 6 x 500s last week and the most I drove them with was my hot radio lol....i tell people if you want to see them doing a kw go back and look at the older videos I did.

Don't be worried about 40w....40 is fine...me personally I hot mine 500v...ON HIGH OF COURSE... with about 20 to 40w Pep.... If it was a 667 then 20w peak on medium(green button in)

UPDATE: My DX-500 has the DEI transistors and I did the full power wire upgrade. I've been hitting it with 40 to 50 pep and get a good solid 600 pep out of it. It will go higher, but probably not for long.

How much of that 1000 watts is on the actual acupied frequency... I meen serious ... You gotta show output on a spectrum anylyzer and scope ... Because most often the output is not what ppl think... Half of the power is usually all over spectrum spectrum instead of we're it should be.... Just saying .... Not hating in anyway ..but facts are facts man.... Gotta see were your output growth is in frequency to actually see if the amp is doing it's job.....

To a guy like me.. that is common sense but come on man...in all reality...this hobby being what it is.... the majority just loved to see that the amp can make the power no matter where it is landing...that is what that video is about... a dyno test not a where the dart lands test lol...that is for another video when I finally get that type of equipment

was the driver box on the unreg supply too? and if your on Facebook look me up and we will chat. I'd like to have my dx500 made like that one. to heck with power settings. it would be nice to work ssb at full power on my dx500. pushing it with my galaxy plus duel final radio. and can you align and tune it. maybe even a scjottky diode receive kit put in it. so look me up on Facebook and we can discus how much you need to "get r done".

would it be at all possible to get a contact number or email from you or if you would like to get mine so i can ask you a question. i'm thinking on a transistor swap out. i saw from bbi. you might like to attempt a build and you might like the results. because i want an 8 pill a class made of them. they take up to 28 volts and high drive i can feed it with my ft857d that's on the way here. it can withstand a 40 to 1 swr max. where a 2879 will only take up-to 30 to 1. ok latter on gate.

one more coment , it is not advised to run high power if you do not the license for the equipment , This equipment is ilegal to make or sell in the US , Also the kit does not have any harmonic filters atached to the out put . The lat guy cought using one of these was finned $10.000 dollars with a prison sentance hanging over his head after causing signal interfirance to atlantic air trafic control on the 21mhz air coms band . hes was using an Am cb transiver . ON 27MHZ . WITHIN THE US. he was caught and fined and made to pay the bill . his house was raided and the police put the guy in a cell and nearly lost the key, Well when moding gear its good practice to have the right test gear and mod or operate to within you license /... this why protecting radio frequencies' so important and not jaming AIR OR EMERGANCY SERVICES , THIS GUY HASN'T LOOKED AT HARMONICS OR PARACITC SIGNALS . . IT WOULD NOT TAKE LONG BEFORE FCC WAS CALLING COLLECTING ANF FIN LOL . .. I HAVE A FULL TICKET ?
