Brian Williams is actually incredibly talented. He appears on these shows and consistently upstages the hosts at their own jobs, even Jon Stewart. It's just plain weird for me to think of him as a newsman since I rarely ever watch him doing the news.

I saw him on the Jon Stewart show back when we were still dealing with the fallout from Katrina. He was telling stories about what was going on in the news community and it was hilarious even though it was dead serious at the same time. Dude has a gift.

This is perfect, a serious respectable journalist who isn't afraid to have fun and be silly, and it's a perfect way to show the younger generation that you can watch the news with people who are classy, not just anchors shouting at people and blaming everyone for whatever mistakes. Brian Williams needs like a shared grammy with Jimmy for these. Edit years later: yeah times have changed for him now.

March 2022, UK here. I have been living under a rock and didn't know who Brian Williams is, until a random radio link on The Chris Moyles Show mentioned his name. This is the first video I clicked, and within 2 minutes, I found someone who Jimmy Fallon DOESN'T interrupt! This Williams guy is awesome! Quick witted, smart, commands the screen, so so funny! I found my KZfaq rabbit-hole for the day!

You serious? Oh..ok, let me explain. Think of a comedy team. Like Abbott & Costello,if you don't know who they are, Google them. Bud Abbott was the Straight man, the one trying to have a conversation and he did the set up for Costello as he delivered the funny. Fallon is the comedian here, Williams is the NBC Nightly News guy. To be fair, Fallon is playing off Williams nicely, but BiWi is playing it straight as he delivers the funny. Don't take everything so literally.

it's interesting to watch because Brian Williams has undoubtedly got intelligence and talent and verbal skills that are unbelievable for him to be who he is i.e. one of the top news anchors in the entire world (probably #1). And so it is interesting to me to see him using those skills and talents to give it right back to Jimmy. :)
