This series gets incredibly good, and much darker. Worth reading for sure. Also don’t miss This Tender Land!

I’m sure you’ve read up on it by now but the tribe that Cork descends from very much exists. The Anishinaabe is a prominent tribe in the Northern US and Canada. They are also sometimes referred to as Ojibwe. They used to be also called Chippewa, but that was a French bastardization of their name that is no longer used and might be considered offensive by some. It’s a great series! I’ve jumped all around, and I’ve yet to read Iron Lake. However, it’s almost like a source of comfort continuing to read about these same characters. I read This Tender Land, which i absolutely loved. That brought me to the series.

The second book in this series "Boundary Waters" starts out with a pretty grim scene of torture and murder. It really sets the stage for the rest of the book. I believe you will like it just as well if not more than "Iron Lake."

Wow, that was fast. I'm currently burning through Stephen J. Cannell's The Tin Collectors (Shane Scully #1). You could probably read it in a day. Stephen J. Cannell created The A-Team.

Holy crap Brian I don't know why it took me 5 months to finally pick this up and I'm kicking myself for waiting this long! Another long series I'm going to have to get ALL the books for! Which works out as I'm down to my last Joe Pickett book!

I read Iron Lake first of the Cork O'Connor series. I'm now at the point where I have to wait for Wm Kent Krueger to write a new book about Cork. I've read all his books, working on The River We Remember now. Someone told me that if I like his writing, I'd like C.J. Box. They're definitely of the same flavor, although Cork lives in Northern Minnesota and Joe Pickett in Wyoming. Now Julia Keller's Belfa Elkins is another similar series, but in West Virginia. If you like mysteries that have excellent descriptions of nature and in depth descriptions of people, you will love these.

You are correct. Anishinaabe refers to the language group that Ojibwe, a Minnesotan native language, belongs to.

Iron Lake was wonderful. Ordinary Grace was a incredible work and I think you’ll like, This Tender Land which is outstanding. Truly one of the best books I read last year. That and, The Round House by, Louise Erdrich! I love Krueger. His work is consistent and regularly fantastic. Keep up the great work, Brian. Fan of what you are writing and doing here.
