Ross Perot was an Annapolis graduate.....served as an officer in the United States Navy till 1962. Worked for IBM, started 2 Tech companies, both billion dollar companies. Even financed one of Steve Jobs ventures. I dare say he was one of the most intellegent men ever to run, we would have been well served with him as POTUS. Don't let his Texarkana drawl fool you. He was and still is a true patriot.

"If the people send me to Washington, the first thing I'll do is study that agreement...." You're debating it, right now; you've held a very vocal very public position that it is a bad agreement and yet you're going to wait till your elected to 'study' it'? THAT kind of empty carnival barker showmanship is why they tend to exclude marginal candidates. We saw the same thing with Trump be he was so deliberately bellicose that the 'good' people of the U.S. couldn't resist his appeal. The fact is though, that he didn't KNOW anything about anything. Like Perot, he had a lot of well-developed opinions based on opinions, but not much more. That's where the similarity ends. Perot was sharp, incisive and probably a very capable businessman. I believe he was also ethical and held a moral compass of some kind (if dominated by narrow business perspective), while Trump had and has no ethical or moral grounding at all.

The question is why? Because he is on the payroll of the same lobbyists as the rest of the corrupt politicians.

Phillip. The real "people" in power, if you care to call them people essentially made him bow out of the campaign. They knew what he would have accomplished and it would have been devastation for their agenda. Anyways, to make a long story short, if he had continued to run for president, not so pleasant things would've occurred during his daughter's upcoming wedding. I think there may have been some other issues as well but he was not willing to risk his own life and family to become president. If you have time, maybe look more into depth as to his reasons for pulling out of the race. But I will tell you, he was one smart man who had America in his heart

@johncrafton8319
@johncrafton8319 5 жыл бұрын
The President is just one man. If he's not affiliated with a party, then those party hacks in Congress, the administrators in his own departments (previously appointed by his predecessors), the justices (previously appointed by his predecessors) and the media (paid by the party hacks) will make it impossible for him to do anything he promises to do. This is why the independent Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders campaigns both decided to align themselves with a major political party. Before then, Trump had changed affiliation 11 times as an adult (and even ran as a Reform candidate) while Sanders was a member of the Socialist party and then was an independent. It's also why Rand Paul is a Republican, rather than a Libertarian. Without party affiliation, you have no power to do what you promise to do.

+stockjonebills I don't think that's true. I think either you're too young to remember 1992 or you just forgot what the race looked like in the summer. Ross was leading in the national polls in July. He is also the last Presidential candidate to be leading in both Texas and California that late in the cycle. He lost because he stopped campaigning in late July then started up again in October. I was only 9 years old during this election, but I remember rooting for him the whole way. I doubt I understood anything about the policies being discussed, but I just knew I liked him and that he was a good and honest man. To answer your question, the media, which is the 3rd wing of the political establishment, convinced people that Perot couldn't win, thus they voted for 1 of the other 2 candidates. Exit polling revealed that an additional 19% of the electorate would have voted for Perot had they believed he could actually win. This would have given Perot 37%, which would have given him more than a 50% chance of winning in a 3 way race. I recall the amount of ridicule Perot took in the media. Why was he ridiculed? 1) he was short. 2) He had an accent that people associate with ignorance. 3) anything he said was then filtered through those 2 perceptions and thus had zero credibilty. That "sucking sound" comment was fodder for years. And yet..... Its up to you to understand what is a social perception versus what is a real qualifications. You will need it for dating/marriage. You wil need it for work in assessing who you will work for and who you will not. You will need it as a human being. Smiles and quips are cheap. Yet people take them like their gold. He was ahead in nearly every poll until the press started in on his family and telling the public he couldn’t win in the electoral college. The difference between Perot and Trump (other than Perot being a stand up person) was that when the press started in on him, he decided he didn’t need to take it and pulled out of the race, only to come back in late, whereas Trump fought back. To this day, I truly believe if Perot has won, the country would be in a better place, politics would not be such a pit of despair, and the press would be held to a higher standard than the low bar useless pimps that they have become.

If only the people would have voted for Mr Perot. I couldn't vote back then. I was still just a kid. I didn't know the things I know about the world that i know now. Man how things could have been a little different. I truly believe that Mr Perot knew about the globalist agenda and was against it.

To be fair, it’s focusing on a single issue and then building a narrative that Perot would have been a great president around that alone. I mean conversely he may have started a nuclear war and we could be saying how much better things could have been had Clinton been president. Hindsight and all that

So did I. After the rapist won, my dad blamed me for it. Because I didn't vote for Bush Sr. My dad said that if I had only voted for Bush Sr. then he would have won and not the rapist. Perot split the conservative vote. (But back then we didn't know Slick Willie was a rapist)

Chaz Nonya. He may have been right on a number of issues, but he definitely did not get “railroaded out of the race.” He made idiotic comments about being afraid that Bush was going to sabotage his daughter’s wedding. By doing that he came off as a nut job talking crazy at just the peak of his popularity, and he quit. Then later he jumped back in. But he had killed his own chances. If he hadn’t acted like an idiot during that one two-day period when he went off his rocker he might have won. But he blew it himself.

David Isaacson. With some of the hidden facts and details we now know about elections being stolen, I'm not so sure that Ross Perot didn't win! Think how much better off all America would be right now had Perot had 8yrs.in the driver's seat instead of the betraying trash that sat in his place. Perot would likely be listed along with Trump and Reagan as the only great modern day Presidents we've had since they shot JFK down.

I remember him, and for a while there he was actually leading in the polls. But for some mysterious reason he dropped out of the race. He then decided to re-enter the presidential race with weeks to go before the election, and despite the fact that he had lost most of the momentum and credibility he had worked so hard to build, he still managed to gain 19% of the popular vote!! Just imagine what might have happened if he had not dropped out of the race. To this day I wonder what occurred that forced that decision. I’m sure there are many interesting conspiracy theories out there.

I hear they threatened his daughter right before her wedding and well if that's the truth then I must say it would have been nice to have Ross Perot as President. I don't say that because of his daughter being threatened but the fact he was spot on about NAFTA. I was too young to remember him and couldn't vote but I look at now as an adult the devastation that NAFTA and other things have done to this country. Thank God Trump squashed it and is giving us something so much better! Let's not look back and think of Ross Perot folks, let's look forward to now and be thankful and continue to pray for our great President Trump whom God gave us!
