I love this game, It has been replayed so often that it has a permanent home on my SD and PC

Pro Tip: When looting containers and corpses with multiple items, you can just tap R to open their inventory then R again to take all. Two keystrokes, super fast. Much easier than mouse clicking all 8 things off a raider or some such. Bonus pro tip: You can do it when there's any number of things, even 1, but it's slower than a single mouse click - BUT, it's a safe way to loot items in water. Often, if you click E on a floating corpse or underwater chest, you drink the irradiated water instead of getting the item, but the R key never makes you drink the water.

Don't forget, becoming a Raider and leading a band of raiders that attack settlements (instead of you helping and/or rebuilding them) is an option.

Just got it off Steam on a sale, due to watching your play through, and am enjoying it. It's addicting. I keep getting sliced and blasted to shreds even with being sneaky or molotovs, and mr Handy shooting fire, at the Lexington Super deal mart on the way to the assembly plant.

When choosing stats, the most important thing is what perks you're going to want. For example, a melee build doesn't need Perception for VATS accuracy, and probably doesn't need to go past 4 (if you want Lockpicking) or 1 (if you don't). Most builds won't need any Charisma, unless you're doing a lot of settlement building, which makes Local Leader really useful (6 CHA). You can put on CHA clothing for social interactions and it's really easy to get +5 (+1 hat, +2 clothing, +1 glasses, +1 beer), meaning that at 6 CHA + 5, you can pass any speech check and get best prices with the addition of a Grape Mentats. For a melee build, I'd want up to Rooted in STR and up to Blitz in AGI. Endurance is generally garbo, especially early on, because the effects of increased END are retroactive. You can take the Lifegiver perk to get +20 HP, but you need to be at least level 30 to get the same amount or more from raw END. So, you get the most bang for your buck by starting low END and then raising it post level 30 or so. Plus, there's nothing in the whole tree that's that worth it. You don't need INT for almost anything (4 for Hacker maybe). And, because a build based in Blitz + Rooted is going to rely more on coming in with a few big hits (rather than many smaller ones), you can dump Luck. TLDR: I'd go with something like S9 P4 E3 C1 I1 A9 L1 But no slight on your choices. Looking forward to seeing how your run goes as I'm doing my own thing and listening in. I'm doing a Power Armor and Settlement building playthrough right now. My SPECIAL is S3 P4 E1 C6 (You're Special book) I9 A5 L1. I'm using shotguns for close-range VATS and scoped rifles for long-range sniping. And I always carry a trusty melee weapon for bug bashing :)

2:52:23 "I think turrets need power, don't they?" Not the basic machinegun turrets, but the better ones with lasers and missiles do. For ALL things you can build, if it uses power, it will say so - it will even say how much. Just click it like you want to try to build it and it shows all resources it needs (power, a human, whatever) and it shows you what resources it makes (defense, food, power) and it shows a number for each so you know exactly how much.

2:19:00 "So a lot of you go around and scrap everything in Sanctuary?" Yep! In fact, I don't use many mods but one I like is "Scrap Everything" which does what it says, lets me scrap almost anything within radius of the workbench. So many things in Sanctuary and other places that are right in the way and you can't get rid of them - the mod takes care of that. Have to be careful with it. For example, it can scrap the street, but the ground under it is weird looking and hard to walk on so I make sure to not scrap parts of the game environment like the ground. By the end of the game, I have concrete condos housing over 25 settlers in Sanctuary, with food, water, and places for them to work including multiple vendors for armor, weapons, clothing, food, general trader, and a doctor. I usually build a palace for me, a hangar for my 40 powered armor suits all lined up in neat rows on 40 armor stands, a hall of trophies displaying my favorite armor, guns, magazines, bobbleheads, etc., a factory to make ammo, and other fun stuff. Not to mention a dozen sentry robots roaming around keeping the rifraff from storming the gates.

1:58:20 "Do workshops share inventory?" Mostly no. You can get a perk if your charisma is high enough that lets you use a settler to create supply lines from one workshop to another. Get a supply line for each workshop. They count toward population limits and they need food and water and beds, so I always just make one at each new settlement and make one supply line to the nearest one I already have, so that way no settlement needs to support the burden of more than one supply line. Note that even if you do this, you're only sharing junk inventory, not weapons or armor or ammo. So I would just get used to Fast Travel and keep the good stuff at Sanctuary forever. Or, later when you have more options, maybe move your good stuff to a more central location - it only takes one or two fast travels to move your favorite stuff.

You should have left about 100 of that in the Sanctuary workbench. By the time you left Red Rocket, you had about 180 out of 270 and could have easily left 130 weight at Red Rocket's workbench. Your looting is fine. Your leaving it in workbenches needs, uh, work... Also, don't forget Dogmeat can carry some stuff! 1:35:50 "I hope I find a merchant soon cuz I'm wicket encumbered." Nope. Loooon way from that. Just let Dogmeat carry some and leave it all in Sanctuary.

In the first hour, you walked through Sanctuary houses with your face pointed at the ground and didn't look up. You missed loot in bathroom mirrors, medkits on the wall at face level, another one on a window sill, etc. There is plenty of loot that isn't on the ground. Gotta look up!

For the Cryolator take Dogmeat with you he can retrieve it as your lockpicking early game blows 😊😂😂😂😂

They spent most of the dev time of Starfield developing tech. I think The Elder Scrolls VI will take advantage of what they have updated in terms of systems and developemt tools. They are going to concentrate much more on really making the game, making the systems of the game. And Fallout 5 will be so great like this one (the state of art of its time).

You should seriously consider playing through the new Sim Settlements mod. It has an entirely new story arc. Also, there are some DLC sized mods available as well like the mod for the Enclave story arc.

Been getting into playing older games again

Nice to see you playing this. I will follow your playthrough. The early game of this is well balanced I think and the simple makeshift weapons are fun during that time. I find it difficult to get into this game mainly due to the mandatory settlement management. I do not really want to play town management I want to go out and explore. So if anyone has any recommendations to make settlements easier to handle I would appreciate it.

1:10:25"We got a pipe pistol plus." No. You got a pipe pistol. The "plus" was because the game thinks it is better than your currently equipped weapon. Both your favorite pistol and baton do more damage, but the game favors guns over melee because what kind of savage would bring a metal stick to a gunfight?

A remake of New Vegas would be the best Fallout, just add some more modern stuff but that story is the best by far.

I have no idea why, and if I'm honest it freaked me out, whenever I played Fallout 4 I would get a terrible headache.

Should try this like SoD make separate communities to side with different factions so you get a look at all endings. But got to say preferred New Vegas, but that's me 😊❤

VATS always has a percentage to hit. It's calculated based on your Perception, distance to target, "range" stat of your weapon, and other factors like their armor or obstructions (trees, walls, etc.) between you. It can be 0% if you're too far or they are obstructed. It never goes above 95% so there is always a chance to miss, like rolling a natural 1 in D&D, I've spent many hours tracking VATS percentages and whether or not I hit to see if it's fair or cheating. My data suggested it's very fair. If it says I have a 40% chance and I fire 10 times, about 4 will hit, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less, but always pretty close to 4 and the over/under is about even too. But yeah, it's frustrating you see a 70% chance and fire 3 shots that all miss. A bit later, you'll fire at 3 mole rats with a 40% chance and hit all 3. It balances out. Right now you're a very low-level character, just starting out. Don't feel bad if EVERYTHING you do is limited, including having low VATS chances. It gets better as you level up. Room to grow. if you want a VATs build, raise luck and perception, USE CRITICALS (they always hit 100% and for extra damage), invest points into banking criticals and refilling AP on criticals, as well as extra critical damage - it all works with melee builds too.

2:53:47 "I think you have to arm your allies." Nope. They all have guns. Except Dogmeat and Mama Murphy. Regular "Settlers" and named settlers like Sturgess start with some crappy gun, usually a pipe pistol. You can replace that with a better gun so they can help defend better, but that doesn't count toward your settlement "Defense" stat. It DOES help quite a bit during battles though. Extra fun, give them a Fat Man and watch them nuke your settlement trying to defend it! For named companions (Preston, Piper, Nick, etc.) they all have a "hidden" gun - you can see them carry it and fire it, but it is not in their inventory and you cannot take it. It has endless ammo too. Yay for cheating companions. That's not to say their guns are great, but they fit the companion (Nick has an old .38 revolver, Preston has a laser rifle, etc.) You can give them better guns and they'll use them. IMPORTANT: For all kinds of allies and companions, make sure to give them a tiny bit of ammo that matches whatever gun you give them.. They MUST have at least one round to fire their weapon and I don't know if they have reload times so usually give them a full reload. BUT - their ammo is infinite so they won't consume it when they shoot, so give them the minimum because they don't need more than that.
