Buying Land & Mowing Our New 3 Acre Property! (Dream Come True!)

Күн бұрынToday we're off to the races to mow the lawn of our brand new property which is 3 acres of rolling field and vacant land. We're so excited to have this dream property, I cannot believe it's finally here!
So many of you guys know that Liz and I have been working our tails off to be able to afford a beautiful piece of land like this to one day build our dream home. Well today's the big day where I get to make progress towards that goal and mow our own property since we closed on it this past Wednesday!

So cool to let the boy take a spin on your zero turn mower on your new 3 acre property! He will remember that forever. And it was neat to see through your awesome stripes with the drone view of your property the curvy, zig zag lines the kid made with the mower "engraved" in that video for all time and he can always say, "see those wiggly lines, I did that, Brian the KZfaq mowing guy let me ride his mower." Wow, what an impact you made on him and us for sharing the cool moment. And so great to hear you say "God is on the throne." Amen! God blesses and blesses. I think you just did a great thing should I help and that young man fulfill one of his dreams. Great job. I Was 38 when I bought my property 12 years ago.One of the 1st things i did we ordered pizza didn't even have the furniture in the house yet & ate sitting on the living Room floor and I screamed at the top of my lungs. My family looked at me like I was crazy and said what's wrong? I said nothing was wrong the reason I did that is because there is nobody to tell me that I couldn't! I didn't have to worry about other people complaining that I'm too loud it was a great feeling and still is I wish you and your wife the best under new property. May you always have a roof over your head ,food on the table, & sincere love in your heart.

Thanks a lot Brian! that was pretty kool letting the kid ride your tractor! I would love to purchase 3.5 acre home in Georgia lovely gardens inground pool just a beautiful peace of property. Brian you need a Roller to smooth out your lawn. I would recommend a steel 60 to 72 inch roller that you can fill with water. This way you can adjust its weight for the condition of the ground or its dryness. Wetter soil smooths out easier but is easier to sink into. You can even use your 4 wheeler to pull it depending on it weight. Usually I pulled them with a Garden tractor or a Sub Compact Tractor with all wheel drive.

Diggin your place!! Nothing like having a few acres to lay down you and your wife's landscaping dreams!! You have to put in a waterfall and pond! I was able to get my wife to agree on me getting 3 waterfall pumps, 1, 6800 gallon per hour pump for the main attraction, 1, 3200 for a smaller waterfall that runs into a small brook type creek and the 3rd 3200 GPH pump for a another small waterfall. Nothing like sitting out on the back deck hearing the sounds of a waterfall while hanging out with friends having some fun, food and fellowship!! We started out with a little over 2 acres of pasture with blackberries and wild rose then my wife said why don't you look at buying a tractor! (What did I just hear??? that blew my 🤯 ) We created our little oasis. Loved seeing Bronson's smile ear to ear! You could see he was digging life, driving your mower around. I can hear Bronson now: Mom Im heading over to big B's to hang out and work around his place.

Bro i swear I'll be tearing down while mowing of so much excitement on a 3 acre. I don't have to deal HOA restrictions and specially having some bad neighbors. I just want to live the most peacefully life. Wake up early the morning see how the sun hits the grass and shines on a healthy grass. Then hop on my four-wheeler and head to the shop, get the business ready and head out to mow yards. At the end come home happy and see your family at the doorway waiting on you. You just feel a dream has come true and always gotta shine it. One day it will come. Also, I am glad you are motivating a kid to bring his dream come true. 🙂👍 I am currently on the step for the first time I bought a new working truck for my business. I always bought used trucks and fix it. Until one day the truck I enjoy driving it she just say I am done hauling for 4 years. Is drivable but unreliable at hauling. Now, this new truck gotta use it to open more ideas to reach the goal that I am looking for. Keep grinding 💪 Brian, make it happen.

I've got 4 acres takes 4 to 6 hours depending on how much rain we get use a 60 in Toro takes longer in the back to mow around 150 blueberry trees

I would try to find a local grain farmer with a land roller and see if you could hire them to roll the area. Farming land rollers range from 8’ to 45’ wide and some are wider. That would be a lot easier than using a little 48” or 60” lawn roller. Would leave beautiful stripes too.

@cooper meshew, would that be better than discing the land to help smooth it out? I’m moving into a 5 acre property and having it disc’d has been recommended to me in the past.

@@PanchoPringles I would try what I previously mentioned before discing the yard. It would save a lot of work, as long as you could get a 15'-30' roller around the property easily. It would smooth out the bumps, but it wouldn't get big divots or holes smooth. Those would require reworking that area. This is just my 2 cents. I live in an area where there's a lot of agricultural activity. So there's farms within 2 miles of my house. It would be a lot easier to get a farmer to bring a roller in than living in the middle of a city. Just my thoughts.

Borrow a ventrac with the airiator/ seeder head so not only will it help with standing water drainage but also you could run a weeder etc at the same time to get the turf in top condition

Brian and Liz, that's so awesome. I'm so happy for you!!! I do have to admit, Brian, that when you said that it took 3 hours to cut it the first time, because you double cut it... I nearly cried because it takes me 1.5hrs to cut my 10,700sf!!! LOL. One of these days, I'll have to steal, well "borrow", my neighbor's TimeCutter 42 and try it out on my slopes. Thanks for helping out, BTW, with growing his business.

Congrats to you and the mrs on the land! I own 3 acres and put a house on it and nothing beats having a good size lot! The bumps of a field flatten out a bit the more its mowed....and rolled! Best of luck on throwing a house up!

Props for giving Bronson a chance on the mower. Some suggestions for future first timers, it might not be a bad idea to have them wear a seat belt and to put the ROPS up. I've also had great success with the few first timers I've had on my Super Z Hyperdrive with telling them to move both hands together forward and back to control speed, but to turn, pull back on the hand on the same side as in the direction you wish to turn. That makes it a bit intuitive as there is some similarity with riding a bicycle. Using that concept, my daughter was able to go straight or wherever she wanted in literally under a minute. Put me to shame as when I first learned (although without this concept) it took 15 to 20 minutes before my lines didn't look like I was drunk.

Hey Brian, super excited for you guys. We did the same thing and moved into our new home just under a year ago. It can be stressful. I suggest visiting the site as often as you can to check to make sure it’s getting done properly. And read the contract about a thousand times. Devil’s in the details.

United rental 23/vandyke has a 3,000 lb roller. Worked well on some bad lawns. Didn’t harm or compact roots but I aerated after anyways to help with any over compaction.
