Sometimes I forget that we are skilled workers. The finished product starts with the setting out and a lot of people would struggle with that. 👍

Hi Justin Bloody good idea that , we always cut a 8 x 4 board to first coarse and plumbed up , but used it as a profile , Much better idea of yours , I think we will borrow that 🤪🤪🤪 top man , and well done , I like your setting out as well , a bit of thought and consideration went into that mate , all the best 🙏👍
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping3 жыл бұрын
Hi John Yes ive used yout idea before its a good template and a good idea just need plumb up as normal i find. The trammel as long as its set up olumb both sides and your first course is right its a template and plumb bob all in one .I would recommend you still check plumb as you go but just to check it . Also it works external and internal radius all in one . I love it . Good luck let me no how it works for you if you need anything let me no mate Justin 👍

I used to borrow my father's set of Trammel Points . They were an engineers set , I don't know whatever happend to them . A must for every brickie who does arches/radius work . ☺
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping3 жыл бұрын
Hi John Definitely a good thing to have in your tool set.I think you can still buy them in certain places but becoming a thing of the past now unfortunately. Be safe mate Justin 👍
@johnbowkett59203 жыл бұрын
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping You can still get them online , and from good old fashioned tool shops . Moore and Wright used to make several sizes , and were very good quality . Another tool a brickie should have is a large pair of engineers dividers . Great for gauging out on archwork . ☺

@@johnbowkett5920 Absolutely John and i love all the old school intricate bricklaying. Unfortunately nowadays in my experience people cant see passed stretcher bond .I just dont get asked for any of it.The only reason i did Flemish bond on my current project was because i did it at no extra cost and i wanted to do it thought the job would benefit from it . I actually loved doing it and i want more now just weather i can sell it. Anyway love traditional bricklaying and highly respect the old timers Stay safe Justin 👍
@johnbowkett59203 жыл бұрын
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping Yes ... I live the challenge . Arches , bullseyes and the satisfying Flemmish bond . Trammels , Dividers and an Engineers square should always be in the van ... not in your bucket , because they will rust , as you rarely use them . I have threw 2 sets of Blakes profiles away over 30 years ago , I refuse to use them . I'm old school . Keep warm , summer will soon be here . ☺☺☺☺☺

Brilliant work mate! This is that job you made a video on few weeks ago showing the finished product? I've never actually done a radius wall, but after seeing your setup I reckon its pretty easy once you start right 👌👌 What are those marigolds like in the winter mate? Need a few lads wearing them now👌

Thanks Izzy Ive just used a level in the past ive built a lot of radius walls two plumbing points per brick and level across the top is good but that trammel takes it to another level its a crisp curve with that. Thanks izzy mate 👍
@dosul39603 жыл бұрын
Is that 16mm iron pin for your trammel like the ones the steel fixers use or a smooth pin? I can imagine a 16mm hole would be a bit tight especially on a "Rough Iron Pin"
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping3 жыл бұрын
Hi yes its 16mm rebar not smooth . Thanks 👍
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping3 жыл бұрын
The setting out i bisected the two lines to get a center point .As long as the lines are at a right angle and a perfect right angle your way will work to get the center point 👍

Thats some level pall I used use a fether edge and try to balance a level on top off it clang level fell off every time lol.

i would have brought it round in headers if it was my job. looks much better.
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping3 жыл бұрын
Disagree sorry looks much better in the same bond and not breaking it wirh headers. If you get the 50 pence effect then yes agree headers all day long but the radius is true and runs nice ai for me stretchers all day . Respect your opinion though and thanks for the comment Justin 👍
