Seeing all of that pipe scaffolding brought back nightmares! As a commercial Carpenter,I worked scaffolding for a while on power plants in Texas,USA and it was almost all hanging from walkways 50-150 ft. in the air in the 100+ degree heat and blowing wind. I have watched You and Alex for a while and have summoned th courage to brick up around the culvert pipe in my driveway. Great work!

Well you are a real credit to Wain Homes. Top Masonary work. Also liked the trimming with the Milwaukee. (Roof framers area) Did I notice at 5:12 a diagonal brace cut off to short ? (Sorry I'm a roof framing Nerd). Like for corbelled out box ends if I can describe them like that. Do WainHomes specify some straps across the vertical brake where the two colours of brick join? Look forward to the next one.
@SteveAndAlexBuild
@SteveAndAlexBuild 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers John , If any braces are short they get replaced and the corbels have ties at the straight joint . As for the builder I’m guessing Al has his Wain homes vest on . This tin pot firm aren’t even in the same league as Wain homes . Very poor and we won’t work for them again 🧱👍🏽

Great work chaps 👍 I get so jealous watching your videos! I actually did bricklaying at college for 3 years but sadly it was round the time of the last financial crisis and there were little in the way of apprenticeships at the time… also round that time my dad past away so unfortunately I had to find different work (as a baker) to put food on the table for my family. I know my dad would’ve loved to have done construction father and son style like you guys. It’s a joy to watch what you do 🥲 never take it for granted (even through the minor arguments 😂👌)

That blockwork construction is so different from what we do in Canada. That would most likely be just a straight up poured in place concrete wall. It is a lot simpler and quicker to build, but... Insolation between units for soundproofing is rather unusual despite the fact that nobody likes to hear their neighbour. Then again, those houses you are building? They look like they could last a century. Houses being built in Canada right now? They are disposable, just like the rest of our society.

Jist noticed this video by accident mate. But good to see fellow brickies at work, good video. A bit different up in Scotland its mostly kits im building. Where did you get yer belt? that looks handy. Im forever putting ma hammer, tape or pocket bead and trowel down and cant find thum 😂. The tingle plate clamps look superb tae i jist seen another guy on here use them tae need to get them... plus the saw you used for trimming the joists looks handy can never get in with a saw when the fire stops are going through the cavity....Keep up the good work guys 👌

Thanks pal . We got all the belt stuff at our big local merchants Berrys but they are all available on line , the belt and hammer hook are made by Plano . The clamps are Fitzbrick clamps and are superb . And the little power tool is a Milwaukee multi tool 12 v . Glad you found our channel, we’ve got nearly 200 videos up there now 👌🏼🧱👍🏼

No Justin just me and Al 😆. This was the last house for these clowns 🤡 . No more site work , that was the worst year of my 35 year career , treated like shite mate . Their customer service dept rang me on Tuesday and asked me and Al to put a price in for going round putting all the awful brickwork right . That’s what happens when all you care about is speed , it bites you in the arse at final inspection time . A very harsh experience and lesson leaned my friend , stay off site 🥺👍🏼🧱

@@SteveAndAlexBuild You no im on your waive length as far as all that is concerned. I always cared about the appearance and precision of my work i just couldn't slam it in and earn big my work was better no come backs to my work and i earned less i left because of all the cut throats on site .Anyway mate you no the score all to well you price for what they ask they would take the mic somewhere. So really they are asking one of the best bricklayers on site to basically day work all the other gangs shit. You and alex are miles better than that youd be there dog because u agreed a price .I dont see anything other than a massive piss take there's a bigger picture they obviously still dont understand. Boils my blood mate always shaft the decent ones and wonder why the brickwork on site suffers. @@SteveAndAlexBuild If they like your work and attitude to work they should make you the head gang on site give you the cream look after the good guys .Explain the standards on that site by showing your work as abviously they like it .They need to set a standard not get a good bricklayer to day work otber people shit work. It all just about sums up site work no real respect for our skilled trade .Trouble is then to route out all the shit and up the standard they have to pay more and organise things a lot better.
