Love these videos lads it shows how hard it is to be a jobbing builder anyone can dig in the middle of a field. I have been digging with mini digger for 20 years and best advice to help you is. 1. Dig with a smaller bucket I use 450 you get more power and maneuverability. 2. Layer your dig starting at the top not digging from the bottom its less pull on the arm and helps not to hit services. 3. Use the arm swing to left and right usually located under your right foot this means you don't have to be square to the footing. Hope this helps happy digging.

This was interesting, thanks for sharing! Drains and builders - I bought a house from a builder and everything was fine for 4 years. I'm really enjoying these videos, because there is so much to be aware of and learn. The way you get around the 'pit falls' that, like a traffic jam, seem to appear from nowhere. Oh, and by the way, Steve, you handled that digger so well and I think you were far too hard on yourself with your comments. Alex did a fantastic job with his driving skills too. Eagerly, I await the follow up video. Have a good weekend, both.

Luke on the death star, I thought exactly the same a moment before you mentioned it, the trench flight was and still is the most memorable film scene in the cinema. And you got that van well packed out with the insulation, when you tapped the door handle at the rear I expected the doors popping open violently. Good luck with the digger, the dozer blade was what just prevented it from tipping on its side.

The dozer blade is really a backfill blade. If the digger was oriented so that blade was in the rear it could have been used to lift and stabilize the machine when the bank caved. Could have narrowed the tracks and driven out, no help needed.

Never easy digging out is it .back in the day we used to dig em all by hand .couple of things i always did was trench fill the foundations as high as i could with concrete less brickwork in footings. Dig the floor out first before foundations while the digger is there could bring round the mot 1 for the floor with the machines. There is a foot peddle on the digger to operate the digger arm left and right.could of dug all that footing out put it on the floor planked and double boarded the hole borrow muck out and drive digger over boards.Dpc is an odd one door threshold two courses higher than damp .Anyway no criticism at all just trying to help in some way .great energy and graft as ever and brilliant to see you having a go of the digger and track barrow. You lads can do it and the more you do it the more confident you will get .just gotta work smart with the machines make the most out of them as they aint cheap. Here on day 3 its the same price for a weeks hire so we usually go for the week aint much difference. Can bring mot ,sand and any back fill round ready so no manual digging. Its cheaper in the long round quicker and easier on the back just got to be smart and use the full week as much as you can .Also we always give the client a heads up that they may need a contingency in the budget whilst in the ground .you never no if you need to dig deaper and then more concrete etc .can cost thousands more so better that its not a shock and you explain all this before a shovel breaks ground.
