I am lazy sometimes and i like the idea that things look amazing right out of the box. So my choice was clearly with breakdance. Also for simple websites i would never have to worry about any plugins that crash the side. So far so good. I am no web dev.. yet.. I just love building websites somehow. And i like to build some for friends and stuff. And i purchased Breakdance and started to play around with it. Then i simply wanted to experiment a little bit with :hover, transform and transition since the possibilitys are limited and i do indeed know html and css and the builder really drove me crazy on so many things. First it didnt let me change many predefined things. I dont know why exactly but i couldnt override many things. Then the worst part.. Always when i created a new class and changed stuff somehow after a lot of frustration it just deleted my class by itself and said its no more there. This might have a good reason, i dunno. But man i went crazy. So after all when i wanted to change things i needed to dig into the dev tools to check what classes i had to change and i just found it super super annoying. I see it the following. I am a lazy ass stupid dude. Though i am someone who loves to have full control. And i noticed that i know enough html and css (maybe js too in the future) that i could do most visual stuff by myself. I am just too lazy. So what i did i gave bricks a try. Why didnt i before? Because i am lazy and i do indeed know you have to adjust alot to make it look good and that consumes time. Nevertheless. I went to the trybricks platform and did the same thing as i did in bricks. Played aroud with :hover and so on. I created a class. And damn i could do what eeeever i wanted It was like visual studio as a page builder 😆. Well better of course but you get the point. I did nothing crazy but it was so much fun to be able to fully use my little but useful knowledge. I am by far no developer. But i feel that breakdance is more for people who never or almost never want to touch code. And for me thats where the fun gets lost. Because i love code. It has something fascinating. It can be super frustrating too. Especially if you just code in vscode for example. But to get something to work feels so good. This "serotonine-flow" you know what i mean? I BD you just use what the developer did for you. Its so.. meh.. Anyone can do that. I know i will get very frustrated in bricks too. I know it. But the thing is I 1. will have full control 2. I will increase my coding skills which i probably wouldnt in BD. Now my motivation is to use bricks and in between keep learning code also. I dont make any money i dont have any customers. Its just a hobby and i can make some people happy with this for now. I really really hope that custom code wont break with updates. Thats a little bit what i fear. In BD there is the possibility already which keeps beeing part of the whole product and i probably wouldnt have to fear any code problems. But hey thats what a developer does. Solving problems, right? I think i betray myself if i keep beeing lazy and abuse the easiness of Breakdance. Because i want to evolve. Sorry i wrote alot now. That are my current feelings. Ah by the way. It might be subjective. But am i the only one that thinks bricks is still way faster than breakdance? I mean the overall loading time of a site. Literally bricks is close to a self coded site while you do feel the delay more obvious in breakdance. Anyone on the same page?

Thanks a lot GoannaCS for your testimonial! And yes, this is what we come to a conclusion too: some people will prefer Breakdance because of it's ease of use... until they come accross something they can't do... For some people, that may never happen; for others, it can be pretty soon. And yes, I totally agree that using Bricks it will help you improve your skills more than with another tool, specially with all the good stuff that Kevin Geary brings (if you don't know him, look for his YT channel). And of course, that's not even to mention the price... There are things, I think (didn't use it much) that BD does better than Bricks (for now), like WooCommerce and menus. But at some point I think Bricks will catch on. Some people will want to use 2 tools... That's also ok, but in my experience, you can never be fully comfortable with a tool if you keep on switching...

I have tested both for 2 weeks. And must say that both are revolutionary. Years ahead of Elementor which have crashed most of my websites:) I think that Bricks, after 2 or 3 versions will be unbeatable. But for now Breakdance is more intuitive. Starting for the Form builder too, which allows us to not need any other tool to style the checkboxes, etc. Anyway, both tools are much much better than Elementor and have provided me less headaches:)

I agree that Breakdance can be easier or more intuitive to use, specially for non-coders (just like Elementor), but Bricks does have more power and is probably more intuitive for those who know about programming and coding concepts. Breakdance does lack some more advanced features (like class-first approach, if I can say it like that)... So, I guess that at some point or another, one will arrive at a point where Breakdance won't be able to go further (at least, not without coding) and he will either have to give up on that feature or start using Bricks... Also, the alpha and then beta for the new version of Breakdance has been there for weeks and even months now... Why don't they do like Bricks and release updates in small chunks, instead of trying to put everything into one update and then test it for weeks...?

@@NelmediaCa Very good points! I really enjoyed Bricks a lot too and I think this will be the future. I have decided to go with Breakdance for some small projects but didn't discard Bricks. Anyway, I think the future is somewhere between these two products.

Now that's what I call an extensive review. Great stuff man, thanks! They are both great builders, I'd consider Breakdance if it offered lifetime license like Bricks does.

nice review. I think that a user with a minimum of programming skills should choose Bricks without hesitation, because the moment you use a builder and you realize that solving a problem that is not foreseen by the builder becomes a nightmare, it is that brikcs becomes a friend . In brikcs any problem can be solved quite easily even if a certain capacity is not natively supported by the builder.

Yes, I agree, hence why I push Bricks more... BUT, as I mentioned somewhere else, not everybody needs that level of control, hence why my designer, for example, would surely prefer Breakdance...

Breakdance itself may be new, but the company behind it has been around for years and is well established.

True. Thomas (Bricks' dev) is not new either: he has built other products before... But yes, Soffly is a bigger, more established company.

You should use the rich text box the you can utilize the dynamic data tag within it to pull any data that may be associated to the post, whether it be standard WP info or any custom field you have assigned!

Don't know if you refer to Bricks, Breakdance, or both... but yes, when I want to have more content (ex: many cpt data) in one block, I do use RTF.

When I open in wordpress admin to edit page and click edit with wordpress, in breakdance all work disappear. I always will be afraid that no one will click to edit with wordpress page after build it with breakdance. Sorry for my english)))

Hi, If I understand what you refer to, it's like that with most page builder... If I create a page in Bricks, and later I switch to the WP editor (Gutenberg/Blocks), it will be an empty page (well, Bricks is a little particular in that you can change settings so it saves the content in Gutenberg, but if you don't enable it, it will be empty). Same with Breakdance, Beaver Builder I guess, and probably even Elementor... And you don't want people anyway to take a page done with a page builder and modify it with the default WP editor... That being said, I agree it can be a problem and it would be good if there was a way to deactivate that button/link... But, I always teach my clients how to edit a page I made.

Zion Builder How do you like it besides bricks and brackdance?

I only played a little with it when I bought it and did my Landing Page (part of a series) with it... So, can't really give a good opinion on it... I know that when I tested it, it was nowhere near what these two builders are... Breakdance: I didn't use it that much either, but I have the feeling it's too close to Elementor, so not really worth, for me, moving from Elementor to go with it (Elementor has improved a lot in the last year)... So that's one of the reasons why I went with Bricks.

I took a few days to watch this carefully and even though I already bought Breakdance, I think I'm going to also buy Bricks for larger projects. It seems like for scalability and for people that have more development experience, or work with developers that Bricks is going to be more friendly. As far as how each builder "feels" to use, I prefer Bricks over Breakdance simply because it feels faster and more responsive. If there's a difference between the two it feels like Bricks is a toolbox, whereas Breakdance feels like a kit of Legos.

I chose Bricks as well. In this video, I purposely focus on the similarities, but Bricks is more advanced with CPT and with classes. Breakdance has the advantage of having more pre-made widgets (which, at the same time, in a way, limits it) and is possibly still better with WooCommerce. It has also improved since that video... But still, I prefer Bricks for it's flexibility, not to mention that some addons can add the missing widgets... and it's a liftetime deal...!
