That concerned me also. I think that is why she ended up not getting that dress. I think she was co-erst into saying that by the film crew and did not realize till afterwards how much it upset her Nana. I would not have worn the dress either if someone did that to me and my grandmother. My grandmother died of cancer also.

As much as I agree, sometimes, older people aren't exactly afraid to die. I just hope they were curtious to Nana's sensibilities, and that when she passed, she was safe and relaxed. I feel for the bride, I'm glad the 2 of them spent this time together, dress bought or not.

@@Sunny_psyche Regardless how elderlies feel about dying, the ones around them should be more sensitive about it. I get that they had to put it in there for show. But it could have been done in the dressing room or just away from Nana.

@@Moonchevre Sometimes, older folks feel a sense of relief that they can talk freely about their situation. My grandma made (genuinely funny) jokes about being ready to die from the day my grandpa passed to the day she had the stroke that killed her. I knew another older gentleman who believed it was part of his purpose at that point to help other people understand what the death process looks like and feel comfortable with it. Don't assume you know what is right for someone; lots of people find the secrecy around death to be very off-putting, isolating, and distressing.

so sorry for your loss. my parents only saw one of 5 siblings get married in their life. and none of our grandparents saw any of get married. such a shame. i am sure your grandfather realised how much you loved him. its hard being without his physical presence i am sure. blessings

He will be right there with you sweetheart every second of that day watching over you beaming with love & pride as you marry. Our loved one's are always with us on our special days & not so special days too. As long as you've got your memories & love for them they'll always be there no matter what.

He will be with you! You may not see him but he will see you and you’ll feel him there with you. I know he wouldn’t miss that special day

I was in a very similat situation too, my grandparenrs were the ones who took care of me during my childhood years, he was like a father to me. My grandad died the night before my 20th birthday... I spent my birthday at my grandad's wake and it was the most heart-wrenching experience ever. It's been little over a year since he's gone and I still miss him very much.

I know, right??? I always laugh at that. "It's TERRIBLE! I HATE it on you!" Add a little piece of tulle and some jewelry and "OH, it's the PERFECT dress for you now!!! I love it!!". I don't know if they're blind, just want to please the bride or have very confusing taste in wedding dresses...lol! I've always been able to visualize so this situation always floors me. :)

As someone who worked at a bridal store, people are this fickle in real life. It made me as upset as it makes you. I get it.

I think the reason behind this big shift is that they see how much the bride loves it and realize it's her day and she's a beautiful bride. Not that the veil magically makes the dresses beautiful.

Nana unfortunately passed 8 days after filming and Courtney didn't buy this dress as she said it was too difficult for her to wear it.

She never bought this dress anyway. Seeing how Nana passed 8 days after filming Courtney couldn't bare to wear this dress as she had mixed feelings over it like she'd be upset wearing it to her wedding as she didn't love it. I do love how she still found her perfect mermaid dress and she sewed a blue Nana name patch under the skirt as her 'something blue' 💙

You are luckier than me as I never got to meet any of my grandparents(except for my maternal grandmother as she lived until 100) since they passed before I was even born. My parents have passed too so none of them will see me marry if I ever do. Glad that her nana was at least there for this.

Both of my grandmothers died the year before I met my boyfriend who I do plan to marry one day. My maternal grandmother, one of my best friends in the whole world, passed a year and two weeks before I met my boyfriend. Hurts me so much that she never got to see her only granddaughter so happy and so in love.

She passed away 8 days after filming and Courtney didn't wear that dress as she had mixed feelings about buying it in the moment under pressure and she kept to her 9 month timeframe as her Nana told her to. I read it in an article recently. Also they got to watch the episode after she passed and saw what Nana said in the interviews.

I liked it (but I did not love it) They should have tried more styles indeed. Not a fan of mermaid dresses myself, they look weird to me. Choose a fitted dress or a ballgown.

@@annmariechavez7050 forgive me, but in my head I feel like it shouldn't take 8 months to a year to get alterations done on a dress. I understand that there are a lot of dresses that need to be tended to, but I feel like it shouldn't be so difficult to the point of waiting a year for your dress. This is simply my opinion.

Most dresses take approximately 8-9 months to be ordered & then made in the brides size. It severely limits what a bride can purchase, when it's less time. The bride would only be able to shop, the gowns that are available off the rack, & not every gown can be sold that way.
