To put this into perspective on just how fucked this situation is for all parties involved, this is looked down by governments waaaaay more than just something like simple distribution of a small amount of marijuana (and this is not at all the case), this was fed to a bunch of unknowing, unwilling guests at a party. Completely ridiculous to assume anybody who was there who wanted to eat cake also wanted to get blasted as fuck illegally. It is treated similarly to like intentional poisoning cases where like somebody puts some shit in the water at work, same premise where like some substance is added without knowledge, consent, or legal approval from parties consuming it. Thats the other thing that really bothers me with how little forward thinking was done in this situation. Even if you did have the morality to inform your guests that the cake is infused with weed, you’ve just informed a massive audience of people that theres a gigantic fucking illegal edible and now all it takes is a rat or like a kid to eat it or some other equally stupid shit before the police show up and start collecting what in their mind is essentially a gigantic mountain of illegal drugs in their state. No small amount whatsoever. The sheer amount involved and the extent of criminal damages will be determined by squirrelly weird enforcement regulations on the weights of edibles. Having more than like 1000 grams of an edible substance is like a 15 year minimum in the state of florida and these fuckers just fed the whole fucking wedding cake which weighs god-knows-what to a bunch of guests at a wedding.
