For those unfamiliar. The band is referring to a book called Brave New World Revisited. In his 1932 classic dystopian novel, Brave New World, Aldous Huxley depicted a future society in thrall to science and regulated by sophisticated methods of social control. Nearly thirty years later in Brave New World Revisited, Huxley checked the progress of his prophecies against reality and argued that many of his fictional fantasies had grown uncomfortably close to the truth. Brave New World Revisited includes Huxley's views on overpopulation, propaganda, advertising and government control, and is an urgent and powerful appeal for the defence of individualism still alarmingly relevant today.

"Bloody Bride" is one of their latest. My favorites are "Ignite" and "Ghoul". Kimi is beautiful, isn't she ;) ??? These girls have been trough so much ... forced to rebuild this band 3 times. Only the lead singer and the bass player are from the original group. They are currently on tour in the EU, but were forced to cancel I think it was their Sweden show :( . Highly underrated and underappreciated.

Such a highly underated band... some people think it's easy to change line-up three times and still trying... i'm really happy to see that lately they've been growing a lot, thanks to the old fans who stayed, the new fans, and people like you, that introduce them to so many people, we really appreciate that, it means a LOT... Nice reaction!

I love this band. They have fought hard to stay in the game, and deserve any love they get. One of the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands, founded in 2011. They go hard and heavy, and really epitomize the technical side of Japanese rock bands. This is the original lineup: Kimi-Vocals Haru-Bass, growls Misa-Guitars, growls Mitsuru-Guitars (pink flying V) Kai-Drums In 2019, Kai left to start a family, Misa left to pursue her own musical vision, Mitsuru soon followed, and they had to bebuild. Amazingly, they did so without any loss in quality, finding Misaki and Ayumi on Guitar, and Natsumi, formerly of Telecide, to take over on drums (after a brief stint with another drummer). New Lineup: Kimi, Haru, and Misaki-Guitar, audience left Ayumi-Guitar, audience right Natsumi-Drums I saw them live in London just after this lineup came together, and they were explosive, playing mostly stuff from the original lineup. They have been experimenting with a variety of styles, dabbing in progressive and pop, but they still come back to their metal roots. In “Brave New World Revisited” (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lZxdgruU3rPPiX0.html) I think they’ve got a masterpiece. It’s also a tour-de-force for their brilliant young guitarist Ayumi. If this is their direction, they are going to re-emerge into the top tier of Japanese bands. From the original lineup: “Light in the Dark” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebRjfqd6p8rTo4U.html “Ignite” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/grd5d9Smya3DdIU.html New Lineup: “Starlight” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/atKhbJN41rjcmXk.html “Bloody Bride” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebRjfqd6p8rTo4U.html

Hell yes, Bridear. Great reaction. This is a masterpiece and their new album is a very good one. I love this Band - forever. Bridear - together with GacharicSpin - was the first all female Band from Japan I discovered back in 2014 (before Band-Maid). They went trough some changes in the line up, but were always rocking hard, no matter what some „fans“ say that they went to soft. Same bull**** like when B-M released a softer song. Saw them several times in Europe especially here in 🇨🇭 and had the pleasure to have a Beer or two 😅 with Kimi (singer), Mitsuru (former guitarist) and KAI (former drummer). Wonderful band, lovely humble ladies. I hope they survive this rough times.

This is the best song they have put out in a while, but after many lineup changes these girls seem to mesh really well. And damn that drummer is killer....Singer and bassist are the only original members.

I am sure the members are proud of this masterpiece. The video and part of their upcoming EU and UK tour was crowdfunded. Unfortunately the first stop, Sweden has been cancelled. Bridear has been around for almost 10 years and is a fan favorite. The have had a couple major rebuilds in the lineup. Kimi, the vocalist and Haru, on bass are founding members. Natsumi, on drums formally played for Telecide. Ayumi with guitar you made a comment on and Misaki, I believe, this is their first band. They were recently signed to a UK based label and have been making use of more English lyrics. The latest album, Bloody Bride and the one prior called Expose Your Emotions are both being distributed by the new label. Most fans would say they like their earlier stuff, but I think their newer material is just as enjoyable. Light In The Dark is a favorite from the past and almost as long time wise.

Thanks for reviewing this masterpiece by one of the most exciting though underrated J-Metal bands at the moment!! I appreciate the fact that you let the musicians be the stars (and not yourself as many reviewers). That epic piece of music has finally been released on Bridear Spring 2022 album 'Aegis of Athena', which unexpectedly opens with another epic prog masterpiece not released as MV: 'Side of a bullet' (KZfaq audio link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7F1hJqrz56vqYU.html ). The rest of the album, though more classic melodic metal/rock structured, is all top level. The ladies just finished another UK/EU tour this month, and they were once again just smashing on stage, as you can see/hear here, playing one of their early 'classic tracks' in Germany: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMB6ptagstXbmJs.html

I believe the band name is pronounced like "bride and dear". I've listened to them before, but this was my first time hearing this particular song. It was outstanding!
@jamesredman12632 жыл бұрын
I'm inclined to agree. I thought of it as Bride and Ear, implying the very metal concept that some violence happened to a bride. But recently I have seen a claim that the name is indeed a contraction of Bride Dear, similar to several other two-words-combined band names in Japan, such as Aldious from Ultimate Melodious, also hyphenated ones such as Band-Maid, et cetera. Same source said Destrose was a combo of Destroya, their old name which had copyright issues with a newish character in the Godzilla franchise, and Rose. The most reasonable explanation I had seen for that name.

ARIGATO for the nice reaction!! I like this song like the progressive rock. Their first MV is so simple and so powerful. Please watch "LIGHT IN THE DARK"(the first MV). There are many talented musicians in japanese female bands. Please watch SHOW-YA. SHOW-YA is "the GREAT PIONEER" of japanese female bands. SHOW-YA started at 1981.They are all talented musicians. They were influenced by DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN and the other hard rock bands. This year is 40th anniversary year. SHOW-YA is still playing now. Please watch the next live performance. "ROLLIN' WORLD"(live in TOKYO 1989) : Amazing live performance!! "GENKAI LOVERS"(00:42~04:47) is very popular and powerful song.

Ryan! Greetings! It might prove a long and interesting road! The competition is so big in Japan that we are graced with more and more great groups! Heavy and dark message in this one considering the present world political situation! They have been active since 2011. KIMI (Vocalist) MISAKI (Guitarist) AYUMI (Guitarist) HARU (Bassist) NATSUMI (Drummer) Former members include: Misa - Bassist (2011-2017)>>>another bassist called MISA! Mitsuru (美弦) - Guitarist (2011-2019) KAI - Drummer (2011-2019) Once again a band from Fukuoka in Kyushu Island! Like Asterism! Personally they remind me a lot of German/Northern Europe hard rock/metal bands! I think the Vocalist speaks fluent English. Her accent is very British but I might be mistaken! To follow definitely! Thank you so much for the reaction and discovery! Best regards, Robert-Gilles

This is a masterpiece, I hope they stay this prog. Originally that jfemetal blend of thrash and powermetal, they are one of the only bands not from Tokyo (from Fukuoka), so just slightly different influences. Once this lineup solidified, the spent a lil time rocking up covers of pop tunes. My fav from them is their channel’s official live of Scream, from a show when only screen-left guitarist had been replaced. Fun tolook up the lyrics first. They have he balls to write & sing in English, but the accents are muy thicko And I really like this interview, but sorry I can’t translate. It’s Marty Friedman (90s Megadeth, actually official Japanese cultural emissary to the world), and goofball Rolly (and Japanese American host) interviewing the two founding Bridear members. Kimi asks what to do onstage during long guitar solos and Marty feigns being insulted, then reminds her some of the fans are hers alone, so don’t just grab some water, give em what they came for. And half of Haru’s time is spent discussing her tiny self taking over “death voice” (from the first-to-leave-in-2017 guitarist)… kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mt5dYNh8prSqeps.html

@@timgove5337 There are lot of bands from Osaka (SCANDAL, GIRLFRIEND, Dir En Grey, Sokoninaru, TRiDENT, Hump Back, Aldious), also from Fukuoka (ASTERISM, POLKADOT STINGRAY), Kyoto (Otoboke Beaver, tricot, Rottengraffty), Okinawa (Stereopony), Utsunomiya (Lucie Too), Nara (The Oral Cigarettes), Saitama (Ling Tosite Sigure), Niigata (a crowd of rebellion), Kanagawa (SiM), Hirosaki (Ningen Isu)...🙃

@@2abug thank you, great list. And yes Kansai/Osaka metal band scene is worth mentioning. But even there, tons of musicians move to Tokyo. And many of the others aren’t metal. Ningen Isu is a great exception. But to foreigners, Kyoto n Osaka? same region, saitama?, Kanagawa? Greater Tokyo. But Fukuoka is like Pantera coming from Texas rather than LA or New York. Some of the other bands and cities could be compared to Boston/Aerosmith,Philadelphia, Detroit (Motown, mc5, stooges), Chicago, etc Fukuoka is a different environment, can hear the “lack” of Tokyo/Osaka influence, some independence imho

Just curious. I often think of Bridear as the Japanese Iron Maiden. do you think this song is meant by them (in title and spirit) to be a salute to Iron Maiden's "Brave New World"?? Might be just me, but I think vocalist Kimi sounds way better when she sings in Japanese. I haven't listened to their new album yet, but I hope it's not all in English. Just an assumption, but I think it's probably way harder to sing in a language you don't really speak, because you can't concentrate 100% on the singing itself if you always need to think about the words and pronounciation you're not completely familiar with. That being said, I love Bridear, especially the earlier thrashier stuff.
@RyanMear2 жыл бұрын
I'm looking forward to hearing some Japanese singing by her
@ANDOR-2 жыл бұрын
@@otobokegaijin6218 Yeah, definitely agree. It's a pretty big dilemma, at least I think so. Either most of your foreign fans don't understand the lyrics or you have to maybe sacrifice a bit of depth and maybe divide your concentration between singing and what it is you're singing. It's probably the same for every artist who isn't 100% fluid in the language they're singing, not just the Japanese. A good example (in my opinion) would be Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus. I think she sounds somehow different (but still awesome) in their all-English track "Carry on Singing to the Sky" compared to their usual all-Japanese songs. But maybe the whole "they sound better in Japanese" is just my opinion because I think everything sounds better in Japanese (at least from native speakers) ;) Also, speaking of BM and B-M, I think the song (and MV) which meaning is most lost in translation from these two bands is probably Megitsune. Sure, you can translate it, but you'll never get the meaning of it if you're someone who doesn't know anything about Japanese culture without 2 extra pages of explanations.
