I was thinking how hideous when I remembered these were my colours! I had exactly what the bridesmaid suggested but it was sapphire dresses with pale yellow and white flowers. Decor theme was silver. The flower girl wore a white dress with a blue satin sash (like Sound of Music). It looked amazing and very different. Everyone complimented the colours.

Even yellow flowers with a blue dress would look hideous. But not everyone has the best sense of style...

​@@AkireMaru Yellow and blue flowers look really beautiful, especially if you choose pastels or toned down versions: think vanilla and lavender or wedgwood and lemon or even navy and gold. Even that royal blue and honey yellow can work, if you add white or orange-red and go for a summer at the farm or the vineyard feel.

Black women look amazing in yellow. You can just see from their skin tones that it would look good. Very few WHITE people look good in yellow. We don’t play by y’all’s rules 😂

She didn't say anything about skin color. However, she is correct in that not everyone, of any skin color, can wear yellow. Also, not everyone can wear the same shade of yellow. I get that the bride chooses her colors, I was a bride once too. However, unless the bride is paying for the bridesmaids dresses, she is going to have to let them have a say in what they are spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for. I told my bridesmaids the colors, one of which was white, so they didn't really have a choice in color ( burgundy, so they all looked good in it), and they chose the style. This bride has too many bright colors and if her bridesmaids wore all of her colors, everyone would be looking at them, not at the bride. They should all wear one color, just like it ended up.

She said “VERY FEW” people look good in yellow, effectively saying it doesn’t work for most. It doesn’t work for most of THEM. Various shades works for us work for us amazingly. I never said one yellow works for all. I commented on her blanket statement about any yellow in general looking bad. I promise you don’t want to mince words with me

This is just a western outlook on the wedding, I understand your point, however in non western countries the bridesmaids and guests dress with full glam to weddings and no one thinks that's the bride is being overshadowed at all. Actually the bride wants the guests to dress with full glam because it shows that they care about the event and are putting in effort. Interesting perspectives from different locations of the world

Understandable but if the bridesmaids have to pay for the dresses I think they should have a say.

@@Lynnys1 Are you married? Do you understand it's the bride's day? Do you "go along to get along" so you don't hurt somebody else's tender little feelings? If the bridesmaids aren't friends enough with the bride to honor her wishes or afford the dress, they should back out. No harm, no foul. But, of course, their egos won't allow for that. Truthfully, ego is uglier than ANY bridesmaid dress I've ever seen.

@@angelbulldog4934 yes I am married. And yes I understand that it’s the bride’s day. If a bride is steadfast in the decision she has made re the bridesmaid dresses she should pay for them. If the bridesmaids are expected to pay they shouldn’t be expected to shell out hundreds on a dress that they hate. My opinion, to which I am entitled to express.

The strapless dresses all looked terrible on the taller girl. She was too flat chested for the strapless dresses. The one shoulder looked good on her, and I think will look fine on the rest of them too.
