The Kelani River flows through Kitulgala offering the opportunity for a gamut of water sports. In 1956 the location was used to film the movie - Bridge on the Kwai.

A lovely look back at the movie and location. With the accompanying music and terse narration, I think Destination Sri Lanka have produced another great video. It is a pity that the Sri Lankan (Ceylonese) Government of the time did not think it important to preserve more souvenirs from the movie.

My recollection is that the engineers responsible for the design of the bridge for the film were Husband & Co, Consulting Engineers and their name appears in the Credits for the film.
