Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, Peter Cook and Jonathan Miller recorded a piece of silliness in 1962, a parody of the 1957 film "The Bridge on the River Kwai". It was produced by George Martin for EMI's Parlophone Records.

Brilliant. I have many fond memories of my brothers and I sitting in the lounge room with Dad, listening to his LP of this, laughing our heads off. It was his favourite Goons album.

Penetrating into enemy territory unarmed as well. Sellers voice brilliant. This was why we were glued to the radio as kids. Thank you thank you for posting and bringing back so many wonderful memories.

As originally scripted and recorded, this was called "...River Kwai", but due to a threatened lawsuit from the producers of the film, they had to change it. George Martin had to go through the recording and cut the "K" off the start of every usage of "Kwai". Once you know that, you can hear it.

Having visited the actual bridge and being aware of its history, which was absolutely nothing like that portrayed in the film, I am amazed that the Studio lackeys had the brass neck to restrict anything at all. Their take on it was clearly “Why let the truth stand in the way of a good story?“ Whatever, Christmas 2021 and I’m watching the actual movie for the tenth time, and now listening to Spike and Company for the 20th time, and I am about to press that plunger!
