Jonathan Bailey deserves the Emmy for the scene where he gets to know from his mother that Kate is awake

I know a lot of people disliked Anthony in S1 but I've always understood where he was coming from bc to me it was obvious that he went through heavy parentification issues. And S2 shows how he also has a lot unresolved trauma that warped his life views. Suddenly having to step in as the parent at a young age to his 7 other siblings with his mother being absent while also carrying the responsibilities as the new viscount with practically no support is a lot. He didnt even get a chance to properly grieve the death of his father, who in his eyes is the greatest man ever. Sure he can be so stubborn and overprotective but he always has his family's best interest in mind. Running their estates, overlooking their staffs, essentially being the father figure esp towards the two youngest, taking care of their finances so that all his siblings can live comfortably and follow their dreams, making sure the girls have dowries and nice dresses etc. It kinda breaks my heart how everyone is so quick to point out his inadequacies and it made him feel like he was doing a terrible job when he was trying his best to keep everything together. I think people do noticed that he's struggling but not how *much* he actually was and helped him. Sure he closed off his emotions even when his family reached out but it felt a bit too cruel to see how when he was having a hard time, the siblings still make snarky comments and give him harsh reality slaps when all he needs is some understanding, comfort and affection. And it took Violet so long to realize that her son still hasn't processed the death his father well and how she was putting too much pressure on him. No wonder Anthony became so high strung and uptight. And this is why Kate is perfect for him. Aside from how they just bounce off each other so well, Kate really understands him bc she practically went through the same thing. They know what it's like to sacrifice yourself for the sake of your family. And now together they both get to learn and heal from their issues.

One thing I caught in this that I never caught in the actual episode, Edmund said “You cannot show someone your best, without showing them your worst.” And this is part of why he and Kate work and he and Edwina did not. He never let Edwina see the real him while courting, hell she even tells Daphne she thinks he’s even tempered.

Anthony's story is special and Jonathan Bailey is perfect in this role! Good job!

Wow fantastic job showing Anthony bridgerton character growth . While most hated him season 1 I always knew he had inner demons he had to face . I love how u paralleled Edmund and Kate bee sting as well as his fear of losing Kate ! Jonny and Simione killed it this season the chemistry was insane 😍❤️🔥🥵 ps give them Emmy’s they killed it . They expressed so much with their eyes when they hid so much underneath .

I think this might be the finest crafted Bridgeton S2 edit I've ever seen. Well done and thank you. Your edit shows just how good this show really is. Beyond the romance, humor and pageantry there is genuine substance with superb acting and storytelling at its center. Way to go Bridgerton; you've won us all fair and square.

This character is so deep 🤧😪 Anthony is my favorite character from the first season.The fact that he was still angry already made me think that he was in pain and that he had a lot of love to offer. Love this edit! It’s a perfect bringing together of the story and the character. I loved the character (unlike other people) in series 1 - but then I’ve always had a spot for a bad boy! Using Rupert Evans (one of my favourite bad boys - as Frank Churchill ) for Edmund here was perfect! So good to see him back in period drama and looking mighty fine too!

After the first time, I couldn’t rewatch the father’s death scene. I always fast forward it It’s really traumatic. I’m not surprised it ruined the character’s psychological well being

Such shows are designed (shamelessly by Netflix) to revise and erase the historical horrors of British Colonialism. Indians romancing white guys in Colonial Britain..Yeah right. non white people were sub human in colonial Britain. Some might argue, this show is a piece of fiction trying to bring mutli racial representation (and I agree to some extent), but this attempt becomes egregious because neither the British monarchy nor any member of the British regency have ever expressed any form of public regret for Colonialism unlike the Germans have for the holocaust...There is a convenient inhibition nowadays to discuss the horrors of colonialism in the West .. Hell a lot of Britishers are arrogant enough to even think colonialism were good for the colonies.. Also the British don't teach their colonial past in schools.. The scores of shows fantasizing the Victorian era British Regency (which was built on stolen money from the colonies after oppressing and killing its people) on British and American Television with no mention of colonialism is ample proof for this 'push it under the rug' attitude
