Where does the main jet go? Watch and find out. I notices that @Chickanic just posted a similar video with part numbers for the o-ring. Check it out on her channel.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I was taking the carb apart and, yeah, this little thing falls out--don't know where it came from. Shop is closed for the holiday, manual just shows the parts but main jet is not shown connected to ANYTHING, and first youtube video doesn't say anything about it either. Carb is all torn apart and I need answers. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!

Thank you so much😅!!! After first winter new John Deere d130 would not stay running. Figured gelled gas in carb. Took it off & cleaned it. I do remember now finding jet and not knowing where it came from. I was sure it belonged on that plastic tube seemed to fit great. Well , after, engine stayed running but has surged horribly ever since except levels off under load of mower deck. I have taken carb off a good 10 times or more googling and racking my brains for months with no success. I had been installing jet on top of tube instead of turning it over and pushing it up the tube to seat. I am certain that your video has solved a 2 year elusive problem for me. I can't thank you enough.

First time I have dis-assembled a Nikki carb and some of the parts including the main jet had already come loose from their positions. After cleaning the carb three times, including steam cleaning , I had the cleanest Nikki carb in Scotland but it was still not working! My conclusion was that I was assembling the unit incorrectly. Your video confirmed my error and sorted out the problem; I had been inserting the main jet at the top of the mounting as opposed to placing it into the flow tube at the bottom. Garden tractor now working fine with it's B&S 13.5hp OHV engine. Many thanks.

Thanks Rob for taking the time and energy to post this video. I did not think that I would find this information but here it is and you did a great job answering it. I cleaned the carb and thought that I could get away without replacing the bowl gasket. It leaked right away. The second time I removed the bowl the main jet dropped out. I lost track of how the main jet was oriented (I knew where it went ok). Again thanks, you are awesome.
@302vettelife27 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome. They don't run too well if that jet is in the wrong location. If it falls out easily, its usually an indication that the o-ring is worn out. Unfortunately, the o-ring is not serviced, but a new jet comes with it. And it's cheap.
@banjo88797 жыл бұрын
My first attempt at cleaning a NIKKI carb on a 10hp B&S engine, thought it was plugged up so blew out bottom of transfer tube and jet went someplace in the shop back wall, never to be seen again. $10 later all fixed. Lesson learned. Good informative video, wish I had seen it before I got out the air hose on mine.

Usually that o-ring is worn out and doesn't hold the jet in. You have to buy the jet to get the or-ring. Unfortunately, you can't get the o-ring separate. Glad you got it back together.
@pogtuber51469 ай бұрын
@@302vettelife2 do you think if the o-ring is worn out the jet won't work right? Mine doesn't stay in either but I assume it gets pushed into place upon reassembly?
@302vettelife29 ай бұрын
@@pogtuber5146 I honestly don't know. The fact that most of these jets fall out easily, leads me to believe most of the o-rings are worn out. I haven't had an issue with how the engine runs though. BTW, I was unable to replace that oring. You have to purchase a new jet to get the whole deal.
@pogtuber51469 ай бұрын
@@302vettelife2 thanks, I'm looking at a rebuilt kit. The big circular gasket that seals the passages and float bowl seems to have stretched over the years as well and doesn't appear to fit correctly either.
@302vettelife29 ай бұрын
@@pogtuber5146 Yes, they are super common to deform. Also a pain to put back together without pinching that large seal. The Nikki Carb was a terrible design for small engines. Good luck with it.

Thank you! I've had a lot of troubles with the carb recently, and after installing a new carb kit and cleaning the other parts I was still having issues. Turns out I had reinstalled the main jet upside-down, and what's more neither the new nor the old jet would fit into the new housing, so I had to use the old housing with the old jet, with of course the new needle valve.
