To the contrary, Salicylic acid is a BHA(Beta Hydroxy Acid) which also is a skin care product working as an exfoliant more prominently on acne prone and oily skin reducing hyperpigmentation and sebum secretion. Thus, the answer to your question according to me is that the use of any of the acid clearly depends on your skin type as glycolic acid can work on any skin type without any exceptions whereas salicylic acid is used only on oily and acne prone skin because it can cause dryness, irritation and cause allergic reactions in some cases. The more suitable product for Tan removal is glycolic acid and replacing it with salicylic acid for Tan removal is not something worth it.
