"Sandstorm is boring" Counter-argument: Sandstorm herself is an interesting character with a lot of potential that got overlooked due to the limited development granted to female characters/love interests in this series.

She was a cocky and overexcited apprentice, and she grew up to be wise and respected

I feel like I’m the only person who actually likes Sandstorm... Also I want a Sandstorm Novella

I feel like Sandstorm had a lot of potential. She had fiery, hot-headed temper when she was young, but she lost it very fast as she grew up. I feel like they could have delved more into how Fireheart’s calm and gentle nature contrasted with Sandstorm’s personality, and how they complimented each other when they made decisions. They didn’t show it enough. Erin Hunter could make Sandstorm have her very own Super Edition or Novella, not as a side character in Fireheart’s Quest. I think that would make many warrior cat fans happy. But it’s ultimately up to the authors whether or not they want to delve into Sandstorm’s character. I personally would very much enjoy a book completely about Sandstorm and her personal struggles. Overall, I think Fireheart’s and Sandstorm’s relationship was rushed. They could have delivered it better.

As a person who's favorite character is Sandstorm, I appreciate her. I love how Sandstorm, while still being bratty at sometimes, is supportive. She cares about Fireheart, and while her only personality was "Firestar's gf" for a long time, I appreciate her unique personality. I agree with Akira, saying that in The Apprentice's Quest she wanted to go on one last adventure, but I also think that she wanted to go because she originally made the journey to Skyclan with Firestar. Firestar's quest was the prime of her life, the first few years of marriage and pregnancy in the epilogue. I agree with the people in the comments, saying that she's boring at times, but she has many highlights of her life. One of the reasons I love Squirrelflight so much is because you can tell she's related to Sandstorm on the personality department. Sandstorm is great, she grows as a person and I think she deserves a lot more recognition in the fandom. Feel free to reply to my comment and I'll be happy to discuss about Sandstorm! :)

It's actually really good if Tawnypaw becomes Sandstorm's apprentice. Because Tawnypaw and Bramblepaw are siblings. If Tawnypaw was Sandstorm's apprentice, it's just like if Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw get adopted by a new parents, Firestar and Sandstorm. (This is just my opinion)

Personally, I love Sandstorm. Fire/Sand is my favourite relationship in Warriors for having both detail of the ups and downs and a healthy portrayal (we see cute healthy couples like FernIvy, SorrelBracken, etc. but they aren't main characters... and likewise many main couples in Warriors that work out have unhealthy aspects in them, like SquirrelBramble, FinTwig, DoveTiger, etc.). While I see what you mean when you say her arguments with Fireheart in the first arc may carry some petty undertones, I think it reveals more about her personality than you initially give those scenes credit for. To illustrate, we need to look at why and how did their relationship start getting so close. Sandpaw not liking Firepaw at the beginning is very, very important aspect of this relationship's success. Wildborn cats are generally taught to scorn cats with non-wildborn backgrounds, seeing their wild blood as a status or birthright to being a noble Clan warrior. Firepaw is born a kittypet, and to Sandpaw, seeing all the special treatment he got from the senior warriors, get made a full warrior before her despite training for less time, has got to really damage her pride. A kittypet doesn't deserve this treatment compared to her, a hard-working and skillled wildborn Clan cat! In most Clan cat's eyes, a kittypet would never be able to match the abilities or nobility of a wildborn cat, and therefore would never fit in with a Clan. The moment when Fireheart saved her, treated her like a clanmate and demonstrated loyalty, was when Sandpaw realised that his background doesn't determine what kind of clan warrior he could be, and so she chooses to be respectful and get to know him better. From there, they communicate and play, share their fears and goals and grow closer as friends, then romantic partners. They were only able to reach this point because they had to confront the barriers that prevented them from accepting each other fully: the perceived barrier between being wildborn and a kittypet. I think that's why it stung so much for Sandstorm when Fireheart said that if Cloudpaw left, he'd have nobody else to connect with. She felt that the bond and friendship they built together already transcended those barriers, and they both fully trusted and accepted each other for who they are. At the same time, Sandstorm isn't going to ignore the fact that, while kittypets can be just as much of a Clan cat as a wildborn, being a Clan cat is still a difficult choice and not a perfect fit for everyone. She is considering the possibility that Cloudpaw simply isn't willing to make this kind of choice for himself, and this upsets Fireheart, but what she is saying is generally true. Her "arguments" with Fireheart's deputy role felt less like an actual disagreement and just.. emotions running hot in a stressful time. But the fact that she was willing to put the pressure on him came from a supportive place imo. She was voicing the fears of the Clan, helping him acknowledge pragmatically what needs to be addressed. This is one thing I feel Firestar really appreciates about her, her ability to see situations pragmatically and face the negative possibilities head-on. Firestar is much, much more of an idealistic dreamer type. I totally agree that her character could have used more individual spotlight and less focused on Firestar's problems. I really loved Sandstorm and Alderpaw in TAQ for giving us some of that. At the same time, I feel like she is more than a "love interest" character insofar that I think you can take the FireSand relationship as a *whole* by watching their dynamics interplay and intersect and draw some interesting ideas from it. And agreed that Spotted/Fire was really unnecessary. It is pretty weird that Firestar is really attached to a cat he only knew for a short time. I feel like Spottedleaf should have also backed off and not try to pursue him or like... be so emotionally charged in his dreams. It affects Sandstorm, and she has been shown to be a little insecure/jealous with regards Firestar in the early books. In conclusion, I feel that Sandpaw's antagonistic feelings towards Firepaw were very important and a necessary part of writing the relationship. It's very well-executed because the change of heart demonstrates how both easy and difficult it can be to overcome barriers. On the one hand, everybody is an individual and all it takes is a small change of perspective to move beyond stereotypes. But on another vein, navigating genuine differences in experience and background takes patience and mutual learning together. FireSand reminds me of couples from very different cultures who choose to be together. There are challenges in communicating, and not everyone will approve or understand right away. But when the barriers are let down and understood, at the end they get to see the true individuals that shine. Sandstorm's passage in Code of the Clans, A Change of Heart, is really sweet and is a great look into she moves from the idea that 'kittypets can't be warriors' into admiring Firestar's strength as an individual, and by getting to know him, seeing how his kittypet background allows him to see angles that a wildborn cat wouldn't consider: "Maybe it’s *because* Fireheart was a kittypet. He doesn’t just accept the warrior code; he thinks about it and figures out how it’s supposed to work. And when it doesn’t, like when he should have obeyed his leader who ordered him to attack WindClan, he challenges it and does something different. Is that a weakness in Clan cats, that we do what we’re told just because that’s what our ancestors did? Dustpelt insists that Fireheart doesn’t belong in ThunderClan because the code says we have to reject kittypets. But we have to reject their life, not the cats themselves. And Fireheart has done that, hasn’t he? He started out as a kittypet and chose to leave it all behind to join ThunderClan." Oh, and just fyi. Sandstorm deserved to be deputy after graystripe. She would have easily been picked as deputy if she had gotten an apprentice, but firestar was too obsessed with not showing nepotism to her specifically. -_- Sandstar would have been majestic as heck.

Can I just say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Dustpaw/pelt design. I always thought he was grey not brown but apparently he is brown?? I like the idea of him being a dark grey-ish brown colours (hence Birchfall being brown-ish but quite a bit white too, Spiderleg being black and brown, shrewpaw being brown, Hollykit being dark grey, Larchkit being pale brown and grey). Its a really nice design. All of Missy Dakotas designs are awesome but the Dustpaw/pelt one really took my attention.

I've always loved Sandstorm in my opinion.

I like it when people analyze the psychology and purposes of the first arc background characters. Some cats actually had potential, like Graystripe and Darkstripe being half brothers, Ciderpelt's relationship with her younger sister, Brightpaw, after her injury, even Ashpaw and Fernpaw's relationship.

Sandstorm was my favorite cat until my obsession with scourge, and ashfur. I think she was an amazing character, certainly don't think she was boring. I just wanted her to have a better end, preferably dying in battle like the warrior she was.

Sandstorm is my absolute favorite character. Maybe it's because I gravitated to her as a girl when I first started reading these books. She was definitely sassy at first, but I really admired her as she developed. I found her to be a sort of role model. I dealt with a lot of things growing up, including abuse so I was always extremely timid and never spoke up for myself. Seeing female characters in media that were strong (not necessarily physically strong, or adept) but emotionally and mentally assured, had proper boundaries with other characters, and worked to develope good self-esteem, was amazing and I gravitated to them. I honestly think it helped me developed to where I am now as an adult of 24. I will always have nostalgia goggles for Sandstorm. She was one of these first accessible characters for me, and I just love her. Of course, she had her flaws. She defiantly didn't get enough author attention. And as much as I love Firestar, I hated the way he emotionally cheated on her with Spottedleaf, and how Sandstorm came back to him and just tried to ignore it even though she DID not like it. I think in a way seeing that happen to Sandstorm made me more aware of certain red flags in relationships down the line. But overall she was a great character at her core who I feel deserves more appreciation for the self-assured, strong female character she was. And honestly, it couldn't hurt for her to get more attention from the authors. I would be first in line for a Sandstorm super edition. I mean all of Firestar's other confidants got either a super edition or a novella (Ravenpaw, Greystripe, Spottedleaf, Brambleclaw, etc). Where's my girl Sandy's book!?

I feel like we need a sandstorm special edition, or something big that happens including her. Nobody says 'Sandstorm is my favourite character!' that much, and I feel like she is Firestar's mate so she should be included in important stuff a bit more, but with HER as a big part of it, not her mate.

Sandstorm in the Apprentice's Quest is honestly the best grandmother figure we've had in Warrior cats.

Man I'm actually early for once Anyway, Sandstorm is my favorite character (next Brightheart and Blackstar) so I'm probably biased, but yeah, she lost a lot of personality as a warrior. It's almost like as soon as she became an adult she lost every childish aspect of her personality-which obviously isn't how it works, but y'know, Warrior Cats. I still lover her though, and I'd take her over Spottedleaf ANY day. I'm so relieved Fire x Spotted never became canon. (I just really hate Spottedleaf lmao)

Sandstorm is one of my fav characters she is an incredible mate who always supported Firestar no matter what, she was an excellent mother raising two of the most notable and honorable she-cats in Thunderclan despite their many flaws and mistakes, and as a warrior she was brave and wise. Personally, I've never been much of a fan of Sandstorm growing up, and after re-reading the series as well. I always felt that she didn't have anything going for her except for being Firestar's love interest, which is why I always had a preference for Cinderpelt over Sandstorm (and Spottedleaf). But then after reading AVoS, I found myself actually genuinely liking her and her relationship with Alderheart, it was very sweet, and I wasn't sure why I thought that at the time. I guess it's because I realized she wasn't in Firestar's shadow anymore, and had her own character agency for once, at least to me that's how it looked. I think your video sums up how I feel about her really well, and I'm also happy you mentioned the forgotten friendship between her and Dustpelt too, not many people seem to note that.

The only time I actually liked Sandstorm was in the Apprentice Quest. I think it is showing. I never cared about her throughout any of the book of the serie, but in this one, I loved her so much and ended up crying when she died. Before she was just the wise and caring figure beside Firestar. Not a real character, just a figure here to give advices and comfort. But in this one she finally became a real character.

I wanted sandstorm to talk about her loosing her father at a young age and talk about firehearts and Spottedleaf “relationship”.

I feel like, other than her living in Firestar’s shadow, she’s just known as a good hunter and Leafpool and Squirrelflight’s mother. I don’t know what book or what page or the exact line, but I remember a line saying something about Hollypaw hunting almost as well as Sandstorm. I do kind of like that detail though because she and Dustpaw were always in hunting parties lol

She could been a pretty badass character. Erins wasted her terribly.. they could make her and Firestar into Thunderclan 'power couple' instead of that soapy treesome with Spottedleaf in canon. It seems that Erins know only two ways of writing romances: it's either blank and tasteless like FireXSand or toxic ones like you-know-who..

I always liked here she started off as very cocky and hated firepaw since he used to be a kittypet but then he saved her and then spent meow time together while graystripe was off with silverstream. After that she started to change her view on kittypets then she became a respected warrior. I also loved her in the apprentices quest and was sad when she died but i guess it was her time.

I think it'd be interesting if you did a video on disabilities in warriors and how unfair it is (one example is cinderpaw having her dreams crushed because of her twisted leg yet deadfoot who had the some condition was able to become deputy)
