Good one man. This was my first console back in the 80's. So good to see one still getting some love. I should dust mine off and see if it still works.

You should! The 2600 doesn't get enough love these days

I love the design of the Junior, I have a Woody 4 switch and a Junior, but I mainly use the Junior because of the better design. I especially like that all the cables disconnect. By the way, great video, love your channel, I subbed :)

Someone needs to develop an aftermarket TIA chip replacement, either by an FPGA on a board with pins to fit in the socket, or a bunch of ICs on a board to replicate the functions of a TIA.

Yep, we've all been forced to be creative with radial caps on an axial footprint at some point. Nice work.

More critical parts are currently in the mail. Part two coming soon!

Thankfully Jr didn't have any cavities! 🤣 Silly joke aside, that's a great video and overview on cleaning. Much thanks!!

I have a jr that had the same problem: it was the power switch. Try putting pressure on it when you turn it on. Mine would work only if I pressed down on it with my thumb. I cleaned it with contact cleaner and it worked better.

That's the model I had as a kid, sadly it died a few years later.

How do i reattach the ribbons? I need screws for it as well. Tried to clean the 6502 and well...it's sitting unused

I just picked up 2600 jr from a flea market with a 4game cart. Paid 20 dollars au. Stoked as hell. No cables or controllers though😢. Doesn't smell burnt out and looks visually fine on the inside except one trim pot. I can't wait to see if it works. Are you in WA

Yes, and good find!

@retrogameon melville markets Sunday 1 week ago. I was absolutely over the moon. I wondered why the logo didn't feel the same as I remember.... it's still got the protective film on it. I'm gonna email u a photo or 2 if that's OK with you?

Great video, thank You Bro!! Question: What are the names of the electronic supply stores that You get Your capacitors and other replacement parts at? I have been a little bit lost since radio shack closed it's doors, and I really don't know where else to go to get these type of supplies at! Thanks so much My Friend!!

I'm in Australia, so they were bought from stores local to me (Jaycar and Altronics).

I'm intrigued now, how did it go? Will you upload a second video?
@retrogameon4 жыл бұрын
No second video yet, but spoiler alert, a brand new TIA did not fix the issue. The analogue pins are still not getting a signal, so it's something else. I've taken a break from this project for now, but it will be back

@@retrogameon Thanks for the update! Your video made me think about my 2600 JR so I'll be soon up getting my hands on it. I just suscribed, will look forward to new content

I can't seem to get my Atari 2600 to work. I used two different power adapters, two different switchboxes, a video input cable and no luck. Could it be the console itself? Here's a video from my page. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jcxgpNdk1q7Tl58.html
