But Visby have some issue , those ships where build in doctrine where Sweden will defend it self , and Visby would not attack but rather hide , and sise of those ships 640t is very small you just cant instal powerful weapon system , Finland for decades went that way too , they used 250t Hamina class fast attack ships , but now they will build 4 Pohjanmaa-class corvette to replace those and those will be 3900t ... on the other side Poland that operated 2 OHP Frigates 4100t will change those for 3-4 Type 31 Frigates with 5700t diplacement , and with CAAMM AA system , RBS15 & Mk 41 VLS ... I guess after Sweden will enter NATO , thing will change and Visby will become obsolete in new doctrine , and Sweden will build larger ships.

@@huzarion3814 as a Swede with close ties to the armed forces, my bet is that we will build more ships of the same sizes we already use and replace the older traditional corvettes with Visby class corvettes instead of bigger ships that would be unwieldy and hard to conceal in the baltic sea. Possibly that the next gen of Swedish AiP submarines will be a bit bigger and with semi-modular hull to enable easier future upgrades. What we will see is a lot of small and large changes in the communication and command equipment and methods to match up and integrate with existing NATO systems and protocols, changes that's been prepared in the armed forces admin for a couple of decades at least, with the airforce and navy also integrating in practice more than the army throughout various international exercises.

(BTW Sweden in NATO = better sale of Swedish military hardware , after Sweden decided to join NATO , chance of selling Submarines to Polan rise a loot)

The Strv 2000 was a project in the late 80s / early 90s. It was cancelled when the Swedish government decided to buy the Leopard 2 instead. I had the opportunity to see the plywood mockup before it was cancelled.

I'm a Saab fan and just bought another one last month, with a few mods I was able to get 300 HP out of a little 2.0 liter. But they helped build a Sub that this summer had headlines like"How a cheap Swedish submarine 'ran rings' around a US aircraft carrier and its sub-hunting escorts"In 2005, the USS Ronald Reagan, a newly constructed $6.2 billion aircraft carrier, sank after being hit by torpedoes. Fortunately, this did not occur in actual combat but was simulated as part of a war game pitting a carrier task force including numerous antisubmarine escorts against HSMS Gotland, a small Swedish diesel-powered submarine displacing 1,600 tons. Yet despite making multiple attacks runs on the Reagan, the Gotland was never detected.1996 Swedish Tech, Saab Delivers 2nd Upgraded Gotland-Class Submarine To Sweden.2020.I heard Saab helped the US build its 4 billion dollar Sub.

Well, Sweden and Russia used to fight it out continuously (in what is now Finland, back then colonised "East-Sweden" ) until ca 200 years ago. So Sweden has continually been trying to be prepared for Russia, and have the kit to match.

Well, their Arms industry, Bofors and Saab, are part of BAE. So nothing small about it. And they have a lot of German R&D Support for a lot of their post 1990 Equipment. For example the RBS-15 Mk4 war in Part developed by DIEHL, the primary German and European Missile and Guidance System Manufacturer. Like they are behind the IRIS, the Meteor....

@@TheNecromancer6666 absolutely. Additionally Sweden has developed their own airplanes, ships, submarines, tanks, etc, even before they had international cooperations. The proud former empire of the north felt they needed to be self sufficient in arms manufacturing to a great extent.

This is freaking awesome! Can you imagine what DCS would be like if each nation had this type of kit and the devs improved the ground game a bit? But, you can use a lot of these Swedish units as stand-ins for US/NATO war games in general due to having roughly equivalent units within their inventory.

The volvo damage model is correct. Only the 240 series (and possibly earlier) cannot be destroyed.

@@lohrtom I know what you meant and I don't agree. The Swedish arm producers, Bofors, SAAB, BAE, Carl Gustaf, JAS etc. are well known and very highly respected by the people who are in the industry. The same goes for the Norwegian producers.

Issue with Sweden is that Sweden is small country , and arms sales often go with security guaratee , and Sweden cant guaratee if there will ex. if Russia attack Poland , that Sweden will supply Poland with parts to let say Gripen , because Sweden wont risk go to war , so that was reason why Poland bought 2003 F16 instead of Jas39 , and 2019 F35 instead of Gripen NG , when you sell weapon you sell military might , and Sweden have good weapons but dont have military might.

STRV 2000 is designed for wooded forest fighting. It sits in a trench overlooking avenues of approach hidden. No need for a rotating turret. This mod is perfect for the KOLA MAP.

you're thinking of the strv 103 and its derivitives. The strv 2000 first of all never left the drawing board never getting further than a wooden mockup. second, the design did have a turret as you can see in the game rendition. As for the 103's "sitting in a trench" thing, yeah it can be used like that, much like every other tank can. The 103 was designed at a time when turret stabilizers were still not used that much meaning that having to stop to fire was not much of a downside as most turreted tanks had to do the same.

Cool! It's a nice piece of equipment along the RBS 90. You can really hide them in terrain, and they make good work out of choppers. And since they're beam guided, chaff or flares won't do you any good. 👌🏻

The "Archer" 155mm cannon on the truck chassis was one of the models recently evaluated by the US Army which is looking to acquire one of those. Just like they have the tracked M270 and truck-based HIMARS, they want to compliment their tracked 155mm with a truck-mounted unit for extra mobility. I think it's absolutely a requirement given counter-battery fire, overall mobility speeds required, and the fact the US needs a boost in overall artillery numbers in general (it has proven to be very important in modern warfare still). Also, the latest Abrams X concept (recently released) has an updated 120mm tank cannon and replaces the .50 cal machine gun mounted on the top with a remote 30mm autocannon. It will also have a headset much like the F-35 so the tankers will see through their armor essentially.

They did mess up it's range though. They stated a 25km range in the mod, that should be 40km for regular HE, lomger for Bonus and Excalibur shells.

PAC-3 is gonna really help ingame, their PAC-2 variant looks like it’s a bit better than the stock ingame one.

Thanks! The assets are modelled after the Swedish LvS 103 system which is based on the PAC-3 MSE and the PAC-2 GEM/T. The latter is a more modern PAC-2 version than the ingame one. 👍🏻

3:07 That model is actually that of the Leopard 2A5 standing in for the Strv122. The difference is that Strv122 has GALIX smoke launchers as well as improved forward hull, turret roof and bottom hull armor. It also has an improved battle control and communication interface, but that's not visible to the outside.

Strv 121 is a plain Leo2 A4, leased from Germany as stopgap until the strv 122 got delivered. Strv 122 is a fork from the Leo2 Improved, which also resulted in the Leo2 A5. Yes, already the RBS70 used radar to preaim the fire units so they were pointing in the right direction when the target came into range..

The mod team has done a really great job. I would like to see more implementations of European armies in this quality. Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands have many identical vehicles. It would also be nice if there were support vehicles that don't fight on the front line but would still be important for the simulation, e.g. supplies, medics and transport.

I'm pretty sure that the strv 121 and 122 are Swedish produced however they are licenced versions of the leopards, obviously with slight modifications.

The 121 were plain Leo2 A4 leased from Bundeswehr to cover the gap until the strv 122 was delivered. The 122 was a development of the Leo 2 Improved, licence produced in Sweden. The other version that came out of the Leo2 Imp was the A5.

Fun fact: the aux 40mm on the strv 2000 shoots meatballs! In this way you can feed the civilians as well as fighting the baddies.

I love that they still have good old Bofors 40 L70, I mean compared to the Rheinmetall 35 and 50mm guns its kind of shit, cause its manually clipfed, and doesn't have a Belt. But its just classic and has excellent ballistics and as far as I know something like the German AHEAD System.

@@TheNecromancer6666 the L70 on the CV90 chassi is mag fed with three 8 round mags of ready ammo and lots more under the turret floor accessible from the troop compartment in the back so they can assist in topping up the mags during lulls in the firing.

@@SonsOfLorgar the 30/35/50 mil Rheinmetall have a few dozen to a few hundred round ready belted up ready use in the Turret. So the 40mm is really terrible at ammo handling.

Excellent work. Totally biased as a Swede of course, but this is an awesome mod regardless. The Archer system is really great and truly "shoot and scoot" since it can fire multiple shells with simultaneous impact and then leave before anyone even knows what happend. Combined with Excalibur or Bonus ammunition it is indeed lethal. According to some sources, some units are already in Ukraine, however not confirmed.

Cap may I put in a VVR (Valued viewer request) I would love to see something ala Top Gear special related where competitors have to fly between two points with refuelling. You can choose any plane. So do you choose speed with the penalty of slow refuelling, or do you choose burn rate and fuel efficiency. Cheers love the content.

It will be very short. I ran a test with 5 visbys against a moskva, peter the great, 2 molinya and 2 nuestrashimi (?) and the Russians lasted 6 minutes and never hit the visbys with anything.

Uhh... yeah, no point in walking if we don't have to. The only units that actually walk into action would be the Home guard militia as the militia doesn't have armored vehicles, and the mountain, costal and para Jaegers who infiltrate behind enemy lines through any means appropriate to the mission and then provide intelligence and sabotage assets until they exfiltrate.

Hey, Cap, can you fly drones in DCS? I'd really like to see some experimentation with drone versus drone combat, i.e. can small drones like the Predator shoot down kamikaze drones with Stinger missiles? Is there a better anti-kamikaze drone solution, bearing in mind that the Geranium-2 only costs $20,000, but a stinger missile, just the missile, costs $38,000 (in 1980). Also, if all else fails... Is the YAL-1 in the game, and can it be datalinked to AWACS for fire control?

Side note: Artillerisystem 08 (also known as the "Archer" system) has a maximum range of 50 km, not 25.
