A while ago, I was asked by a subscriber if I could play Keith Chapman's 'Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella'. At the time I was overwhelmed with other work and couldn't learn it in time.
Fast forward many months (over a year!), and I've finally learned this uplifting piece!
This video also acts as an announcement of v2 of Romsey Abbey which brings two new features: 'Stop Delay' and new touch screens for the Extended Edition.

Here is exactly what I think we all need: in these busy 'dark days before Christmas' struggling to get a lot of UNI work done before the end of the year this piece brings me the real Christmas spirit. I know it is American, yet somehow I get the feeling it could just as well have been improvised by Pierre Cocherau! Romsey does sound quite a bit more 'full': you get the feeling the organ is a lot larger than it is. BTW: the Nurburgring Christmas sweater is a nice added touch!

As usual, wonderful playing! This piece is not as easy as Richard makes it look and sound! I KNOW! That one crazy section (2:45) is a three-way pat-your-head-rub-your-stomach that gave me fits! Of course Richard flies through it without a hitch! BRAVO!

It was a long time ago, but I think I was sitting in the organ balcony at Wanamaker's in Philadelphia when Keith improvised this.....

BRAVO! BRAVO! Keith Chapman's stuff is very hard, You did great Richard, a swell job, well done. It's not Christmas for me without hearing Bring A Blowtorch. The sample set sounds great as well. Now you need to learn "Fanfare and Processional" by Keith Chapman. You will love it. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you Caroline Hugo Charlotte Nala and Bobbie.

Brilliant rendition of this lovely piece, that was familiar to me. Thank you!! I had not, however, realized that Keith Chapman composed this. I grew up in the Philadelphia area where Keith was head organist for the incredible organ in Wanamakers (now Macys) huge downtown department store. Two older brothers and then myself studied organ, so we made several trips to hear the organ. I had a few other occasions to hear Keith play other local venues such as Girard College (that organ described by a friend as "fire on wheels") and Keith was of course brilliant there too. He seemed to have a great sense of humor also. The untimely loss of he and his wife in an airplane crash was a real tragedy and he is still missed by many. Once again thank you! And Merry CHRISTmas!
